That's right ladies and gentlemen, you have arrived at The most useless discussions in the World - Discussion 2.
Today's Discussion is also an old one: What is the moon made of?
*pause for all the mice/aliens etc remarks*

The Debate:
1. Cheese: Obviously the moon is cheese. I mean it has to be... right...
NASA even has proof that the moon is made of old cheese.

The secret to unlocking this mystery is your age.
Age 0 - 10: Well you believe the clouds are marshmallows, so why wouldn't the moon be made of cheese? Perfectly sound reasoning there.
Age 10-11 (Edit for Perry Rhodan): You heard in geography class at school, something about it being a mirror reflecting Sunlight back to earth. So you stick with that hypothesis for a while... but of course you have forgotten everything that was taught in that lesson by the next week... Hey look Cheese!!
Age 11 - 15: Everything is a conspiracy, if your parents say there is no Aliens on the moon then there must be!! This also works for if they say it is not made of cheese.
Age 15 - 39: It is obviously a rock... *Research blah blah* *landings etc* *eg satellites*
Age 40 - ~: The government is spying on us!! Alien's will takeover the world soon! *area 51 blah blah* wheres my tinfoil hat?!?! *eg UFO's* *proof of ET's etc etc*
So there you go! You now know that yes! the moon is made of cheese until you are in your pre-teen to teen years!
And aliens might exist! If someone in authority says they don't!
Spread the word!! Also drop a comment with idea's for what my next useless discussion should be about!!

The debate in science was always more of "we know the moon is made of cheese, but which sort?" My teacher was always old school and convinced it was created from an old dutch cannonball made out of Edam that overshot gravity and then expanded as it went into space - the lesser gravity enabled to cheese to expand to the size of the moon now. The mathematical calculations to prove this is possible is too complicated for it to be posted in eRepublik threads.
Personally, I am more inclinded to believe it was made of Jarlsberg cheese as the softness of the moon was demonstrated by the "bounce" as the lunar module landed. Swiss cheese and Edam would be too hard relatively speaking. I've seem calculations to suggest that Jarlsberg cheese has the right general level of softness with the slight variation being within the margin of error to allow for effects of gravity on cheese.
You see, now this is what I like! People who can (while sounding serious) continue a perfectly useless discussion 😃
Surely after being shot out of a cannon, any cheese qualifies as the delicious "smoked".
Failing that, there clearly isn't actual booze in your port wine flavoured cheese.
I had an interesting thought about the moon recently... Imagine it was just a little closer... on a comic scale that is a lot, but if the tide was just a few meters higher, the moons gravity just a little closer... the landscape of the coast would be a kilometres wide stretch of beach, ports as we know could not exist, while humans dependence on the coast, given where population is spread typically, would be shattered... life in the water relies of soft tides to ride rather than a rough force to be handled and many species we know would not exist or have evolved in that manner... Just another reason why the earth and earth like planets are so rare in the universe, its time and situation meeting perfectly for us to simply be.... #drunk
Also if anyone has knowledge on the subject, how could the moon be in a stable orbit, wouldn't it either be drifting closer or further by some degree each rotation, and with gravitational swing wouldn't be destined to either crash into us or slingshot out of our gravity within time, while drowning us all on the way?
It does get closer and further away, same as the earth with the sun. hence why it looks bigger and smaller on different days...
i honestly don't know, but i can't imagine it being stable, since nothing is really... even the north and south pole will fuck out one day as they swirl around and flip out
To a large extent, the outwardly facing centralfugal force (spellig?) is equal to the inward pulling force of gravity so that the moon's distance is relatively stable in the same orbit. It isn't completely in reality but it is worth remembering the Earth isn't perfectly round and so gravity in different parts of the world is slightly different. If I recall corrrectly, gravity is slightly less than the textbook 9.8m/s at the equator and is marginally stronger at the poles.
So aliens would use the moon as a base of operations? I mean its made of cheese so its an edible supply of food 😉
You are assuming the aliens aren't dairy intolerant... And even if they weren;t, eating that amount of cheese day in and day out surely is not good for the internal plumbing...
