The media- how we are wasting resources

Day 607, 11:35 Published in USA Romania by 8-3=1

THIS IS THE ENGLISH TRANSLATION OF AN ARTICLE I PUBLISHED YESTERDAY IN THE ROMANIAN MEDIA

In these difficult times (some of you might think I have nothing better to do) I managed to compile the following statistics (valid day 606 20:00 Erepublik time):
Country Romania Hungary Indonesia USA Spain
Population 8620 14248 13384 17467 6956
No of newspapers 3430 1049 2664 4026 2773
Media density 0.40 0.07 0.20 0.23 0.40
Newspapers with min 10 subscribers 629 593 396 657 426
Ratio 0.18 0.57 0.15 0.16 0.15
Newspapers with min 2 subscribers 1584 785 1035 1850 1309
Ratio 0.46 0.75 0.39 0.46 0.47

We can draw the following conclusions from the statistics:
a. There are three levels of “media density”: 1. Hungary with the lowest value of 0.07; 2. Indonezia-USA with medium values of 0.20-0.25; Romania-Spain with high values of 0.40.
b. There is a big discrepancy between the percentage of newspapers with min 10 subscribers in Hungary (57😵 compared with all the other countries in this statistics (15-20😵
c. There is also a discrepancy (not so big though) between the percentage of newspapers with min 2 subscribers: 75% in Hungary and 39-47% in the other countries
d. There is quite high percentage of newspapers technically without subscribers (0 or 1): in Hungary it is a lower percentage 25% but in the other countries the percentages are quite high varying from 53% to 61%.

From the statistics above we can draw the conclusion that Hungary is the country which is utilising best the resources towards creating media content, without wasting too much money in this respect. I tend to believe that Hungarian young users are instructed to spend the money for other purpose.

We can also draw the conclusion that there are already too many newspapers in the main eRepublik countries. A newspapers costs now 2 GOLD to setup and this amount of gold can be used by the young users for other purposes: weapons, moving tickets, gifts, food etc. Of course a citizen willing to express his views will believe that a newspaper is a good investment as his ideas can be easier passed on to the other users.

In Romania I had the initiative to allow young users to publish their articles for free under copyright (as long as they do not contradict the rules of eRepublik and cannot be subject of ban from the admins). I am happy to do the same with US users, but the article will be published in the Romanian media (not the US)- if you have articles targetting Romanian users you can PM them to me.

The US should establish their own independent system of allowing young users to publish without spending money to setup newspapers. There are thousands of gold which can be saved in this simple way, I hope this article will help in this respect.

All the best.
