The Mannerly Mercenary

Day 1,473, 16:32 Published in Slovakia Czech Republic by Frank Zafka

Mercenaries have become commonplace in the e-world, but interactions between suppliers and mercs are often unsatisfactory.

I've had a lot of experience in both positions, so here are my thoughts on how to maintain civility between suppliers and mercs.

Mercenary DOs and DO NOTs:

Do
-- Read the topic of the room in IRC when you enter seeking supplies
-- Fight when the supplier asks you to
-- Use all of the food fights you listed
-- Be prepared to supply a screenshot of your influence

Do not
-- Complain when supplies are slow
-- Spam the room with your number of food fights and profile link
-- Get upset and cause a problem when supplies are stopped
-- Move to a country to fight for a suppliers resistance if you haven't been asked to. If you do so, this does not obligate the supplier to supply you.
-- Ask for food or moving costs if the supplier is clearly only supplying tanks. That is just annoying.

Supplier DOs and DO NOTs:

Do
-- Keep the room topic updated when supplies are on/off with the battle link and strength requirements
-- Keep the room updated with battle progress so mercs understand when supplies are slow or paused
-- Track the amount of influence you can expect from mercs to whom you have donated

Do not
-- Keep your room listed in #mercenaries when you are not supplying
-- Ask someone to move to your country to fight for your resistance war and then not supply them. If this happens, you should pay their moving costs.

A reminder for Mercenaries: suppliers are working very hard to supply you so that they can defend their country. Emotions run very high. You get free supplies out of the deal, and all you have to do is fight. Just don't be demanding and disrespectful.

A reminder for suppliers: mercenaries are doing what they can to help you out. Get them supplies as soon as possible. Try to be respectful of their time and effort as well.
