Good morning folks! Or afternoon, wherever you may be. I did promise a new article before the CP election, so here it is. Sorry it's taken awhile - my eldest started school this week and it's been an emotional roller coaster ride for both of us! You didn't come here to read about my personal life though. On with eLife!





The Country President election is tomorrow, in game terms. That's this afternoon if you're a RL Aussie. If you're not, you're probably smart enough to work it out for yourself.


Whoever you end up choosing, please express yourself clearly by voting. Last month the Country President was decided by three votes. No doubt one of those was the President themself. If you thought your vote doesn't count, and won't change the outcome - you're dead wrong.






On foreigners and the Military Take Over (MTO) threat


Those of you with access to the congress threads, or who are simply observant, will be aware that there are two Military Units in eAustralia that have fallen into hostile hands. These are now owned by eThai citizens. As those of you with a grasp of game mecahnics know, it is possible to launch a military coup once you have command of a military unit. If successful the MU commander becomes dictator of the country with, well, dictatorial powers. The CP and congress will be puppets. Not muppets, which is normally the case.


Maximum taxes and looting of our stored treasury reserve in this case is both possible and plausible.


Some congress representatives consider that the best defence is to initiate our own coup, to prevent a loss of control. I stand by my earlier position. I prefer democracy to dictatorship and will not be launching a coup without some very compelling arguments.


That all said, there is a clear and present danger! If a coup is started you will all know because a big red banner appears at the top of the home screen. I urge all of you to fight against a coup as hard as you can bear if and when one rears it's ugly head.


What would a government I lead do to solve this problem and stop it recurring?


I plan to sponsor an MU buyback. If you currently command a military unit and you don't want it anymore, please get in touch. The government will buy it off you, so you don't feel like you have to sell to a stranger in order to move on.



When we beat them once, I predict this problem will go away. Nobody wants to waste 200,000 CC on a failed coup.





On warsies and Day 3000


OK, so this one got brought forward a little. We have a training war with South Africa. Enjoy it as long as it lasts. Hold some of your True Patriot medal cash in reserve to turn it into gold via Resistance Hero medals. Then sell the gold and make more profit!





On loan schemes


As flagged before, if elected I plan to loan treasury gold (we don't use it, only the cash...) to citizens who plan on building new companies.


If you're interested ask either myself or Gudzwabofer, who will be leading the program. Repayments will be 1 gold/month for every 10 gold lent. No interest will be charged.






Activity and coordination


An idea rattling around in my head for most of last year was to hold fight nights. What's old is new again, just like clothes!


In short form, we gather in our IRC room (#auserep on the Rizon server) at a specified time. And then we work as a group to influence battles. For us, and for our allies.


I intend to host these about weekly. The exact days and times will depend on that unpredictable beast called Real Life. Tuesday 9 February (Day 3002) at around 03:00 game time is looking good. Supplies and prizes for participation and best contributions will be arranged. Watch this space!

How to pay for all this?


You've probably noticed a bunch of spending promises. How can we afford all of this? Is she going to raise taxes?



No, I have no plans to change, or even fiddle with tax rates.


I've enlisted the help of our resident Monetary Market guru, J Seemore to act as an assistance Finance Minister. His job will be to use the unneeded part of our reserve funds to trade and increase the reserve. And to keep my head screwed on and facing the right way.
