The Ideological War is Over
Jack Flufferton
Over the course of the war, I've noticed something: PEACE will not be able to break the American spirit, will, arrogance, or whatever you want to call it.
Undoubtedly, many, many PEACE citizens relished the fact that the US was being absolutely obliterated - along with other Fortis/Eden nation - not because we're members of opposing alliances, but because of real life prejudice against America. They wanted to knock Americans' egos down a notch by dismantling America's economy, infrastructure and desire to play the game. These are the people I am addressing, but remember, there are plenty of PEACE denizens that are good sports and realize the war and eRep are all in fun.
In the days preceding our territorial nadir, humility was abound in the general populace regarding America's impending doom. Most articles had to do with accepting fate and dying honorably, peppered with corny 300 quotes. If PEACE were to succeed in delivering a hard blow to Americans' egos, this was a moment conducive to teaching. Unfortunately for revenge-seekers, the PEACE propaganda machines weren't working well.
No boobs in this article, sorry, only a topless man
Tons of PEACE propaganda pieces were getting trolled by Americans compensating for our failure by touting the US's real life stature, basically saying, "whatever, ur beating us in a game but your country sucks irl lol". Almost immediately after we won our first region back the chest-thumping resumed, albeit with reservation; people were mostly just taunting at that stage. Once America controlled all of the South and West, the epeens were fully flexed and being flaunted about.
As I briefly mentioned in my previous article, PEACE's full-scale, sustained invasion of North America was a lopsided response to the actual offenses we had committed. Plus, most new players don't know much about America's past, and, understandably so, don't feel responsible for that which PEACE is butthurt about. It's no wonder nobody was affected much by the war. Oh, and the whole PEACE anti-imperialism thing was debunked long ago - you have already disproportionately punished the US, so your presence in North America is now imperialism.
While I wish people would learn a real life lesson from our foes - it just didn't get through to most Americans. Now, there is nothing left strategically or ideologically that be accomplished and sustained long-term.
The war is obviously going to continue for a while longer, but it's clear that PEACE's mission has unequivocally failed. After recovering from one territory, Americans now believe they can overcome whatever momentum PEACE accumulates, so the dream of a greater-than-the-game teachable moment has passed - PEACE cannot lower America's spirit to that level again. You taught us essential lessons about game mechanics and coordination, and we indebted to you for that.
If you are enjoying the competitive aspect of the war, great, it's fun, but it has run its course. If you've got hopes of something more, it's time to give up, that war is over.

Topless men yea.
Equality in the World at last.
Now, see, that is why you've got over 500 subscribers. That's some great meta right there.
This war has far more benefits than drawbacks, in my opinion.
It made eAmerican players actually learn the game, grow their strength & experience, and gave a massive boost to the iron/weapons industry.
We went from being a bunch of bickering Simcity-players to a cohesive military-industrial complex.
War games, my friend. We learned about how important coordination is, so we can parlay that to peacetime war games and maintain the good momentum we have.

Good stuff 🙂

Nice article man...
Very good...
I decree this article to be full of win and possibly cream filling. Much like a Cadbury Egg.
You write Cadbury eggs.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cadbury_Creme_Egg" target="_blank">http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cadbury_Cre[..]e_Egg = what you write
Excellently written... as far as any real life lessons though... until people recognize that the tyranny of "The morally righteous" is just as evil as the tyranny of oppression, we will never be able to learn the lesson intended to be taught here.
well written.. voted
Nice article sir. I enjoyed it.
Well stated. If anything they've only made us stronger. We now realize we are not indestructible and we have taken measures in all forms (economic, military, diplomatically) in order to ensure that we get back n the right track. PEACE wanted to break us and epic fail'd. Now they're the ones falling apart.
Jack 4 president 😛
there are (unfortunately) so many of us who take this game way too much seriously. Well, one of my first comments to a newspaper was, back in a few months to Wossoo's newspaper in the UK, that this shit ain't serious. I mean, we enjoy ofc kicking one another's ass, but it's a game amirite. When we PEACE were in winning phase, I wrote the same, and now I quote. It's fun, it makes the game less boring, it makes the players to be enthusiast on the goals of their own countries. Everybody benefitted, everybody, and I believe, this will continue 🙂
Wow, coming from someone in PEACE, those words will take a moment to sink in. PEACE has a reasonable side?
Well written - but seriously dude, get a hair cut, your freakin me out man.....
Great article, I completely agree.
BTW, Am I the only person who thought that 300 was on the level of Flash Gordon?
@Michiana: never.
Voted. Good thoughts.
PEACE will always be butthurt about something. I believe Emerick's last official act was to make a reservation for us in Hell restaraunt.
@psyber2kayos: Guess what, there are people with brains on the other side too 😉

Fluffdawg, if you go to the white house, the first items on the docket will be to install a wet bar in the oval office and appoint me your secretary of courtesans
This is a great article!
Coming from someone who wasn't here when we did what we did to whomever we did it to, but read about it, I think this synopsis is spot-on. I came into this when we were still defending Kansas, but half of America was already gone. I didn't know we 'deserved it' or 'we had it coming,' I just knew that it wouldn't last long, and we would be back. If not on top, then at least on equal footing.
America is such a young country, and separated by an ocean on both sides. We have never been invaded, defeated, occupied; never had foreign tanks and troops march down our streets. Have never been forced to sign documents to make official our defeat and subjugation by any foreign power. And we're young enough to think that it's always been this way, that we CANNOT be defeated. Perhaps that's hubris, but it's also a bottomless wellspring of optimism and hope. I think it serves us more than hinders us.
I love bacon, btw. Have a fluffy day my dears.
lol, Hard to belive, but I can see not everyone in PEACE being the all out american hating type. This is just a game, and while there can be some foul air in such with such types as the aforementioned types(and vice-versa), I like to think that the vast majority are smiply in it for Fun of it rather than to make a statement, all in all I say Cheers! Cheers to Jake, Cheers to eVon, Cheers to America.
Totally agree, Ahuvya, I made sure to make that clear in the last sentence of the second paragraph. Most people are pretty rational about it, but it's the radicals that need to be called out.
good article. except this sentence about American spirit and its "punishment". Most of the Peace soldiers fights for fun in this war. It is a strike back also. Extremist brings such miserable claims up like "American Ego" etc
The others thoughts are well written. Regarding PGC I think good ethical rules are not equals with wisdom. At this point PEACE has failed.
Yes, there are many ecitizens from ex-Atlantis countries (working on destruction of Peace) but I see the arrivals of more and more newbies.
And I dont think so they should pay the sins of the past...
So..as PGC seems to be rude, Inflexible and stubborn this situation brings its end closer. Maybe a new alliance or more neutrality (a series of real and serious peace threaties) would be the good soultion for this. The resolving of this continuosly reborning conflict.

Now this war drags on longer then we hoped. rebuilding will stall and the eUSA economy will suffer again. We have will and the allies(good friends) but what we lack is killer instinct, deep deep pockets and a grudge. If only we could sap their gold faster then their tanks would run out of fuel.
voted, but the actual war will rage on until they either conquere us, or we kick them out and sign a non-aggression pact with them😮 hopefully the latter, yes, i started playing eRepublik in the middle of this war, i first started this character about the time PEACE invaded california, i remember how arrogant i am some other americans were, i also remember the darkest days of the occupation of america, we only had 2 regions left, most if not all of us had acceppted out fate, i honestly don't know how we made such a comeback, my best guess is because portugal sold us all the regions they had back to us and dropped out of the war, then it started to shift, today presently, the war is raging, colombia has made a suprise attack and is now rampaging through the south.
We need to remember that this is a game that is not based on real life. There are real life Americans who are in other eCountries and are members of PEACE GC. There are also real life people from other countries who are in eUSA fighting for Fortis/Eden. War in eRep is what drives the economies of the strongest nations in the game and, so, there is perpetual war and this is not likely to ever change. The opposite of real life, in eRep, war is good and creates wellness, wealth and boosts production of all nations involved. If there were no one to war with in eRep, there would be no benefits associated with it and people would get tired of "war games". There are good players on all sides here and we can be civil in our comments while we wail on each other in the battlefields 😉.
Btw, voted Jack - good article 😉

Very true!
Well done.
yes.
I'd like to add that even if PEACE had obliterated eUSA when it had the chance you would have started your liberation sooner or later, and then the belief that you can handle anything that PEACE can throw you way would again have been created in certain individuals.
The moral is that the teaching process has 3 components - teacher (PEACE), lesson (invasion) and pupils (individual eUSA citizens). If some of the pupils are unwilling or unable to get the most out of the lesson then the teacher will fail no matter what. Certain pupils, on the other hand, will learn a lot despite the teacher's imperfections and errors.
Also you gained much more than a few lessons in strategy and tactics and a war-time boost to eNational unity:
- you elected a president who employed the previously unheard of tool of DIPLOMACY to save your eCountry and make its restoration easier
- you realized that the eRepublik is not all about eUSA - you started reading other nations media and posting MEANINGFUL comments
- the beta-giants realized they could no longer run eUSA or the eWorld, cheats or no cheats, and left frustrated giving the other players a chance at a more fair and interesting game experience
Well, I think some Russian citizens are getting tired of this war anyway...
