The Guy Who Won Erepublik.

Day 522, 09:12 Published in USA USA by Joeph Cole

It's been a year now, and I've just now noticed, that I never introduced myself.
Hello my name is Alan.

I'd say that I haven’t done half bad for the country for just being 17, a high school senior, part time partially employed, and from the valley of the sun, Arizona.

It’s been a year now that I joined Erep.

I received my beta invitation from a troll on a forum, toosmartguys.com, which dealt with gaming console modding and homebrew. I’ve outlived my friends that joined with me, outlived them by almost a year now. Even in beta, it was hard to have fun, albeit easier than today.

I joined right smack dab in the middle of the Can-Am war, Heh, my first battle was that day.I learned the ropes rather quickly I believe. I also learned quickly that erep is a boring game.

I two clicked my way around for a couple of weeks until I saw Benn put out an article about the national flash chat. Mind you, that the flash chat was a very different place then the IRC channel, at any given time there was only about 10 people on, but those ten were the best people in the nation. Benn Dover, Nave Saikiliah, Dishmcds, Daphne Lilac. I used to liken the room as the Skull and Bones Society of the nation, no one knew about the chat, yet a lot of power was held there.

I’d have a question, they’d have an answer. I’d need help, they’ll offer it. I doubt I’d still have interest in the game if it wasn’t for it. Never learned about game mechanics, as much as I did from there.

I originally joined the Liberty Party, you might know it as the Libertarian party. I joined it for the simple fact that it was the biggest at the time. (See USWP). I quickly realized that although big, there was hardly a community between players, and joined eRepublicans For Change, or you might know the Conservative Party.

I’ve even ran for Mayor of Phoenix twice, a position that was lost to the ages. The first time was to run to be mayor, not to do anything, just to run because I thought I was the only one running. Never campaigned or anything (a repeated quirk of my elife), so I lost to a guy that placed his candidacy 5 days after mine. Ran the next month and won. I saw that the fact that mayors were pointless, and couldn’t actually do anything. Around this time, Dish chose me to be in congress. Man, how I loved congress back in beta. There was only 20 of us, not 52. When we needed something done, we did it, not debated it to past the point of effectiveness, or through layers of bureaucracy and bylaws. The most common issue we faced was the increasing values of the USD. The USD would creep up to .23 or higher Gold per USD and congress would print more money, and at this time printing money didn’t cost us gold, to beat it down. Taxes were low due to the fact that we could just make USD when we needed it, So we hardly ever needed to bother it, save for keeping national markets on edge.

After a while, I left RFC to join UCP, or should I say Game FAQs , to help Justin get it off the ground, and stuck with the party just up until a few months ago. After beta ended, and a few months into V1, the Admins and their infinite wisdom decided to hold congressional elections regionally. I quickly lost interest in congress, after seeing the follies of mayors. (That, and the fact that I never campaigned for anything.)

I could say that I was disappointed with V1, but that is an understatement. If only all of you knew how smoothly everything worked in beta. Instead of this POS interface that has to be fixed every week.

I had my first taste of USA’s military after a few months of congress. During this time Esoom, (Moose) was starting to organize a military together. There were three Squads, Alpha, Bravo, and Charlie. Charlie was for high mobility soldiers, who could fight where ever needed. Bravo Was to supplement Charlie on longer stay. And Alpha.

Alpha, informally renamed to the Kick-ass Political Squadron, Was the squad for congressmen, The President, Mayors, and Party Presidents. Altogether, High strength Citizens who couldn’t leave the country. These would be later be named Marines, Army, National Guard Division 1, Respectively.

There wasn’t much that the KPS did, other than being awesome, so I lost interest with the military until the first restructuring under Moishe. Buzzy the cat, a division leader in the Army needed officers to help manage, and offered my help. I was placed in command of 7 soldiers, Squad 17 in Division 3, and we worked great together, we did what was asked, even helping to free Australia. Quickly, we became the most active squad in our division. William Shafer, our division commander needed a second in command. I reluctantly agreed, because I didn’t want to leave my squad. I Ended you being both the Divisions Executive officer, and the squad leader. My job was to make sure that messages got down the line, and pay was handled correctly. Will was promoted to General of the army and then Chairman of the Joint Chiefs, Leaving me as Division leader. Will brought the second reboot of the Army, he added companies and offered QMGS for the first time. I had Armando, Now AKA Armandez from Squad 17 Be my Second in command of the division, and soon we had the most active Division in the Army. And things were clicking until Will resigned. I was asked to be Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, which I gladly accepted.

French Toast, That one thing with Portugal, Taco Bell, Happened during my tenure. Whether that says something about my leadership, I’m not too sure yet. Two days ago I resigned from CoJCS, because I was too inactive to be useful.

Right now, there are four things I have going on in my head,

Actually do something in Congress, I joined the USWP, a party that I had disagreements about before. Mainly to slip under the radar, I figured that they wouldn’t notice me out of 1000 members, which didn’t happen Anananias messaged me as soon as I placed my Candidacy.
Continue ATCK, my party that focuses on personal Connections over gameplay mechanics.
Start the Unrealist Party, A party that focuses on Gameplay mechanics and criticizes RL similarities.
Or retire to Moldavia.

Dunno.

I have survived the Goons, The party, the /v/akis, Franco, The launch of V1, Failed wars, Successful wars, PTOs, and anything else that has happened in the last year, I suppose it wouldn’t hurt me to see what happens.

Please allow me to introduce myself,
I’m a man of wealth and taste.
I’ve been around for a long, long year.
Stole many a man’s soul and faith.
