The Great Hockey Wars |18.02.2014|

Day 2,282, 13:24 Published in Czech Republic Czech Republic by Thomas Gorzkiewski
Well, it was quite a long time since I have written an article. Especially in the lovely mother tongue of the king Richard III. Maybe it was caused by loss of my previous article. Doesn't matter, I'm sipping a cup of tea right now and loudly tapping at my utterly destroyed keyboard. I think I should charge eRepublik admins for both.

A bit of flattering does not harm

To begin with, it is an honour that you, Czechs, have elected me, a foreigner, as your congressman (kinda, Vladislav was creating the electoral list and I've sneaked on it). I'm grateful for your token of trust and gratitude for the damage I have dealt (come on, who was better in the 2nd Division?). For me, it means very much.

I won't mind winning the next elections, if someone asks.

The problem with my terms is that every time I serve the Czech Republic, a shitstorm happens. Years ago, it was a Political Takeover, right now - the recent events. I don't know if I'm unlucky or we are always in problem.

The political overview

Very much happened lately and all the minor tracks have lost the track of events. The alliances breaking down, "world wars" every day - it wasn't bothering the Czechs, as we weren't a part of it. Except being conquered by Poles. Or Slovaks. Or any other neighbour that was strong enough. So mainly by one of those ealier mentioned.

But recently, Poland made a mistake. A huge one, no doubt. Breaking an alliance you were in is one, but invading Romania and thus giggling newly-created Asteria's balls - it's asking for trouble. The campaign wasn't a success and loads of successful Resistance Wars have raged through Polish colonies. Fortunately for us, we have liberated ourselves.

Unfortunately, at the beginning of the year, we've signed a little pact with devil. We have agreed for a partial occupation of our country in exchange for some financial benefits from Bohemia. It was quite shady since the start and a victorious war made the whole congress puzzled. Should we become neutral, give our lands back or co-operate with Asteria?

Poland had problems with that as well. Gently, as always, they demanded declaring them as our Natural Enemy or else. And threatened our Minister of Foreing Affairs. It wasn't a smart move at all. Maybe there isn't many of us, but we are experienced and proud. We aren't simply threatened like little schoolgirls and we simply turned our affection towards Asteria. Especially that Poland never published the signed pact nor respected it.

The fun begins

Poland knew that invading us isn't the best idea (as if invading Romania was). Furthermore, they needed some sort of an ally/scape goat in the region. That's why the Iranian airstrike took place. It was a clever move, I admit. But they forgot one tiny thing.

The opinion of Poland is shattered. Poles are so careless that they made enmities everywhere. Even a "working lady" has better Public Relations than them. I must express my amusement, I have never been such a douch... a disrespecting other's feelings and opinions person. That's why I have less foes, thankfully.

It seems that Iran got tired of Polish "goat jokes" and decided to change sides. Now they've got whole Asteria as allies. Soon, they'll control all the land from Saarbrücken in Germany (meh) to České Budějovice‎ (how dare they!). What is quite a problem, really.

Long story short, we are doomed (kinda). I don't believe we won't be occupied and even our friendly relations with Belarus (hey-o!) won't help. It isn't anything new. We even got used to it, to be honest. Czechs will simply wait for the right moment, barely manage to liberate themselves and won't rage quit after the next wipe. That's for sure.

And there is a bit to blame on. We haven't signed enough Mutual Protection Pacts, our evacuation towards Carinthia (Austrians - thanks for the favour) and there were no promised Resistance Wars. But we are a small state, such mistakes don't change into an epic failure.

The Great Hockey Wars

Now, here's the fun part. Do you remember your younger brother Slovakia (yup, you can't choose your family)? Congrats, you have won a hockey match aginst them. You've pissed them so much that those Poland-loving boy scouts are considering declaration of war against us. Don't worry Slovaks, we like you anyway.
