The Great Eire Question

It would seem that the newly elected President of Ireland has hit the ground running, working to get his cabinet in place and taking action on a very controversial issue. Bringing Northern Ireland under Irish Rule!!!

In Nithraldur's first article in office he stated, "...inquired for the first time with the new UK President about the possibility of a civilized and formal dialogue concerning Great Eire."

Now since I moved here to Ireland I have been going to the UK forum to see what people there think of loosening their grip on Northern Ireland. There were a couple responses that were downright hostile. Since the Admins created Northern Ireland as a UK province, these same people stated they would start RW to take back the 6th Region and any chance of a Great Eire. Others stated that Northern Ireland is UK Region and should stay that way, regardless of what the Irish want.

Now, one should not be surprised as the UK has their paws in Belgium and have a tradition of controlling other countries and never facing the fact that they should let go. Now here is the UK's president Final Destiny reply to my question, "I am hearing rumors Northern Ireland is gonna be passed back... Is this true?"

Final Destiny posted...

”Northern Ireland stays in the UK., unless Northern Irelanders want out.”

As nice as it would be to see a United Ireland from a Republican point of view, it will not happen unless Northern Ireland wants it and that in itself is difficult to figure out these days.

The last polls we took on this issue happened to be split 50/50 but those are very outdated and a lot of Australians were polled. (Oddly most Aussies wanted out of the UK...)

Most of the giving back the 6 counties talk is light hearted banter between our Irish Brothers.

Seems, they do not care what we want... as Northern Ireland is connect to this island and not theirs. For me I do not think this is light banter, never did and I am not Irish by birth, I am Italian... But I feel that Ireland should be whole and anyone who thinks that they should not should lose an appendage (that mean an arm or leg for you dim ones). Then answer me, what does the UK gain from NI, not much as it has a single resource of Oil and that is Medium. One would think that the English only want to rape the Irish again for something as trivial as a Medium Oil Resource. I that is not true, but they have a conscience and are will to give back what is not theirs.

“Why should Ireland be treated as a geographical fragment of England - Ireland is not a geographical fragment, but a nation.”

Charles Stewart Parnell (parliamentarian/campaigner for Land Rights and Home Rule for Ireland, 1846-1891)
