The Feds did WHAT?!?!?!

Day 902, 09:33 Published in USA Canada by Greene12

We've just recently made it to the number two spot in the nation in terms of population. Maybe this will swing back and forth for a bit but as I write the Federalists have a 37 member lead over the number 3 party in the country. This is quite the moment for any Fed, but especially so for any Fed in the party since before the Third World War.

I joined this party at level 7, I was "recruited" by Wingfield, who did and absolutely massive amount of work to get this party off the ground. I was a pretty typical newbie at the time with disproportionate hopes of congress at a young age and the feds had a very disproportionate number of congressman. This helped, though it was really all wingfield, I was looking for a mid sized party and he was my introduction to what the feds are about, the man is epic.

I joined at around 160 members, hung out on IRC, posted on forums, and it was only a few weeks until most all of the party leadership abandoned us, and new people moved up the chain and took control of what could have been a damning event. Bill Brasky was the new PP at the time, though he only lasted a few weeks. Augustus, Jane Barnet, Pfeiffer, and others didn't stick around long after Bill left to go run around with the Airborne and the UIP. Through this mess, Fingerguns became the PP and soon after Wingfield started up the Federalist Outreach Program.

The FOP was really my opportunity as a newbie to start and really be productive; again like the typical newbie I was exceedingly enthusiastic and ready to do the grunt work. I was offered a District Representative job and was put in charge of the Western portion of the United States, keeping in contact with members there and PMing new players offering help. It was fun to be there for the birth of the FOP, which has been through all sorts different forms and shapes since its inception. WWIII rolled around however and my job seemed to disappear as the states under my charge began to disappear. The feds, like every party, dropped drastically in numbers at this point. I don't remember how low but it was well under 100. Other parties were the same, losing a number of members proportionate to their original size. It was a pretty rough time in America as we fought down to a single state. I fought with the Mobile Infantry at the time (and still do) which I joined just as fast as I joined the feds, right after graduating the Training Division.

The party retained its active core throughout the war. After we started gaining states rather than losing them we moved to a new forum, got more new players moving up, built party infrastructure, and began a steady climb in numbers. Fingerguns got us well on our way as a party around this time, putting in a ton of the groundwork we've built on. Our particular use of distinct departments and a lot of authority vested in department heads began with her. After a short term by Captain Panther, Citizenslave was elected and the party continued to grow and develop reaching higher numbers every day. For a long time I was fairly conviced we would never be the top five, we all worked to get there, but the numbers separating us from the UIP in the #5 spot weren't often very encouraging.

It was during Citizenslave's term in office however that we did it, we broke into the top 5. We're the only party to do this on our own and as a result of our own work and effort while I've been playing. This happened because of the hard work of a devoted core. Many federalists came and went through the months, and they each deserve credit, but there are also the individuals who joined and watched the party shrink during the war, and then rebuild and grow after and put themselves into the party that really drove this. Fingerguns, Citizenslave, Crash n Burn, and Wingfield devoted so much to this party at one point of its history or another, among countless others that I apologize for omitting by name.

The big reason we're number two now isn't just the devotion of some party members or the hours spent by the regular party member. Its what the Federalist Party is really about, we run for congress, and work to get good people into office, and we support presidential candidates as they come along, but its not the elections that drive us. We've always placed trying to help new players get on their feet, and provide support for them to excel, as our foremost priority. We believe every party should be able to function as an INDEPENDENT STATE. We want to get people elected, but we also want to reach out and help the new player, we want to foster IRC and Forum activity, take people from erepublik.com and show them mibbit, chatzilla, the national forums, our own party forums. We want to help people fight who have been in the TC and cannot yet be accepted into a deploying branch. We want to be organized, to be able to communicate within our own party to support this nation. Our congressmen represent the party that elects them, this is why we're federalists. A party can do so much to help the entire country, its not just about getting people into congress for their umpteenth term, or keeping the beta giants in decision making roles regardless of the work they do now. We stand by the definition of our name. We are Federalists.

This party is now the second largest because of our stability, because of our organization. When I took office this month the AAP, USWP, and the DemReps all existed as parties. Each has dissolved, each has collapsed due to PTO or other circumstances. This party however, not only still stands but has continued to grow, continued to excel. Our structure stands, our staff is devoted. We didn't get where we are by means of a PTO, or dealings through PM on IRC. We got here with a working system, a system of federalism, and a structure and organization built on helping the little guy.
