The Fall of eNL

Day 1,045, 17:46 Published in Netherlands Greece by Kravenn
Note : I know that I will receive a lot of insults in the comments, from old citizens of eNL, To be honnest : I really don’t care about that, but It will be a proof that they are unable to see where their own faults

I read that it was the end of eNL after the current results of the elections, that the country was at the agony, … Sad thing but it was predictable. Let’s return in the past and look after the faults which results of the current situation.

1- My arrival in the game

When I joined Erepublik in may 2009, There was a Union between Belgium and Netherlands. The Union was made between the 2 countries because Belgium was under the risk of a take over from Spain. I arrived just after the beginning of the union, I never know a Independent Belgium.
We were a small community of French speaking in UNL. Probably the only ones who have French as their first language. We asked to have English as Official language because it is a Universal language and everybody is able to understand it.

We (French speaking people), were all in a party (Belgian Party) which was regrouped mainly Belgian people, and we asked about equality between every citizen in the union. If there is a union, each citizen have the same rights, it was impossible to have a dominant class and a submissive one.

Our 1st big thing was when we were 4th party and we won elections with 17 seats. Yes, we used strategy and we won. It was impossible to ignore Belgians because we had near 50% of the seats in the congress. We negociate with most important NL political parties, we joined a coalition and we had not requested the prime minister seat due our lack of experience.

2-The first quarrels

Some times later, First problems arrived and the coalition collapses, Our requests were simple : Equality because it is the only way to have a real union at middle and long term. But for some parties, it is hard to accept that, especially for a conservative one who lead the country since some months. Well, Belgians are considered like Ptoers (but we were citizens of this union, we were not citizens from sri-lanka, we were citizens from one of the two countries which built the union). A kind of apartheid arrived : “Belgians : Ok but as long as the y close their mounth”. It was the main idea of the main conservative NL party and Belgians has changed their small privileges. But this party was sure to know everything, and was sure that they are the chosen people.
Except the main left-wing party who show us some respect, Belgians (who were near 50% of citizens of the union) are considered like a shit and must be considered like that. It is near impossible to built something with that kind of climate

3- Resistance Wars

A day of October 2009, a resistance war was launched by a Romanian, UNL loses Flanders and a Belgium only composed by Flanders appears on the map. This Belgium was leaded by a Romanian paramilitary group and was more a Eden puppet state than a real country. Sometimes later, Eden tried to “liberate” Brussels and Wallonia. Brussels RW was lost and only Wallonia stay in the Union.

The relations between the 2 communities were awful. The apartheid that the conservative coalition made was still in place. It was near impossible to have correct relations between Belgians and Right-wing NL Parties. Belgians still believe in Equality, Right-wing NL parties don’t want that.

I think that UNL died on that day, the day of we lose Brussels RW, but nobody (at that time) knew that.

4- Conservatives return to the power

End of November 2009 : Conservative parties won elections. Belgians have only a region were it was easy to elect people. It was very hard to win. The conservative coalition published a program composed by 5 WORDS!!! . Transparency disappears on that day.

Belgians are between 2 seats : There is a Belgium on the map but this Belgium has no legitimacy for us (Because there is a martial law decided by Romanians) and a (U)NL who don’t want Belgians

5- A new Union ?

Few days later, New project on the table. This project come from UK : A big merge between UK and UNL. UK is not against the project, like Belgians. But huge problem : Nationalists Dutch see in that big merge a lose of their “identity” (understand they have no chance to lead the new country). It is impossible for them and they refused the project.

During that time, I see no future in this situation, I left UNL to UK. I received a good welcome, Uk citizens are very good and I find fun there. For UNL citizens, I am considered as an “Economical traitor to the glorious fatherland of UNL”

6- New Belgium

Uk decided to send back to Romania this paramilitary group. Unfortunately, UK will lose these 2 regions during January 2010 when Eden invaded Western Europe (Germany, France were out of the map). Wallonia will be under polish control and some hours later became Spanish. Some people (from Eastern Europe) launched a RW in Flanders and Brussels and Belgium was back on the map. Sometimes later, Wallonia was liberated because this region has no interest for Spain.

On a technical point, UNL is dead, there is a divorce but the relations between the 2 countries are bad. At the place to split all in 2, Netherlands thinks that Belgium is under a PTO, and the Hard-line Nationalist Dutch president will say “we give nothing to Belgium, they made nothing in the Union and they will never do something for the Union”. Dutch Nationalist conservative will purge every Belgian citizen of their forum

7- Bad management of e(U)NL

Finances were not in a good situation, it will be worse now. Especially with some mister “I know everything” who manage the country in a total opacity. E(U)NL is some prestiges, a long agony will begin

Country makes loses, the stabilisation of the Monetary Market costs a lot for near nothing. Money is spend in huge quantity.
Time is lost is stupid things : Belgium don’t want again a Union, e(U)NL will take 2 months to decide “the Union collapses” . e(U)NL will take 5 months to change officially their name, and it was possible to resolve the problem in 15 days.

8- On these days

The “choosen one” people left the country (because money is gone), Belgians people are now in Belgium, France or UK.
Nationalism takes a huge place in eNL, Dutch must be the official language. Well, that is simple : You understand Dutch or you leave the country. People who are not from RL Netherlands have no choice : They are forced to leave the country.

Unlike other countries like France or Italy ,they talk in their first language. It is normal, they have never make a Union with another country who don’t speak the same language. But eNL makes discrimination against a part of their citizens.
Some people think that the return to Dutch language is a chance to create a Babyboom more easily. But the return to Dutch language has a consequence: People left the country.
It’s look like that eNL is attached to a citizen who thinks that he can make a babyboom, like a drunkard attached to a street light.

9- Conclusion

UNL was not a huge country in Peace, but UNL was respected to have good diplomats, good fighters and a good Q5 hospital company. Today : All of these things belongs to the past. eNL economy is active like someone in the coma, bad management, lack of respect from Nationalists and conservatives people are not a help. You take long time to build something good but it takes not a long time to destroy all. A year ago, there was some respect for this small country. Now it is like The Frog who Aspired to Become as Big as the Ox. Lithuania, Estonia and Portugal are bigger than eNL and I am sure that they are able to have a better management than eNL.

This wall of text to say : Some people are sure that they are the “chosen people”, but these people lead the country to ruins and bankruptcy and keep their noob behaviour. If they have some humility, they will say “Yes, we failed, we give you (to a new generation of citizens), the management of the country” This new generation must learn fast and find foreign trusted people to help to rebuilt the country on a better basis. Is it too late ? Maybe Yes, maybe Not, I am unable to answer.
