The end of Princefigs

Its been a while coming. Many of you have noticed that I havent been nearly as active as I once was. There was a time that I was logged into this game at least 12 hours a day....12 hours spent on here and IRC. Looking back, I am ashamed of the amount of time I have spent on this game and wish I could take it back. I have spent far too much time clicking buttons and living this fake second life while neglecting my first one. (the only one that is important)

Before I checked out for good, I wanted to impart some wisdom that I have with respect to the 'Virtual and Real Life complex' that I have seen run rampant in erepublik and just some general good information to remind ourselves of :

1 : This is a terrible game....like, awful.
Its probably the worst game I have ever played...and that says a lot. The only aspect of this game that is somewhat playable is the community aspect of it, which leads me to my next point.

2 : The community isnt that great, it certainly doesnt replace or surpass a real life community or RL friends.
Granted, there are some really cool people in this game, im not going to name names, but, we all know who they are. However, they are dwarfed to a absurd degree by trolls and we all know who they are too....just go check out the eUSA forums.

Too many people live vicariously through this game. That is really sad. Guys, noone here is so far gone that you cant do something worth while in the real world. There are too many internet tough guys here. Those that run their mouths but would piss themselves long before they would ever back it up. As a man, I really have no respect for people like that.

Trolls are like that witch in that one movie....you know, the one that melts away when you ignore her. Dont feed the trolls...they have nothing else going on right now and it makes them angry, so instead of taking out their frustration in real life, like a man, this try to annoy someone else IN AN ONLINE ENVIRONMENT. Its pretty pathetic and unworthy of attention.

3 : Real life is far too short.
Seriously my friends. Life is short. I read in the newspaper the other day about a 17 year old girl dying. 17 years old. Thats just messed up...the one life she got and it ended at 17. I started thinking about how sad it would have been if she had spent the last few years or even months of her life playing this game as much as I have been. What experiences she may have missed out on if she was too busy, too obsessed with this game and neglected her real life. Friends, it was that event that really made me decide to quit this game.

I am a father of three boys. They are my life. If I died a year from now and spent every second with them from now until then, I would have no regrets about that time spent. That is the real difference. Would you regret the time spent on this game if you died tomorrow?

4 : Dont take this GAME too seriously.
This is a common thing that most long term players like myself have come to realize about this game. People take it too seriously. No matter how much you believe it, you arent a Congressman, a Speaker of the house, militia leader, media mogul, or international hero. America isnt being evaded, and we arent under a threat of being taken over. Its not worth sacrificing sleep or time with your loved ones to snipe someone in office or hit a target at a certain time. If you spend money on this game...STOP. Invest in yourself and your future. IRAs and other long term investments are a better use of the money you make.

5 : Know when to walk away

Part of being a man or woman is knowing when its time for change...knowing when you have a problem and need to do something about it. If you:

-Spend money on this game but dont have a savings plan
-Neglect time with loved ones to play
-Find excuses to get away from social events to log on to fight at a time or keep your HW medal strike alive
-Cant remember the last time you appreciated the warm sun on your skin and the cool breeze in your face
-Log in at school instead of focusing on your education
- etc etc

Then please listen to me and take some time and really think about your priorities. Life is a wonderful thing....is it best spent here?

I will be 2 clicking for awhile to keep in touch with some friends that I have on this game. After awhile, once I have established other forms of contact with them, I will simply allow my account to die and never return.

Dont ask me for my erepublik 30k USD, companies, 570gold, or anything else. I have already made plans for it all.

Final words : Take some time in the near future and assess your relationship with this game and how it affects your real life. If you are sacrificing any part of your one true life for this game, then you really need to sit down and consider that. Walk outside and enjoy the sunshine. Its nice to be alive.

As for me, Im out. My kids and I are going swimming today and enjoy our life. I hope you do the same.
