Well that was a surprise wasn’t it?

Dear friends
,

I am here today to announce I plan to run for Country President in the upcoming elections on 5 June. Our illustrious master of bold, jamesw, has informed us all that he is tired after four long months as President, and he wants a break. With that in mind, someone needs to step up to take on the burden, duty and pleasure of being Country President.

Why should you vote for me? Firstly, because I know what I’m doing. I have been President twice before, and probably still hold the record for the most years in government, both in the eUK as well as in Serbia, China, and many other nations around the world (often at the same time). I have the international contacts and foreign affairs experience that form the core aspects of the role, and give me the ability to be an effective CP.

Secondly, because I stir things up. Some of you may like me (or at least respect me), and some of you may dislike me, but the truth is that since I’ve come back to play actively there has been a lot more drama, activity and fun in the political side of the game. As CP, I’d bring that to a national level: giving us something to fight for together and stirring the world cauldron to see what floats to the top (as a tip, not something you’d want to eat).

Thirdly, because I won’t be around forever. I fully intend to step down as soon as somebody else is ready to take my place. With that in mind another key goal of mine is to ensure we have a broad, multi-party government which gives younger players the experience they need to become future ministers and hopefully replace me. That way I can go back to writing tl;dr articles about work tax as is my wont.

True words, goodbuddy

If you still need a reason to vote for me, consider this: all options are on the table. I am a player who enjoys it when someone changes my mind. I am not a ‘farmer’ player who likes to sit safely and sleep through my terms in government. My job as CP is to take (calculated) risks, to listen to what people want and to do it. To make a truly successful term, I need everyone on board. That means working with every UK player, including the ones I have had a political rivalry with.

That means UKs Finest. That means Roachford. That means Wayne. I am more than willing to not just bury the hatchet, but set it on fire and toss it burning into the pile of kindling that is the current stale political scene of the world. But to do that we need everyone united, otherwise we’ll be squashed like a sad little bug.

Over the next week or so I’ll be releasing a series of manifestos on my ideas for the eUK. These are going to be broad sweeping manifestos, which highlight general aims rather than specific policy. I very much believe that you have to adapt to survive, and setting myself in stone at this stage doesn’t help anyone. If you hate reading long articles about policy, you’ll love my manifestos. I intend to keep them short and sweet.

And on that note, I will end this article. Thank you for reading, and thank you to everyone who has encouraged me to run. I would be appreciative of the support of any players or parties who would like to work with me- and that includes every UK party and MU. If you’d like to chat, I’m always around on the eUK official discord.

Iain
