The eBrazil problem

Day 1,602, 09:25 Published in South Africa South Africa by Ramet3

Our President wrote a concise summary of our arrangement with eBrazil.

I know some resent the situation.

I do, as I'm pro ONE. However, the following tries to explain why it is a good and the only good solution of our country.

eSA borders a few country. None of them are IRL neighbors. Two of our neighbor are big players in eRepublik: eBrazil and eIndo. Both are well capable of occupying us indefinitely.

Most wars in eRepublik are fought for IRL hatred, hence the many wars in Europe and the less intense fights in other parts. eSA do not have such "natural enemies". Thus we are attacked for our resources.

Resources are an on/off business, a country either have one and enjoy the benefit, or do not have it. Having more than one of the same resource does not help. Thus occupying the whole of eSA only help an occupier to forestall 2 battles at a time: one RW and one normal attack from eSA (this cannot happen if we do not have any province). Thus a peacefull eSA does not need to be fully occupied. Also, strategically it can serve as a buffer between eBrazil and eIndo (thus having eSA on the mad actually benefits eBrazil).

Furthermore, an eBrazil with a full complement of resources - partially thanks to eSA - strengthens the alliance we are in. It also strengthens eSA. Our capitalist can move to these countries and produce resources and weapons in these countries at a higher efficiency. Thus, we can fight with better weapons and advance at a higher rate, than otherwise.

In summary, it is realpolitik. We cannot have a full complement of resources ourselves. By renting out regions instead of fighting endless RWs we (1) get gold, (2) alliance membership, (3) potential to work in a country with full resources.

As a last note. Other smaller countries do it too. For example, eAustria routinely rents out its regions. There is no shame in this!
