The Dream
The old man, asleep at last, started to dream.
He sat in a quiet, somewhat darkened room,
with Ibn Arabi and Lao-tsu, it seemed.
“I dreamt and in this dream,
the date Sunday, April 2, 6AM was given,
the dream was true
but no year, nor place was disclosed!”
“Ah!” , said Ibn Arabi with a smile,
“you dream that you dreamt a dream of seeing.
I think there are five planes of Being:
-The plane of the Essense
-the plane of the Attributes and the Names, the Presence of the Divinity
-the plane of Actions, the Presence of Lordship
-the plane of Images and Imagination
-the plane of the senses and sensible experience.
It seems to me that you have dreamt
into the plane of Actions (rububiyah).
“Ah!”
replied Tao-tzu,
“it is not useful to separate Being and Non-Being
as you suggest.
This is a Transmutation of Things (wu hau)
And you are blessed.
Don’t you see the joke in dreaming this?”
And he Laughed.
The old man dreamed he awoke.
He laughed.
