The Do's and Don'ts of Battle! A Beginner's Guide to Reclamation and Victory

Day 1,156, 23:54 Published in South Africa South Africa by Shiloh DeGreat

Hello South Africa,

As all of you should be aware, eSouth Africa has taken the offensive and begun to reclaim a few of its territories. I'd like to take this time to introduce you all to some of the fighting mechanics to help make you a better fighter!

Let's start with the basics.

What makes fights possible?
In reality, war is a serious thing that can tear apart friends, families, and cultures. In eRepublik, it is not so grim(stone). In eRepublik, wars can and will be used to help citizens grow stronger. Wars are also used for conquests, just like in reality. Of course, the benefits of war always come at a cost, so be prepared to spend a few dollars in fighting.

How do I find the battlefied?
On your home page there's always a list of battles you can fight it. The game will separate crucial battles (i.e. battles your country is directly involved in) from battles your country's allies are currently fighting in. There's also some "Campaign of the Day" thing that I'm guessing is for two-clickers who aren't in the military. I'm pretty sure everyone but two-clickers ignores it.

From your home page, you can click the big "FIGHT" button and it will take you to the battlefield, which looks like this:

Great . . . what's it all mean? Also, lol@poverty

Here's a horribly-edited picture to hopefully clarify things for you. Thanks, MS Paint!

POINTS I DIDN'T MAKE IN THE PICTURE:

First of all, that blue bar that's filling up above the "FIGHT" button is your rank (emblem shown at the far left of the bar) and how close you are to achieving a new rank. Also, if you can't read, that Green text says, "Eat Food". I was too lazy to make another text box. Everything else will be covered soon enough.

Alright, I get what it means, so what do I do?

First of all, think before you fight. Battles are fought with multiple rounds, and your influence may go to waste when it could have been spent elsewhere. In crucial battles, it would be much more helpful to your allied side to fight in a place needing assistance. Here are a few pictures to explain.

This is the influence bar. It will show the two warring factions as well as recent influence (aka how much damage a player dealt). On the far left and far right it shows the current Battle Heroes. They are the ones who have done the most damage in the round, and whoever is Battle Hero at the end of the round gets a medal and treasure map, so many soldiers like to compete with each other.

Below the faction your fighting for's Battle Hero is your total influence. Obviously, this will start at zero, but depending on your fights, it will increase.

So tell me how to add influence

Once you enter the battlefield, you're automatically paired with someone. You are not directly fighting them, it is a random pairing and I'm not too sure how it works. Therefore, don't take it personally if you ever see yourself fighting a friend. Just do what I did and take screencaps while laughing maniacally.

Refer back to my first picture. As you can see, I have an opponent waiting for me. In order to fight, click the FIGHT button. This will cost you 10 Health. You will take a certain amount of damage away from your opponent's health (not in-game, mind you, just in the battle). Depending on their health, it may take three hits to finish the job, but it usually only takes two. After defeating your enemy, you are awarded with this screen:

War influence is obviously how much influence you've just added to the influence bar. This number is entirely dependent upon your strength, rank, and times fought. YOU WILL NOT ADD INFLUENCE UNTIL YOUR OPPONENT IS DEFEATED! This means that if you fight twice and your opponent has 6 HP left, you have to suck it up and deal that coup de grace, costing you another 10 Health. On the plus side, each fight adds to how much total influence you'll input, meaning you'll give more influence by fighting three times and defeating your opponent than by defeating him/her with two.

So what happens with my influence?
As I've mentioned, it gets added to the influence bar. your goal is to have the blue bar past the grey arrows before the round ends (each round is two hours long, also refer to the earlier picture of the influence bar if needed).

At the end of each round, a message like this will pop up:

The pop up shows a picture of a crown. These crowns also appear underneath the name of the warring factions. Whenever one of the factions wins a round, one of their crowns is filled in with color (as opposed to the transparent-ish interior it normally has). Once a side reaches all eight crowns, they are victorious.

And that's the basics of how to wage war, my friends!

FINAL TIPS!!!!

1. As mentioned, choose your battles when fights are crucial, such as now. Check all the battles. If a region has over 60% influence in your favor (you can get a percentage by hovering your mouse over the influence bar), I'd suggest you choose another region or hold your fire. Every bit of influence can make a difference.

2. The Health Pack and Instant Defeat buttons aren't worth it. For 1G you could buy a decent weapon, and for .5 G you could buy more than enough food to provide 10 HP.

3. If you have a weapon in your inventory, it will be used. You can only fight bare-handed if you have no weapons.

4. Fight smart and fight safe. It's very easy to go overboard, and once that happens you can say goodbye to having a reliable job.

And that's about all I have to say. Happy hunting, eSA!
