The Despair of Beginnings [pre-V1 Archive]

Ah! Fresh faced I gladly plunged into this burgeoning new world, keen to discover new sights and sounds... well, possibly more of the former really. Yet, confusion met me, as though after an abrupt awakening from a strange dream. [So forgive me if this article is somewhat addled] Joining "The New World" as an original resident of a certain land sandwiched between the landmasses of Thailand and Indonesia, I was confounded by the apparent randomness and lack of choice in the available e-countries to which I could begin yet another new e-life.


Resourceful creature that I am, I checked nearby nations. Perhaps they might somehow include lesser nations within. Thailand... nope. Indonesia then. List of regions.....Jakarta.... Perth and Canberra!?!?!!! I reeled from shock let me tell you. Obviously I neglected much e-education, in particular e-history. In any case, I later found out that the tentacles of war were present here too...

Failing to find this country I pondered; where else in the world would I like to be... hmmm perhaps the US. Well on an actual global aspect, affiliations with this said nation seem to bear somewhat of a stigma due to political realities... which is a shame since it has a lovely variety of nature due to it having rather generous geographical aspects. UK? Well I do like its culture somewhat, but then again, I also don't. Furthermore, its climate and land is something I don't really care too much for it. Not that its hot because it isn't; except in summer where temperatures recently just soar! Not that its cold, since I like it so. Its just too uniform. Nice forests though, where they still stand.

So... Cold it is! North! Nordic states! Well, nice weather (in my humble opinion) all year round. But to be honest I know next to nothing about its culture which hopefully I WILL remedy some fine day. RUSSIA! Well it's huge... and I hardly know it, despite cravings to see Siberia and Kamchatka. Not to mentioned yet another conquered state. South then! Well Austral.... is also conquered. And it's not really south enough. The only place south enough would be Antarctica which sadly has hardly any population in even in reality as yet. Its also I daresay a tad bit too south. Even for me.

Compromise! Not too hot but I know and like the culture and countryside (which I find to be the true measure of a country... perhaps these are or could be implemented into Erepublik somehow?). Japan well I don't really know much Japane.... but Erepublik supports English! Hmmm. Culture... I like. Land... pretty. Climate... pretty cool except maybe in summer. Snow in winter!!!! And in summer in high places like Hokkaido. Yes Japan it is. But where.... hmmm. Kanto --> Tokyo.... is crowded... even here relatively speaking. Kansai --> hmmm? Where is it?!?! Oh its called Kinki here... which I've never liked. Sounds similar to a certain English adjective... Ah! Shikoku. Hmmm.... oh they make mikan!!! Yay! Ehime Mikan! Ichijo Ma.... ahem nevermind.

Well anyway that how I landed here; with a clear vison in mind! That crashed and crumbled against the rocks and reefs of e-reality. And so I floated around, flailing amidst increasing frustration and finally thankfully washed ashore onto lovely "pine tree mountain".
