The Democratic Action League Platform

Day 732, 22:10 Published in Canada Canada by Democratic Action League

The Democratic Action League, DAL, is a grass-roots eCanadian political party that represents new and veteran Canadian players alike. DAL members work side by side shaping party policy, electing representatives and voting on important party decisions. Our efforts are conducted democratically by all members within the DAL forums: http://feudalist.forumotion.com/ The following text represents the official DAL party platform. Within this platform, you will see our position on social services, the economy, the military and foreign affairs.

DAL SOCIAL SERVICES POLICY:

The Democratic Action League believes in helping all Canadians.

The most important part of creating fully functioning and powerful social services, in regards to the ‘behind the scenes’ work, is deciding, along with the Ministry of Finance, how much tax money needs to be circulated throughout eCanada to provide benefits to every Canadian in need. In addition, there are other programs that cost very little, but produce great results through the volunteerism of dedicated Canadians. DAL supports implementation of the following programs to ensure we remain a nation dedicated to providing top quality social services and the quality of life that goes with them.

New citizen fee. DAL supports lowering the New Citizen Fee so that it is enough to purchase only a few pieces of food. When new citizens have enough experience, the government shall provide a moving ticket to a Q5 hospital region, where the new citizens can fight their wellness up and be efficient on the battlefield. Together, with proper education (to be discussed), this provides numerous benefits. The government will not be shelling out funds that will never be used by many new citizens that drop out of the game. At the same time, we develop and strengthen our defenses by locating the citizen in one of our strategic zones of defense. The citizen will be given enough to keep them well and with training becomes a more productive and happier Canadian.

Bursary. DAL supports the continued absence of the CAD proponent to the Bursary (an older social services program). Instead, we support seeing the Bursary used to supply gifts and higher level foods to support these players, and keep them well and productive. The citizen will receive the Bursary by joining the eCanada forums and requesting proper masking.

Ministry of Social Services. We support creation of a new Ministry, the Ministry of Social Services. This ministry would be dedicated to helping new citizens in need. They would provide mentoring to these new players to look after them. Mentors provide insight and training into game mechanics such as wellness, fighting properly, etc. The Ministry of Social Services would monitor new citizen’s wellness and when in need provide gifts to keep their wellness above 40% so that they can fight when they reach level five. We expect that with proper training and understanding, very few gifts would have to be supplied. The Ministry of Social Services would also give the citizen a friend in a large and strange new eWorld.

Welcome message. DAL supports creation of a short, yet concise welcome message with relevant links to the eCanada Center forums, the government organization responsible for social services, different eRepublik tools, and, of course, a nice message to make them feel welcome. Proper registration in the eCanada Center forums will be a required condition to be met to receive the afore mentioned Bursary.

Minimum wage. DAL supports retaining the existing minimum wage of $1.50 CAD, which we feel is at an acceptable balanced level to provide enough funding, provide plenty of jobs, yet not hurt Canadian business

Lottery. DAL supports operation of the Canadian Government Lottery with some government money thrown into the pot. We also support occasional ‘surprise lotteries’ of houses, weapons, etc. Lottery winning will circulate throughout eCanada, and the profits gained by the government in operating the lottery can be used to fund charities and other government programs.

Charities. DAL supports careful government expenditure on certified non-political charities. There are often numerous examples of private non-political organizations that rely on donations. We would like to see the Canadian government do more to foster these operations.

Collaboration. The Ministry of Social Services, Ministry of Education, and Canadian Health Services would all work together to help as many citizens as possible. Implementing the ideas in the DAL social services plan would actually help us save money rather of losing it, which could be used to help those who need it the most. Canada would also be saving money by avoiding new players quitting the game and dying. At the same time, Canada would be creating skilled productive players who would be a benefit to the Canadian economy and military operations.

DAL ECONOMIC POLICY:

The Democratic Action League believes in a strong, globally competitive economy.

DAL’s goals are to support both Canadian business and Canadian citizens in the economic arena. We believe that when the Canadian economy is as strong as it can be, both Canadian businesses and Canadian citizens can prosper together. A strong economy also means government revenue to support the many worthy programs that the Canadian government implements for the benefit of its citizens. And a strong economy means the CAF will remain strong to defend our great nation. The DAL positions to encourage our collective economic growth are as follows:

Taxes. We believe in lowered, sustainable income taxes for citizens. They must be balanced to maintain the government revenue, but low enough to ensure our citizens can save and be prosperous. We support measured approaches to adjusting income taxes based on carefully analysis of our economic statistics. We believe in keeping the VAT down to minimums, to enable Canadian business to grow strong and provide jobs and good salaries for Canadian citizens.

Import tariffs. DAL believes in strong import tariffs where warranted ensuring that Canadian business can profit in Canadian markets – not by raising prices, but by gaining a greater share of our own markets from foreign competition. Import tariffs should be carefully adjusted after serious analysis to ensure that Canadian business can remain competitive and profit. When Canadian business prosper, so too does the Canadian population. We would much rather give the start-up business by a new citizen a fighting chance, than give away our markets to foreign companies that include those of our enemies. We support low import tariffs for only weapons and iron to ensure that that the CAF and our citizen military can remain armed for low cost, and build up their damage points and increase in rank to keep Canada strong. Canada has tremendously strong production of raw materials due to our many high-resource regions. Our import tariffs should be high enough to encourage Canadian economic growth in these sectors.

Currency value. We believe that a balanced approach to the value of the CAD versus gold is warranted. The value of the CAD should be high enough that our currency is strong, but not high enough so that our business can’t compete in export markets. When Canada exports, our businesses prosper and we bring gold into the Canadian economy. Overseas sales ensure more jobs paying higher wages for Canadians. This is done by ensuring that the value of the CAD does not become so high, that our companies can’t compete with foreign ones. Again, a measured approach is necessary. This is to be done on a regular basis by monitoring the value of stable foreign currencies and our import-export ratio.

Minimum wage. We are against any lowering of the minimum wage. One of the hallmarks of the Democratic Action League is supporting new citizens to ensure they can become good players to help grow our nation. The minimum wage is suitable where it is now. We do not believe in raising the minimum wage, because as we have seen in the past, the only result is an almost complete loss of jobs for lower skill level citizens. We support other governmental programs to help our new citizens prosper economically including education, Meals on Wheels Canada, and Ministry of Industry jobs programs.

Strategic stockpiles. DAL believes that the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Industry and other governmental organizations should focus on creating strategic stockpiles of gold, currency and manufactured goods including weapons, moving tickets and gifts. By having stockpiles in place Canada can stand ready to defend against any military threat. A prepared Canada is a safe Canada.

Government intervention into the marketplace. DAL believes in the free hand of the market economy. Sometimes, however, prices rise too high or other factors require the Ministry of Finance to use its resources to ensure that things don’t get out of control. For that reason, and only when really warranted, we support the government’s ability to make adjustments in the markets using financial tools at their disposal. DAL supports the current intervention of the government to ensure food prices do not rise too high, to where citizens have difficulty to afford putting food on their table. Aside from that, we feel that the government should avoid regulating markets aside from when it is only critical.

Government purchasing. We feel that the purchases that the government makes should be made at the lowest prices possible from Canadian firms in the open market. We are against long-term, single-source contracts with private companies. By this we can ensure that we operate our government efficiently.

Crown corporations. DAL supports the government’s use of crown corporations in select industries to enable the government to be able to provide important beneficial programs to our citizens. Examples include producing low-cost food for Meals on Wheels; providing jobs programs to entry level to new citizens in the manufacturing and construction skill set; building up strategic reserves; and production of low-cost, high-quality hospitals and defense systems.

Government loans. DAL does not believe in a government loans program. All too often in the past, government loans programs were run to benefit a few influential citizens and businesses as opposed to the Canadian majority. Often these loans were never paid back resulting in a drain of our tax dollars to private entities. We believe the government should encourage private banks to develop loan programs. There are enough private loan operations in business today; and feel the government should not be taking on this risk with the tax dollars of our citizens.

DAL MILITARY POLICY:

The Democratic Action League believes in our military.

Military size. The DAL is proud of our military and is pleased in the progress seen over the past several months. With the introduction of the Rangers program and a renewed Reserves program, all Canadians are able to and encouraged to join the CAF at the appropriate level that best fits with their goals. Taking the view that bigger is always better, the DAL would increase funding to the CAF so that as troops move through the Rangers to the Reserves there will be room for them in the CAF Regulars. We are proud to see that a 4th Division has been created and hope to see a 5th soon; we have the men, we just need to allocate the money. The DAL will not spare any expense to see our full-time troop levels increased even further while also funding the Rangers and Reserves with occasional weapons for training and full weapons in case of an attack on Canadian soil.

Military funding. To maintain adequate funding levels of the CAF, the DAL proposes that no money be set aside in the budget for the purchase of defense systems. Defense systems are only of any value (if any) if there is a large enough population to create a high wall. Only if a plan is put in place to populate our border regions would we reconsider their placement there. We believe that we should keep defense systems in reserve for strategic placement if we are under attack. We support the construction of defense systems by the Ministry of Industry, but would like to see any surplus defense systems sold to our allies to raise gold for the strategic reserves.

DAL sees no need to drastically alter our basic military funding structure other than to promote the purchasing of weapons and tickets from verified Canadians suppliers. We are not expressly opposed to suggestions of using CAF personnel to create weapons and tickets of our own, however the arguments and suggestions put forward at this time are less than convincing. We would also suggest, as there are no funding problems at the moment, that any Canadian Government or CAF run company keep their stocks in strategic reserve for the day when we need them to defend Canada from her enemies. Save more for a rainy day, rather than to use them up completely for CAF operations as they are created.

Our gratitude. In addition to our sincerest debt of gratitude to the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF), DAL would once again like to thank all those citizens who fought bravely and with little regard to their own personal fortunes to help retake our country from the enemies of democracy and freedom. In particular, DAL would like to thank the Canadian resistance movements, The Canadian Resistance Movement and Bruck’s Canucks. Thank you! Together our first job is done and first goal achieved, Canada is ours again.

Future operations. As such, the DAL believes that there is no longer a strong need for resistance organizations as military structures. We suggest that these groups be melded into the CAF. DAL is not opposed to the funding and supply structures of the resistance movements and sees no incongruence between them and enlistment within the CAF. DAL asks the resistance movements to follow CAF or civilian instructions rather than turn to mercenary operations. This will ensure that neither resources nor damage is spent unnecessarily. DAL supports the new supply schemes that the CAF has implemented. We suggest that the CAF work with the resistance movements to continue to collectively develop new supply schemes using the best and brightest ideas. Our second job is beginning – the defense of Canada. As we learned in the past, we shall always remain vigilant.

DAL FOREIGN AFFAIRS POLICY:

The Democratic Action League believes in Canada’s friends and allies.

Alliances. DAL has always believed in helping not only Canada but also our friends and allies from other countries. We support helping our allies improve as much as we want to see Canada improve. By improving our allies and helping them develop their armies and their economy, it helps them to be strong and helps defend Canada. Canada has helped fund a Q5 hospital for Switzerland so they can work on improving their population base and attract more immigrants and new players. The result is the strength of our friends abroad, and continued and new alliances that will help protect and defend Canada. DAL supports continuing the Canadian policy of helping our allies and friends.

The last wave of PEACE GC attacks ended with great successes in part due to Canada’s great alliances. This proves why we need to continue to work with EDEN and the Brolliance. Like the demise of the Berlin wall, PEACE GC has fallen apart. We strongly believe in working with our allies to liberate regions abroad, to fight oppression and to dismantle enemy alliances. We shall never forget what our allies have done for us in the past, and we still stand by our allies during their times of need too.

Foreign affairs and intelligence programs. DAL supports a strong foreign affairs program. This program is embodied in Canada’s many Ambassadors and in the CSIS. Through both of these operations we can keep an ever vigilant watch and communications with the other nations of the world. As it was said in the past, keep your friends close and your enemies closer. These programs provide Canada with the intelligence we need to ensure our defense and to keep us at the ready should a new threat emerge. DAL supports the continued active use of both our Department of Foreign Affairs and the CSIS.

SUMMARY

The Democratic Action League (DAL) is a democratically run party for the benefit of all Canadians. We are Canadian patriots focused on the best interests of Canada. Of any country, we believe that Canada should have the strongest economy, the toughest military, the most tender social services program, and friendliest and most vigilant foreign affairs program of any country in the eWorld. We urge our fellow countrymen and women to support DAL’s policies in the best interest of Canada and encourage you to join with us.

Sincerely, The Democratic Action League
