The Day eRep Stood Still

Day 406, 18:43 Published in USA Israel by Moishe

This article is probably not going to be what you expect. You are probably expecting an arousing commendation for all the wonderful attributes of DesertFalcon and a scathing report on the loyal opposition. That is not going to happen. I have steadily opposed any disparagement of the other candidates and continue in that vein.

About the loyal opposition:

Justinious? Highly active in the forums. In fact I have actually commented to Justin about the need to post in nearly every thread. That is not a condemnation. It is just an observation. Justin definitely loves the eUSA. He is one of the people who took part in the initialization of many things including the eUSA Military which is my main concern.

Uncle Sam? One of the most successful in many venues. Possibly a little more egotistical than I would like but there is nothing wrong with tooting your own horn. I rather like the fellow and do not see that changing regardless of the outcome of the election.

PrincessMedyPi? I am afraid that I have to admit I know very little about this young lady other than she has definitely shown herself to be active since her return to the eUSA. We've chatted on IRC and she seems to be a decent sort.

GoBucks? One of my best buds. I was rather daunted when I heard of his run with Uncle Sam. Not because I was "skeered" but because sometimes these aspects of ePolitics set people aside when they really "shouldn't oughta". I highly respect GoBucks and wish him the best in every thing he does.

DesertFalcon and Me

How did I get teamed up with DesertFalcon? I've pondered that myself. Justin and Princess seem to be quite similar in their goals and takes on things from the economy to the war. Uncle Sam and GoBucks are also quite close in their diagnosis of what is needed in the eUSA. DesertFalcon and I have some major differences. Those differences range from opinions on the military to what to do about the war(s) in Europe to dealing with the economy.

Throughout history political candidates have sought a dynamic opposition in their campaigns to bring balance to the force. A ying and a yang so to speak. DesertFalcon has also chosen someone who has a tendency to voice his opinion, often quite vocally. If I differ with him on an issue there is no doubt I will let him know.

USWP Endorsement

To me that means very little. In fact I'll use a quote found in the President Pro-tem's signature to make my point, "Never be afraid to stand with the minority when the minority is right, for a minority which is right will one day be the majority." -William Jennings Bryan

I know many members of the USWP and I know they are not zombies. That many vote the party line is mainly because they have commonality in their convictions. But that is not always so. Most are very independent in their stances and they will vote the way they believe is best for the eUSA. That is true of all of our political parties. Sure, each party will want "it's man" (or woman) in the White House. That gives them so-called "bragging rights", something to which many aspire in climates similar to eRepublik. Having been in the political arena in other eWorlds (such as Planet Bob) I understand this.

What We Want

The bottom line is that we all want a better eMerica. We want a stronger, better organized military; we want new eCitizens who are active and actually stay on the job more than one day; we want prices to go down and wages to go up. We all want to own companies, make lots of gold, and become heroes in the war.

So does the DesertFalcon/Moishe team promise these things to everybody? Hell yeah! Ok, no. Such things are impossible to promise.

Bobby Kennedy once said political conventions are only for members of the party to pat each other on the back and say what jolly good fellows we are. They rarely convert anybody. Such could also be said about newspaper articles. They give us a chance to practice our adverbial skills so we can then sit back and say, "Wow! I wrote an awesome article. Ain't I the cat's pajamas!"

So maybe this isn't all that awesome. And maybe it didn't change anyone's minds. But it should give us an opportunity to have some groovy comment debates.

One last note: When this election is over and the winner sits in the eWhite eHouse let's start pulling together. If we don't we are surely going to pull this eNation apart.

Be well, my Friends!
