The Dawn of a New Era
Reiji Mitsurugi
天皇 に たいして 忠義しろ!
The voting has begun. The Constitution of the Great Japanese Empire has undergone the scrutiny of the Imperial Diet for nearly a month, and had been in development long before then. It is time, finally, for the Imperial Sun Party's promised constitution.
The voting will continue for three days. Ending at 5:30 on September 1st. At which point, the Empire will have its guiding document, and at last a cultural guardian, a true leader, an embodiment of all that is Japanese. We will have an Emperor.
The document requires the approval of two thirds of present and voting representatives, and every citizen in Japan must have their say. It is therefore imperative that all citizens see that their representatives cast their votes. Write your congressmen with your opinions. Make yourself heard.
A new era of Japanese glory will soon begin. And it is up to us, the people of Japan, to usher it in.
The text of the constitution is here and the voting is here.
天皇陛下 万歳!

Does an Emperor not require an Empire? Doesn't the Imperial Sun Party propose giving up the Korean provinces?
Article 13 Section 2 states that we will defend ANY country from attack! No right minded member of Congress would sign us up to commit our military to the defence of the entire eWorld!
The Emperor is a player and not just a figurehead?? He has to have a job, maybe plowing fields in a Grain company to make enough to eat? He isn't allowed political power but can give out titles to his buddies?? An unbroken line from another player and he gets to choose a friend as the next emperor???

ATTENTION ALL MEMBERS of CONGRESS:
Ensure you read the small print before you sign up to Reiji's glory project. It imprisons eJapan within one mans dream and will cause trouble ever after.
Vote NO to a player as unelected Emperor
Vote NO to political nepotism
Vote NO to volunteering eJapan as the worlds policeman
Vote NO to one mans quest for glory
Vote NO to this version of a constitution

The imperator of Great Japanese Empire will be Dio Akira.
The emperor will be Dio Akira over my dead body.

With this vote we might finally see the dawn of a new era. Please vote NO to the proposal of the honorable Reiji Mitsurugi-san. While I respect and admire the work and passion he has shown, I have a vision of an inclusive eJapan that will be a part of federation or confederation of nations, and do not wish to give birth to an Emperor and dreams of Imperialism. On the other hand, it sure would be fun to be able to shout the eJapanese version of "Die for Drago!" (replacing Drago with "Die for the Emperor!") but then they would accuse us of bringing our eNorthKorean traditions to eJapan 🙂
Hail Drago and most Glorious Nation of North Korea and most Honourable peoples of Japan to make for peace and free nation of South Korea!
Im sure Drago would be a great Shogun for peoples of Japan and Korea.
I voted yes. Installing cultural traditions through a non-binding document takes nothing away from those citizens who do not wish to participate or be a part of it. I understand Sophia's concerns on the wording, even if I do not share them. But I do not understand voting against the Constitution on principle. There is no "principle" at risk from a non-binding document and a figurehead position.
I respect Mitsurugi-san for attempting to bring a different cultural element into the game and lure new players into our country. This is something we should all be doing, the glory and success of Japan is that of all of us individually.
Any member of Congress voting yes to a closed shop of buddies slapping each others backs by making each ohter emperor in turn and giving each other titles and honours as well as signing up eJapanese army to defend any and all countries ever attacked are crazy and are just voting themselves out of office come the next Congress election.
What we're seeing is this "Kevlin" fellow opposing the establishment of a Harmonious Society. He hates the idea of the Righteous Nation, that philosophy which has seen Japan as a beacon of international morality. It was the adherence to that very philosophy that led our North Korean friends to choose Japan as their new home after losing their own.
This "Kevlin" character would rather see our nation become some sort of objectivist mess, acting only in the interests of his own profit, rather than what is right. Listen not to his hateful lies. There is only the love of the people in this document. Only the love of the future. Only the love of our great nation.
And who is "no1kevlin" anyway? He holds no titles of respect and never has.
Who am I? Who is Crawling Chaos? We are representatives in the Diet and national officials. We are the servants of Japan.
To whom do the people of Japan listen?
If I recall, Kevlin was the one in Korea trying the hardest to get power.
And who is smily? Leader of the Korean National Party for as long as I can remember. Twice an congressman. A voice for Koreans everywhere.
What is Kevlin?
What does it matter?
I support the constitution, No1Kevlin many eJapanese politicians try very hard to gear our foreign policy toward Representative Mitsurugi's "Righteous Nation" philosophy.
eJapan WILL defend any nation that we can, that deserves our help. Just like we tried in defense of Germany.
Citizens understand that the emperor is a cultural figurehead, who has no real power aside from that which we choose to give him. Game mechanics to not cater to the fictional emperors and documents we pass into legislation.
Support eJapanese culture, vote yes!
I think the constitution is a fine idea. It is, by no means, to be taken word for word in a direction that would lead Japan down the path of destruction. Minister KITA Ikki once described it as a good blueprint for good governance.
The establishment of an Emperor is a fun idea, regardless of who the emperor is and your personal opinion.
Should the constitution need an amendment in the future, it will just be proposed to congress and put to the vote. Simple.
Therefore, I think Minister Reiji Mitsurugi's hardwork and enthusiasm in this document should not go unnoticed.
In response to No1Kevlin's remarks
=======================
An elected emperor? That sorta defeats the whole purpose of this as cultural piece... It'd be purely a popularity contest once again.
Next, it is not neopoliticalism or whatever since the emperor holds no real powers. Slapping each other with a powerless position must be great when in fact this has been debated and agreed upon that the "Emperor" would not take part in any politcs, be it party or country.
Next, it is merely a statement that reserves eJapan the "right" to defend any nation. All nations have that right, to defend other nations, it's all part of a nation's soverignty. Next, someone would say it's bad that the document doesn't have it. That we were forfeiting our right to defend any nation... From what I've seen eJapan has always embodied the spirit to be a peaceful nation and to promote a peaceful world. It's completely fitting.
One man's glory? Why, then Reiji would have proposed himself as the Emperor... and not someone else. Kokawa never took part in the negotiations and wasn't the one behind the idea, to my knowledge. A cultural piece is hardly a quest for glory...
ISP has always said that we would release the Korean regions. The constitution itself lends itself much more to eJapan itself and the eJapanese regions in that sense. eKorean regions have been held by us but I really consider it just that, in name. Had the congress elections been successful for our friends, this is not something that would have blocked the transfer of regions.
You're thinking to heavily about real life examples about the word "Empire" and suggesting that that would apply equally here.
I quote:
"The Righteous Nation is a guardian. When one nation seeks to annex another through force of arms or otherwise infringe on the sovereign rights of an independent state, the Righteous Nation has a duty to stand as that nation's guardian."
Thia specifically commits eJapan to defned any and all countrie under attack and leaves no room for interpretation. In will put us in conflict with our fellow members in PEACE and Sol and mean that all congressmen and the President will be in breach of the constitution immediately once a war is declared anywhere in the world and we do not move to support the nation under attack.
This constitution is flawed in many ways and people should read it before deciding they like the 'idea' of it.
And the name is no1kevlin mr iji surugi
Dubster, I am already the Shogun
Yoshiteru Ashikaga
First Shogun of the Ashikaga Shogunate
The Righteous Nation philosophy is just that, a philosophy, not a guideline. You are interpreting the constitution literally, the support alluded to in that passage can mean many things, to include the lack of action or lack of communication. The passage simply attempts to state that Japan is not only a peaceful nation, but will support peace around the world whenever possible.
And again, the constitution does not compel any actions, of anyone. It is a detailing of the philosophies that Japan embodies. No one would be forced to do anything by the words of this constitution.
Although I am not officially going to stay in eJapan for my elife, I do support the idea of seeing who wants the constitution. As they say, Laissez-faire (let the people do as they choose)!
So, if the constitution will have no real effect, and the emperor no real authority nor power, people who don't agree will not have to in any way... why to vote?
I mean, as long as its clear that nobody have to consider it real if he or she does not want to, then everybody can have his or her own version of the constitution and also be consider someone else the emperor. All of them will have the same authority (none) and will be respected by those who want to.
It's not different at all from an ereligion. Just called by a different name.
By that logic, why play the game at all? We all choose to be a part of a community. The constitution is an attempt to deepen the culture of that community. The idea is that people give their input so that it can represent the desires of the people.
I am undecided and have not cast my vote yet. I'll wait until more time has passed for citizens to comment.
@ no1kevlin
People don't even strictly interpret the constitutions of nations IRL, and you expect people to blindly follow philosophical commitments in a game where they are in no way bound to?
You are an alarmist, my friend

1 day old and a shogun, you're super awesomo 2000 buddy. Have a biscuit and jog on!
Slating kevlin for not liking the idea is no way to win support.
If a nation wants a spiritual leader to hail and die for they will be found through the praise of the people not a document thats voted for because someone thought it was a good idea at the time.
While there may be no way to enforce the particulars of the constitution with in-game mechanics, current and future leadership can choose to adhere to the noble tenets it presents. In this way, the document may serve as a rallying point during elections--leaders ignore the constitutional rules at their own peril, and opposition candidates can use the document to clearly establish their own positions. In theory, informed voters can then decide who to vote for within this established framework, rather than voting for "whose avatar is hotter." (the REAL reason I voted for Yumiko Tsuzuki in the last congressional election, although she has since changed her hot Japanese girl avatar to an anime girl I don't like as much 😛)
If I could vote on this, I would vote in favor. Long live the Japanese nation and the Japanese people!

The Shogun demands your respect!
Yoshiteru Ashikaga

The reason that Kokawa was picked for Emperor was because of the fact that he knows Japanese culture very well, can speak Japanese, and holds the same morality that the constitution suggests. At least, that is what I have been told and would expect the emperor of Japan to know. To be honest and completely un-biased, there is just nobody else that fits the description better.
Suggesting that this is just a way to help friends get ahead is silly. None of the 'old guard' took part in the making of this constitution, and none of us suggested him for Emperor. End of story.
