The Case for Ireland to Join Fortis/Eden!!
Turd Fergusen
Ireland! Greetings, brothers from across the pond!
I write this article to make a case for Ireland to join F/E (or simply help them) in the ongoing and epic power struggle between PEACE GC and F/E.
I, Turd Fergusen (it’s a funny name) am a eUS citizen. I joined erepublik early in the war. A war I didn’t even understand at first. After my home state of Pennsylvania was overrun by the forces of PEACE, and left ravished and desolate, I fled to Florida where I have since remained, fighting for the resistance against the PEACE occupation against my once proud country.
As you well know, PEACE GC has started a worldwide, imperialistic, and ruthless campaign against both F/E and neutral countries alike. Ireland, I know has always been a proponent of self determination of a country by its own people in RL and in eRepublik alike. You yourselves have suffered before under the iron fist of foreign occupation under the Romanian PTO group (and I don’t even want to go into the RL issue of northern Ireland) Greece, a neutral nation felt the pressure of PEACE's imperialist take over attempt and the noble nation of Ireland stepped up against this injustice and signed a MPP with Greece. I ask that the great nation of Ireland step up and aid the eUS and its allies in the foreign takeover of north america and other unjust wars across the eWorld started by PEACE GC. PEACE’s war against us is a blatant contradiction of its founding principles and an injustice against the ruling principles of self determination. Will Ireland stand for this?
Naysayers will say that Ireland will face a threat of retaliation by PEACE if you were to join F/E against them. This is true, but unlike PEACE, Fortis/Eden protects its allies. You will be given the power of the 13 MPP of F/E nations. Against these, no PEACE nation can possibly succeed in conquering you. Ireland has no MPP against it by any country in the world and if attacked, it would be Ireland’s 13 MPP vs. the attacking country, most likely the UK or Hungary. It has been proven in the North American war. The eUSA and its 13 F/E mpp was more than enough to throw Indonesia, the most powerful nation in the world, off the continent.
F/E is a very tight knit group of nations, brought together even more by the wars against our homelands, and the realization of mistakes made in the past. It is guaranteed that Ireland would receive the same appreciation and protection as any other Fortis/Eden nation. PEACE, as mighty as they are, does not appreciate the needs of most of its member nations. PEACE is mostly about the big boys. Either Indonesia or Hungary. For example, Italy was left unprotected against a brutal PTO, the UK our old allies, were left for dead in the protection of their colonies in Canada, Russia was forced to pay a shit ton of gold to Hungary to buy back their own region.
Right now is the time to join an alliance Ireland! The two great powers are ravaging the world, Ireland, itself is without MPP’s and might eventually get swallowed up by hostile PEACE nations. Neutral nations are no longer safe! YOU NEED PROTECTION! This holocaust poem, by Martin Niemöller sums up what I am trying to say quite well:
"First they came for the Communists, and I didn’t speak up, because I wasn’t a Communist. Then they came for the Jews, and I didn’t speak up, because I wasn’t a Jew. Then they came for the Catholics, and I didn’t speak up, because I was a Protestant. Then they came for me, and by that time there was no one left to speak up for me."
Germany subjugated the people of Europe because as one group was oppressed, others would do nothing because it did not concern them directly. In the end Germany conquered them one by one where as if they united to stand up against oppression, they might have prevailed against the Germans. Ireland and the rest of the world may suffer this same fate by PEACE. If we stand together, Ireland, and the other free countries of the globe, we can stop PEACE and forge a new world order that respects a countries right to self determination!
I hope I have made the case that Fortis/Eden is the right alliance to join, so that we may continue our relationship as it was during peace times, when we were partners in training wars for the betterment of both of our nations. Think hard Ireland, and think well. This will be a hard decision but I am sure it will be the best decision for Ireland to make, and through it, your nation will blossom into the proud Irish nation that I am sure you have the potential to be!

Good article
But I can't see us joining anytime soon.
We don't have enough neutrality propoganda these dayz.......
We are proud already, Sir.
Full blossomed.
Potential recognised and being developed.
.
Thanks for the drop by, Colonel.
Your stance is duly noted.
I'm not saying that you not a proud country. I'm just saying that you have the potential to be even greater. Being a stagnant, neutral country, in my opinion is not the best way to realize your full potential Ireland.
I believe joining would be good for ireland
Duly noted. Very impassioned speech.
Military leaders with greater knowledge than I would be able speak more eloquently about our position than I ever could. I defer to them.
.........
To me it looks like things are good for Ireland as they are. This isn't so much why it would be good for Ireland, but why it would be good for the USA, if Ireland was to join Fortis/EDEN.
Ireland has done a lot for us i.e war games. Joining F/E would allow us to offer you support in more than just military campaigns.
Isn't it also alot more fun to be involved with world affairs, than to be neutral? Where the fighting spirit Ireland?
We are aware of our potential Colonel Fergusen.
(hmmm, name sounds a bit Irish tribe there??)
Changing political landscapes affect the operations of every country's military. Do not imagine, for one moment, that commanding a neutral army of brute-force-savages is an easy or unskilled task, Sir.
You will find we are impassioned warriors to our very hearts, and we have many friends the world over.
.
Many misunderstand our chosen stance.
They should seek dialogue and solutions with us, rather than use the blunt instrument of article pleas.
We are a developed, educated and literary nation.
Our taste for wordsmithing banter is widely known, as I am sure you are aware.
.
If you'd care to step down from your soap-box, I'd welcome a more civilised discussion.
Get in touch.

Yes getting invaded would be loads of fun but No.
Ireland is cool, they're being cool about this war and helping out.
We were and are in close relations to UK. Why would we forfeit that?, And how are YOU going to provide us with protection you speak of while you are barely able to protect yourselves?
All in all lets let the leaders have their chit-chats and draw lines on the map, as those are more solid than ones drawn in the sand.
I would welcome a civilized Socratic discussion about the benefits of neutrality in the near future Grainne, but I for now wish to persuade. That said, my point was that even if Ireland was invaded, which I doubt PEACE even has to stones to do, F/E MPP's would be more than enough to repell the defenders.
When is comes to battles for freedom and honor, I'm surprised to hear this stance from the people of Ireland.
"While the wicked stand confounded, call me with thy saints surrounded
Aequitas – Veritas
In nomine Patris, et Filii, et Spiritus Sancti
Never shall innocent blood be shed. Yet the blood of the wicked shall flow like a river. The three shall spread their blackened wings and be the vengeful striking hammer of god
And shepherds we shall be,
for thee my lord for thee.
Power hath decended forth from thy hand
so our feet may swiftly carry out thy command.
And we shall flow a river forth to thee
and teeming with souls shall it ever be.
When I raise my flashing sword, and my hand takes hold in judgement, I will take vengance upon my enemies and I shall repay those who have hazed me. Oh Lord, raise me to thy right hand and count me among thy saints."
You get UK to join first then Ireland would probably consider the alliance.
Imanewbie. The tides have changed in North America. We are reclaiming our territories day by day. Indonesia, the most powerful nation in the world was pushed out easily, by our alliance. What makes you think that F/E in return could not protect Ireland?
AppleMan: The UK belonged once, and betrayed the trust of their "friends". They will pay a great price for that. Do not dishonor yourself by making it sounds like you are their puppets.
The UK are a bunch of traitors. Join up and we'll give you Northern Ireland : )
cmon ireland! the good ol' USA needs your help!
I am not defending UK, I am simply pointing out that we have traditional good relations with them and do not wish to severe them. Also keep in mind that being Neutral means only that we do not take sides in conflict between you and your aggressors, that means we do not side neither with PEACE nor FORTIS. We do however pick battles based on values we follow and the interest of our country. This is why we helped Greece and TBH I expect more occasions to fight in the future, despite our lack of alignment in your war.
This is an article I like...
Voted.
have to agree about peace not protecting their allies but if we join f/e what would be the immeditate benifite for eirleand apart from the mpps
Haha Aeros. I personally believe that if we were to succeed in the war, that the UK be shown mercy. They may have betrayed us epically, but power is not always best shown in force. Sometimes power is shown by the swallowing of pride, and forgiveness in the foolishness of other. The eUS should be an example for other nations to follow.

If noone wants to attack Ireland, what benefit does a collection on MPPs bring?
Tur😛 I am happy for you to turn back your invaders, however I do not doubt that when it was decided for Ireland NOT to take sides in this conflict it had good merit. I do not see any merit in changing that now, and while your speech is nice you play on fears, ambitions and many other feelings, but provide nothing solid for your claims. If you really wish for Ireland to change its alignment talk to its government. And talk with merit, bring a solid offer for them to consider. This display of social engineering will not get you my support.
I personally think that staying neutral would be the best for our economy..I don't have much experiance but I think that it would only cause internal fighting.
i would love us to join
"If noone wants to attack Ireland, what benefit does a collection on MPPs bring?"
Free daily training wars as long as this World War lasts
But it also endangers our country..
Again, if you wish to engage in a meaningful way, contact me or my ministry. I won't be saying it again.
.
But for the rest of you?
Work away lads, pass around the porter, whiskey, whisky, brandy and cigars, break out the poitin and debate the price of border-cattle.
Talk amongst yourselves now, please......continue on.
Time....Gentlemen...please.
*Is sweeping floor*
Ireland is Neutral I don't want us to move into a middle of a war that we can't win.

IU think the article covered that, did you not read it?
I Hope this happens.
Enthusiastically voted!
i would love to see ireland joined Eden/fortis, and kicking UK ass for what the doing to us, it is time Ireland Rose up and showed the World it will not be messed with
Ireland is most definitely not the puppet of any nation. We weigh the benifits and consequences of every choice we make. So far we have chosen that is is best for Ireland to stay out of entangling foreign alliances.
Just an honest question Patton. If F/E were to guarantee your protection as well as an equal vote in all matters related to the functioning the alliance, would you further think about joining?
Are you adamant about your neutrality or will you be willing to be more flexible as the world atmosphere changes?
What are you looking for in alliances that you either don't see in F/E or does not weigh out against the benefits of neutrality?
I ask this because there is a significant number of Irish citizens that actually do want to participate further in world affairs.
The UK has been good to us. But I disagree with what they did to their former allies. The question is will we be left alone just because we leave others alone? There is little point looking for help from one of the big alliances if the other invades. The benefit of the war on the economy should be taken on lightly, it would up production or say the nation gold but at the risk of our nation itself. If we do need to join an alliance though I would feel a lot better joininf F/E than PGC, the leaders of which have shown utter contempt for their lesser partners. Talking to the people is fine as a way of garnering support, remember the government are there only by our hand.
Will the UK honour the peace they have with us or treat us like they treated their other allies?
Why is Greece the only country we deem worthy of our support?
seconding Patton, but voted anyway, its good to see different opinions.
And I think perhaps Fortis and Eden will see an Irish presence on some level, but probably not until we see good benifits (besides the MPPs).
Éire stays neutral, especially now that PEACE completely surrounds us. Our citizens will be forming guerilla armies (the Imperator is the head of the current one) and that's it. Besides there is no real benefit for the country to join at all even if PEACE wasn't a hostile and crazy conquering bag of bitches.
*Taps the fingers nervously on the barrel iron... watches Semprini with questioning eyes*
"what the hell are we doing here when they're fighting across the pond?" his glances spell without saying a word.
Turd you gotta join the IRP and uphold your cause. We have a plan.
"AppleMan: The UK belonged once, and betrayed the trust of their "friends". They will pay a great price for that. Do not dishonor yourself by making it sounds like you are their puppets."
I can only quote 100%.
Uk no more, after we've been lied to our face. Or have we lost every bit of honor left in these Celtic veins?
i see we have a vote on this a rederfum, i will make one now and post it in a few mins in a new paper
Rollo he's not an irish citizen.... just a propogandist
Sean I see who he is. I am judging the ideas not the person.
JohnSmith, paper is not the right place. The Irish forum should be.
