The Polar News - Issue number 25

This article is a continuation of The Canadian trip - Cesar Augustus Interview

For today's issue I chose to make a double interview with Tom Hagen & Adasko two of the most important members of The Canadian Paradox. Hope you like this edition of The Polar News, don't forget to comment.

Fram: Hy Tom, Hy Adasko, welcome to my small corner of the Canadian Heaven. As you both might now you are here for a small surprise, both for you and for the readers. A double interview with the two main pols of CPP.

Tom_Hagen: Its good to be here Fram.

Adasko: Yes, hi Fram, hi Tom.. .Thanks for the invite.

TH: Whatever you wish to ask I am willing to answer, unless my lawyer tells me I shouldn't!

F: I will start with an easy question for the two of you: Tom, Adasko where are the two of you from Real Life?

TH: United Kingdom for me.

A: I'm from Warsaw, Poland.

F: How come a brit and a pole got involved in the politics of eCanada? When did you decided to leave your own countries and come to eCanada?

TH: I was 'born' in eCanada,.I came from a online forum with fellow members of the forum.

A: I for one, did it for a few reasons. First of all, I didn't feel good in ePoland, which I must say is really restricted in many ways. They don't even have a leftist party... Second of all, I'm actually half-Canadian in real life, and when I've been there, I really enjoyed it.

F: Well I know that Tom founded the party but what about you Adasko? What brought you in the small fammilly called CPP?

A: Well, I came to eCanada in my second month of playing eRep. I was looking through the party's, and choosing them, I must admit, by stats. I saw the Canadian Confederate Front, which was the temporary form of the CPP. When it turned back into the CPP, It turned out to be a great choice... And I stayed.

F: Let's continue with a 'fun' question: If you could be any citizen in eRepublick, any politician, who would you choose to be?

TH: Myself, I have been there and done it all!

A: Well, I might not have been everywhere, however I am currently the Minister of Immigration, and as far as I like the job, well... To be honest, I would like to be president one day, which might sound a little childish. However I do think, that if I would be given the chance, I wouldn't waste it.

F: Tom, you said that you would choose yourself. You are the founder and the spiritual father of CPP. Anything you'd change with the party or your progress in eRepublik so far?

TH: Yes I would Fram, I have two major regrets: my impeachment as President in December and the major inactivity that the CPP used to suffer from.

F: Adasko, you said that you would want to be the president of eCanada one day, do you think CPP has the political strength to support you?

A: Well, as the latest elections show, We are becoming a major force on the political arena, and We have gained some members since, so I think yes, We do have a strength, and this strength, I believe, will grow with time.

F: Do you like the direction CPP is heading? Any ideas for the future?

A: I certainly do. I think the CPP is utilising it's potential in a great way, which We proved by our success in the congressional elections. Plans for the future? Grow, grow, grow!

TH: Do I like the direction the CPP is headed? Yes I believe I do. However we could always do more. Any ideas for the future? Any leader/future leader must always look to the future or otherwise they are being negligent, however I wouldn't be able to discloses the plans right now as they are currently only half formed. Every leader has to lead by example and if that is taking the step forward for progress/stability then it has to be done. As we say in England, sometimes situations have to be taken by the scruff of the neck, it is the responsibility of the leader to do that.

F: I asked Cesar a question and I will ask both of you the same question: What do you think are the pros and cons of CPP?

A: The obvious pro is Us, the members of the CPP. I think, that We are a great group of people, and although We are all individuals with different views on some things, We create a unified party. I think this stands for all the pros, because the Party is what the members make it to be. The cons... Well, We could always be a bit bigger, however, I think those are minor things.

TH: Pros - Membership, Leadership; Cons - Activity, Membership. Now let me expand on that

F: Sure Tom, go ahead.

TH: Our Leadership has been a pro as unlike previous incarnations of the party it is decentralised and so there is less pressure on more members; Our Activity is a con as it could always improve.
Our Membership is both a blessing and a curse. The membership of the CPP always support each other and help each other however they can. However, it sometimes seem that the membership, and I include all members, are content to allow others to take responsibility for improving the party. This is a habit, flaw that I wish to rid from the CPP.

F: Tom, you said that members of the party tend to let someone else take responsibility, does this mean you have problems inside the party with assigning duties?

TH: Assigning duties is easy, getting members to follow through with said duties is the hard part. I'd like to make clear though that I am not saying that all members let someone else take responsibility all the time.

F: Adasko I have a question for you. Recently you where given the keys to the CPP Newspaper: The Paradoxian Standard. How where you appointed in this position and what are your plans for the future with this newspaper?

A: I was appointed, by Tom, with permission from the members to help the CPP gain more attention in the eMedia. The first article I wrote reached over 40 votes, so I think I can call it a success. What are my further plans? I plan on showing the eRepublikans why the CPP is great, but also inform them about the things We do for eCanada.

F: Being the leaders of a top 5 party the natural world dictates that CPP would want to get power. Maybe the presidency. How do you thing a CPP ruled Canada would look like?

TH: Very much the same as it does now. Although I hope that there would be greater respect for the individual, greater courtesy but i don't believe Canada would change beyond reckoning.

A: I think that eCanada in the big picture wouldn't change as much as We would think, however I think under the CPP the government would be more open to the citizens, without looking at the Party the citizens is in. However... It wouldn't be a revolution, it would be more of a evolution.

F: So in your opinion nothing major needs to be changed in Canada except the way the government treats the citizens. As I understood you would like a country more focused on the citizen.

TH: No, I think that respect is a two way street and unfortunately respect is not given in either direction.

A: I couldn't agree more Tom. Unfortunately, currently the Government and the Citizens don't work together.

F: I understand. How would you improve the image the government has with the general population?

TH: Hopefully opening it up could improve the image. Currently, it is seen as a club for the elite rather than working for the people.

A: Yes, improving government transparency is a very important matter. The citizens fought long for congress transparency, and it worked. Now We should take the next step.

TH: I think there is the danger that we go too far.and maybe full government transparency would be going to far.

A: Tom I am against full goverment transparency but still, I think that more communication is needed.
