The Bulgarian Press Conference. Breakdown and log. [EN|DE]

Day 1,545, 16:18 Published in Germany Germany by KTTRS

In the last days we witnessed a lot of tensions between Bulgaria and Eden in general. Basically it all revolves around Turkey joining EDEN. To join Eden, usually every country needs to be trial member of the alliance to prove its worth etc. Finally to join, the country needs: "Receive unanimous vote from all Members and Founding Members in favour of admission into the Brotherhood." . Compared to countries like Bosnia or Netherlands, Turkey was accepted really quickly into the alliance as trial (which is understandable, considering its military strenght), peace treaties between Turkey, Greece and Bulgaria were agreed on.
The problems arose after an Eden meeting, in which the proposal of Bulgaria, to finally vote about Turkey's status was rejected. As answer to this the Bulgarian MoFA published this article stating that "Bulgaria will be reassessing it's foreign policy and will be putting primary emphasis on the national interest and only then to the alliance interest".
After that of course some ONE countries wanted to use the opportunity and fuel the debate, publishing extremely cheap articles like that, which says: "The way the Bulgarian people are standing up for their principles reminds us of the Bulgaria we once knew and with whom we were in a close friendship."
Seems like the Hungarian officials forgot that Bulgaria actually left Phoenix back then also because of a similar incident. Well if Bulgaria would have been that important to Hungary as they say, it would have been easy for them to save the alleged "close friendship" ; )
The probably worst article about the issue was published from Ostin, suggesting that Bulgaria should join EPICfail, the new puppetalliance of ONE (which has an even worse logo than Terra, wtf 😮)

As reaction to this of course many people were worried about Bulgaria's stance on Eden, and a lot feared that Bulgaria might actually consider changing sides. As a result a of all the arising questions the Bulgarian MoFA announced a press-conference which took place today at 12 ereptime. Personally I thought that this conference was a great idea, Stoich (Bul. MoFA) and tablov (Bul. CP) put a lot effort into it and after a short official statement answered all questions that arose.

Extremely short conclusion:

Bulgaria will remains fully committed to EDEN and neutral to Turkey. There will be another vote in EDEN about the admission of turkey.
Bulgaria will vote against that admission and wants Turkey first to prove itself (firstly e.g. by handing over unneeded Iranian regions).

THE WHOLE MEETING:

If you want to know every detail, I recommend you to continue reading the whole log which I formated and commented below. You can find it under the German version of the text.

Letztendlich muss jedes Land um beitreten zu dürfen: "Receive unanimous vote from all Members and Founding Members in favour of admission into the Brotherhood."
Als Antwort darauf hat der Bulgarische MoFA diesen Artikel herausgegeben in dem steht: "Bulgaria will be reassessing it's foreign policy and will be putting primary emphasis on the national interest and only then to the alliance interest" - dt: "Bulgarien wird seine Aussenpoltik überdenken und nationale Angelegenheit denen der Allianz vorziehen."

Sehr kurze Zusammenfassung:

Bulgarien bleibt Eden komplett verpflichtet and Neutral zur Türkei.

THE WHOLE MEETING | DAS GANZE MEETING

Introduction from Stoich:

Hello ladies and gentleman,
I would like to welcome you, i my capacity as Foreign Minister, to this press conference on behalf of the Bulgarian government.
The topic of this press conference will be the foreign affairs of Bulgaria at this moment as well as addressing a few of the “popular” issues of the last few days.
I’ll begin with a relatively short statement and then there will be a Q&A session held where I’ll attempt to answer all “serious” questions in regards to Bulgaria and it’s foreign affairs.
The questions can be sent to me with a pm, and I’ll go through them on a first come, first serve bases, however official envoys of each country will have precedence. As this is a first, I imagine there will be some snafus, so bare with me.

Statement of Bulgaria:

Bulgaria would like to announce that in accordance with the will of it’s people expressed in a general plebiscite on the application of eTurkey to become a full member of the EDEN alliance of which Bulgaria is a full member of, the president of Bulgaria has deposited an official request to the SC of the alliance for a summit to be held on the issue.
For more information on the request, please refer to appendix “A” in your booklet: http://tinyurl.com/7y4bld3
This will diffuse the current situation and will allow all to return to the more pressing issues on the battlefields. Bulgaria will remain committed to a neutral stands towards Turkey and this is not an aggression towards it, but expressing it’s own position on the question of permanent inclusion to the EDEN alliance and nothing more.
The decision of the Bulgarian players is not RL related (though undoubtedly for some this might well be the case) and it is enough to look back at the long standing relations between Bulgaria and the INCI community in Cyprus, which is predominantly made of Turkish players.
In addition, the Bulgarian government would like to announce that Ukraine has responded positively to a request by the CP of Bulgaria to reopen talks on extending the agreement for the 2 resource regions Bulgaria currently holds. We would like to express our gratitude for that to Ukrainian government and it’s people for this gesture and hope the negotiations will prove fruitful.
Lastly but not least, I would like to announce that Bulgaria has reached a bilateral agreement in principle to govern the immigration between the two countries. In the next few days a formal agreement will be drafted and proposed for ratification to both legislative bodies and steps taken to be implemented.
I would like to finish by stating that Bulgaria remains fully committed to it’s current alliance EDEN and will continue to do so in the future.

Questions and Answers:

irty16: What does eBulgarian government think about ONE's behaviour towards Slovenia?
stoich:It is not the buisness to meddle into the affairs of a foreign alliance what I can reaffirm is that Slovenia in it's dealings with Bulgaria has always been fair and punctual.

stoich got banned from the IRC chan for 30 mins because of flooding (lol? 😁), tablov was answering the questions now.

If EDEN on the following summit accepts Turkey as a full memeber, what will Bulgaria do?
tablov: Bulgaria will leave EDEN if our veto will be not take into consideration

Since BG will have 2 regions from Ukraine, do you still want regions from Iran?
tablov: if we can make agreement with Ukraine we don't need those regions from Iran. it will be notice that the Ukraine's regions are core regions. We appreciate all they make to us and we know that it will not be easy to make a new arrangement every month

will bulgaria stay in eden?
tablov: of course we will stay in EDEN. We are a reliable ally of EDEN's contries

will they sign mpp with turkey
tablov: No we will not. There was a voting yestesrday and our parliament reject it

does eBulgaria has any terms which eTurkey should fullfill so the veto can be removed, and if there are any, what are the terms?
tablov: We want to discuss it only between our countries. If Turkey want to change our possition they should make so that our ppl to beleive them
It looks not like this at the moment

will ebulgaria NE turkey??
tablov: No

Did all the Bulgarian Government agree with staying in EDEN?
tablov: of course we do. We are part of EDEN and it will not change, as long as we have our rights as a part of EDEN

How many percent are for ONE?
tablov: 0%

If Bulgaria left EDEN would they consider joining TERRA?
tablov: We are not planing to leave EDEN

will you publish an official statement about Flausino's unacceptable and untolerable fights against Russia ?
tablov: Of course, not. Our Government could not take response for every single ppl. Russia is our best friend and we will always help them

Is there any hope at this point that Turkey, with more time as a Trial nation and following the appropriate procedures as all Trial nations, could still be admitted into EDEN?
tablov: We think that Turkey have enough time as a trial member. We want to have a decision according their full membership

Will Bulgaria veto Turkey for joining EDEN?
tablov: You should wait until the official summit and you will have the answer

why bulgarians decide their plans according to real problems?
tablov: RL have not to do with our decision. We are not considering Turkey as reliable ally at the moment

stoich comes back after beeing banned for 30 mins

MonsieurGuillontine: Hello, I am Monsieur Guillontine, the Swiss Country President. I have heard some rumors about Bulgaria considering joining EPIC. Is this a legitimate possibility, or will Bulgaria remain a loyal member of EDEN no matter what happens with the application of Turkey?
Stoich: No this rumour has no truth to it. Bulgaria remains committed to EDEN.

Wea: will you make another refferendum ? if yes - when ?
Stoich:If the conditions change that warrant a new referendum and it is requested it can be made. A specific date is hard to put forward at this point, however at least 2 months have to pass since a previous referendum before it can be considered outdated at all.

Zlesti: Is eBulgaria going to join eONE?
Stoich: No Bulgaria will not be joining ONE at this point.

sttr1: Will Turkey be becoing a member of EDEN or not?
Stoich: For the moment, Bulgaria will not vote in favour of Turkey joining EDEN.

ReconWarHawk: Will Bulgaria continue to reject MPPs from Turkey? If so how long can this type of behavior be expected?
Stoich: Curently the majority of players within Bulgaria are against a MPP, weather this will change in the future would be a speculation. It is entirely possible that under a more normal situation in relations that can happen. Time frame will depend entirely on players sentiments.

[WK]pan43: Were there any Bulgarians who wanted One over Eden, and if there were, how many ?
Stoich: There could be, but they would be a small minority, there is no general push to join ONE and leave EDEN, it is rather limited to a few people. The backlash was more against EDEN HQ, then against the alliance as a whole.

sugarfree: If Turkey joins TEDEN, will you stay in the same alliance? Or do you have other plans in the future?
Stoich: TEDEN is a conglomeration of two alliances, Bulgaria has no objections to Turkey joining TERA as it has no right to have any in any case. If Bulgaria’s players decision is not taken into consideration by EDEN, then it will be up to the players to decide weather Bulgaria should take any other steps. At this point that is an unlikely event.

wurstbrot: What does eBulgarian government think about serbia?
Stoich: Serbia is the premier power in the game currently and has been for quite some time now. We respect Serbia both as the #1 country in the game and as an opponent. We understand that in the end this is a game, and strong opponents are as vital as strong allies for it to remain interesting for all.

broa😛 Is there a chance for a war between Bulgaria and Turkey?
Stoich: Currently there is little chance of that. Bulgaria will remain neutral towards Turkey as long as the same is true on their side.

Pero1Q: ebulgaria will stay in eden with its veto on eturkey
Stoich: Yes, Bulgaria intends to remain a part of EDEN and will vote against Turkey’s application to join the alliance at this point.

DavidWilson: Is there any hope at this point that Turkey, with more time as a Trial nation and following the appropriate procedures as all Trial nations, could still be admitted into EDEN?
Stoich: It is no secret that one of the main problems all along has been the manner in which Turkey received preferential treatment in their ambition to join EDEN. It is possible in the future under different circumstance for things to change, at this point however that would be speculation.

kloraq: Why does Bulgaria want regions from Turkey, if they do not consider Turkey as an ally.
Why didn't the MoD of Bulgaria resign or kicked out of Bulgarian government, after he ordered Bulgarian Army to RW the Turkish occupied regions of Iran. Why didn't Bulgaria apologize, after such an act.

Stoich: Bulgaria does not want regions from Turkey, or any other country for the sake of the regions, the only reason Bulgaria seeks regions and bonuses is to augment it’s military power so it contributes more on the battlefield. In this sense it is in everyone’s interest for bulgaria to do so. In this case returning Ukranian region would make Ukraine stronger.
The order was rescinded very shortly after it was given, it was an unfortunate incident but was not a planned one. It was a decision in the heat of the moment, made on the basis of the refusal of EDEN HQ to allow Bulgaria to make it’s voice heard. It was an isolated incident, however history points out to a similar incident by Turkey in the past, when Turkey “needed” bonuses and so they took them from Bulgaria (besarabia) even though the two countries had just recently signed a peace agreement.

FootballCasual: Dont you get the impression that Turkey is the trojan horse in EDEN ?
Stoich: Turkey is not part of EDEN alliance as of yet, I would say such a statement would be exaggerated.

LuisCarrera: If Bulgaria leave Eden for any reason, for example if EDEN does not listen to Bulgaria and gives the membership to Turkey. You would enter in One or Terra? Stoich
Stoich: If that is the case, Bulgaria would consider it’s options, more likely would prefer a new alliance, TERRA would get preference over ONE if choosing between the two most likely.

Mitra33: What ebulgaria will do , if all eden countries sings mpp with turkey ?
Stoich: Bulgaria accepted Turkey as a trial member, and signe a peace with Turkey before that, it has no aggressive ambitions at this point. It’s population however has voted against a permanent membership in EDEN for Turkey, this is the only issues right now

Your presidential term and Congress decided to stay in EDEN. Do you fear that this topic of "To leave EDEN" might pop up again in the next Congressional and Presidential term?

Stoich: The issue with the alliance is only in terms of the ability of Bulgaria to excercise it’s right to vote on the Turkey application, other then that there are not grave differences, thus I do not believe there will be problems in the future.

will you leave EDEN if EDEN countries vote eTurkey for full membership in EDEN When you leave EDEN would you try to join ONE? change sides?
Stoich: EDEN countries cannto vote Turkey for full membership if Bulgaria votes against it, as a unanimous vote is needed. If Turkey becomes member regardles of Bulgarian vote, then it is EDEN that has in essance expelled Bulgaria. Changing sides is not an opiton for us at this point, if forced in such a situation, we would consider all options available to us, which are in the best interest of our players.

If eden choses Turkey instead of Bulgaria, what are your plans? ONE, TERRA, Neutrality?
Stoich: Neutrality is the most probable short term solution, long term it will depend heavily on the situation, if Bulgaria is attacked it will seek the needed measures to protect itself.

JaneAsterix: Whre do u see eBulgaria in stronger ally or respected one?
Stoich: For Bulgaria damage alone has never been the highest value, principles have been very important and though we have payed a price for them, we’ve so far tried to stand by them. I believe this is what we will continue to do in the future. In a game where nothing can be lost or gained other then a little ego and pride, respect is the only valuable “goods”.

vvv: i'm concerned that if we stopped turkey to join eden, other eden countries may withdraw they support for bulgarian battles. what is your view and do you think this is possible although we are member of eden?
Stoich: It is the sincere hope that is not the case, and we believe that the alliance will continue to function as it always has, together.

multiscan_: What are the relationship at the moment between eBulgaria and eCroatia in that situation when we are against that eTurkey to join EDEN ?
Stoich: We do not believe there is a problem between the two countries, not one of grave importance anyway, it is normal to have diference of opinions at times. I do not see a worsening of relations over this issue in any meaningful manner.

Emrace: What was the reason for sending the army to Turkey to fight for Iran? What was the benefit of Bulgaria from this and what was the opinion of EDEN?
Stoich: The reason was a belief that all diplomatic efforts at a solution had been exausted and the initial refusal of EDEN HQ to convene a summit for the vote on Turkey membership to the alliance. The decison was hasty and was rescind quickly thereafter. It is hard to see benfit from this, it was unfortunate and emotional reaction, after all this is a game played by real people, reason has won at the end. EDEN did not approve of this

Va4o: If EDEN comply with the veto. What are the future actions of Bulgaria against Turkey?
Stoich: Bulgaria has no planed future actions against Turkey it will remain neutral towards it’s south-east neighbor.

StiflerAerodrom: Are you considering to make a TW with Macedonia ?
Stoich: It is not something that has been discussed up till this moment. Under certain circumstances that is a possibility that can be considered.

[CRO]GiovanniST: hi! I'm MoFA of eCroatia, and my question is this: BG CP said that Bulgaria will stay neutral towards Turkey and let other EDEN countries to sign MPP with them. Why then Bulgarians were fighting in RW in Iran against Turkey yesterday, while Romania needed every help against Hungary?
Stoich: This was an isolated incident, the main reason for which has been the very heightened and explosive situation internally within Bulgaria. One of the main reasons to seek a quick resolution to this problem and to be able to return as before and be helpful to our allies. Bulgaria has a long track record of helping it’s allies and this was an isolated incident.

IBhoy: [2😇7]: Hi, I am Irish MoFA. My question is: If Turkey were to cede Iranian regions to Bulgaria, would this help with changing Bulgarias mind on the veto?
Stoich: It would not be appropriate for me to speculate on behalf of 3K people, but it will definitely be an argument hard to disregard as it will be a show of support, not only to Bulgaria, but more precisely to Ukraine and EDEN as a whole, by allowing the countries within the alliance to increase their military output.

kakashi_san: Is it possible in near future to see Macedonia and Bulgaria as allies ?
Stoich: If the current status quo of alliances remains, it is unlikely. One thing this game has taught us though is that the wheel is always turning and the only constant is change. I believe that if the game survives long enough sooner or later everyone will have had a chance to work with and against everyone else, because above all this is a social game.

marius16: is BG upset because of resources? Will BG mpp with Turkey in the future?
Stoich: No resources are unrelated issue, Bulgarian people were upset, because it’s decision with a referendum on the acceptance of Turkey into the alliance was being delayed with bureaucratic tactics. Bulgaria will remain neutral and keep diplomatic channels open, it is entirely possible under different circumstances that an MPP could be signed, for the moment though it the answer would be no.

ServerMan: If EDEN accepts Turkey as member without your approval will you, maybe, create a new alliance ?
Stoich: It is a logical scenario to look to create a new alliance, it will however need more then just a switch between Bulgaria and Turkey in EDEN.

TarDi😛 Your opinion about Iran? iran is your friend or your enemy?
Stoich: Iran is part of ONE currently and as such it is our opponent. Otherwise, Bulgaria does remember that at a very tough moment in out eHistory Iran did help us out by giving some of it’s original regions for a long time. If Iran has a stable and predictable government it could hope to repair it’s relations with Bulgaria as once were.

[USA]DavidWilson: What will it take for Turkey to convince the Bulgarian people they are trustworthy to be in EDEN?
Stoich: This is the million dollar question, the beginning would be finding a mutually acceptable solution to the “resource” situation as it would show willingness to contribute without necessarily getting something back in return. It is something that members of EDEN and Bulgaria in particular have done on many occasions in the past so it is essential out of anyone wanting to join the alliance. Second, would be time to let old blood run under the bridge and give a chance to real cooperation in military sense which will demonstrate weather both countries can fight together and for each other. Right now more then defusing the tensions is not a meaningful goal.

Finway: - Do you personally think that a friendship is possible with eTürkiye? You have both wise people who can stand with each other for their common interest.
- What's your position towards your citizens? How do you organize debates?

Stoich: As this is a game, there is no decision that can be wrong or right, wise or not. Each has it’s reprecautions, but non of them more then exchange of pixels or loss of a little pride/ego. We’ve been allies in the past, as well we’re allies with INCI a predominantly Turkish group, so the answer is obviously yes, however the circumstances would need to be different from now.
Our debates are very much of the pure democratic type, with all the good and the bad that comes fro that. Our citizens are right no matter if it is rational or not, the government is only here to express their wishes and not to guide them.

BladeGT: When finally you will tell to Eden that they must choose between Bulgaria and Turkey ?! Bulgarian people said clearly that they don't wants to be re-ally with Turkey !
Stoich: EDEN does not have to make a choice between Bulgaria and Turkey, but only to convene a summit at which the vote on Turkey membership will take place. The SC of EDEN has received an official request and has given assurances this will happen as soon as possible.

TjutgSimzb: You consider Turkey as untrustworthy because some individuals fight against you in Bosnia and Iran which were not backed up by Turkish goverment, while you send your army to Iran with the order of your government. Will you continue to use those events as an argument against Turkey in EDEN?
Stoich: This would be a long argument, as the events you describe are a little back in time, and at the time Lazocrats had positions in Turkish government. The incident of the other day was as stated earlier an isolated incident not in congruence with how Bulgaria does business and regrettable. It was undertaken in a moment in which it was believed that Bulgaria would be denied it;s wright to cast a vote on Turkey membership.

TjutgSimzb: Is it normal for a Bulgarian government official to provoke citizens against a friendly EDEN country?
Stoich: No it is not, however as we all know individuals play this game, so full control is impossible, all countries at one time or another have had players who have gone against the government they’re a part of. In the same way the representative to EDEN boyan has been going against the government but in a different direction, though he has been put forward by the same government.

[WK]Bubo: If you VETO turkey will their MPP with EDEN countries remain? And will they remain in trial and after 3 months join EDEN as a member?
Stoich: Their trial membership would end, however each country is free to sign MPPs with any neutral country or friendly such if they choose. Weather Turkey will reaply for trial status is not my place to speculate.

KoHaH: If you are going to create a new alliance (in some cases)- Why do you think that other countries will leave their current alliances and follow you?
Stoich: Main reason would be that the game is stale as is right now, as well as because Bulgaria is a predictable and loyal partner to it’s allies no matter who they are at the given moment. The current status quo would suggest that the dis-balance cannot continue and there is little chance of rearrangement in which the status would be maintained but adjusted to even out.

Stoich: And on this note I'm concluding this press conference, hope it was interesting despite the epic fail of my ban at the start.
