The Best Newspaper in the eUS

UPDATE: THE QUALIFYING ROUND IS OVER. THE RESULTS ARE COMING SOON!

For a clearer, simpler article about this tournament that clears up some spots of confusion, see this article. Also, LEAVING A COMMENT DOES NOT COUNT AS A VOTE!

THE QUALIFYING ROUND WILL CONTINUE UNTIL 23:59 eRep time on Day 965!

I have wanted to publish an article about newspapers for a long time, but I have been debating over what newspapers should be in the article and how the article should be structured. I have finally decided to go far beyond just an article, after shamelessly borrowing ideas from these three citizens:

Emmanuel Cruise, who ran a Congressional Bracket Tournament that is similar in structure to mine (see below).

Michael Porter, who wrote an article on the newspapers he was subscribed to (including this one), this article got me thinking about writing an article about newspapers.

Joe Newton, whose recent article about The Best eRepublikans gave me the idea of how to start off my tournament.

To put it briefly: I am running a tournament to see what the best newspapers of the eUS are.

Now, I could just go to the rankings page, which is under the info tab at the top of the screen, and select newspapers and then the US. There you can see all of the newspapers in the US, organized
by number of subs. 1st Place is DoD orders. I found out that my paper is 147th in the eUS, with 369 subs (to my surprise, the paper right after mine, with one less sub, is Fionia’s paper.) However, many of the top papers have dead or gone authors (#5, Star and Stripes Journal by Lieutenant Scheisskopf and #7, Gone to Dio by Emerick), and I wanted to see which newspapers have the most influence with their readers. Meaning, which newspapers can get their readers to vote for them in this tournament.

Here is how the tournament will work:
Currently in session is the Qualifying Round. Until 23:59 on Day 965, newspapers who want to participate should encourage their readers to fill out the qualification form (link below) and vote for their newspaper. The top 16 newspapers (meaning whichever newspapers get the most votes) will advance to the elimination rounds. Half of the papers will be eliminated each round until only one remains (more information on how this will happen will be in later articles.)

The Winner of the tournament will receive newspaper bragging rights, along with at least 3 gold (and probably more subscribers.) All participating newspapers have a very good chance of gaining subscribers.

Rules for the Qualifying Roun😛

-A citizen can only vote for three newspapers (filling out three separate forms). Any citizen who fills out more will have all of their votes deleted.
- You CAN vote for your own newspaper. You also can tell your readers to vote for you and even provide the link to the form in your paper. In fact, I highly suggest you do.
- Do not vote for my newspaper (the one you are reading right now.)
-Only Citizen Newspapers. No Orgs.
-Ties will be broken by number of subscribers.
-Have Fun!

So, without further ado…

GOOD LUCK!

Also, I am looking for a sponsor for this tournament. This sponsor’s name (or company/org/party name) and link will be displayed in big letters in the rest of the articles. Please message me if interested, and tell me how much gold you are willing to pay (minimum 2 Gold). All of the sponsor’s gold will go to the winner. The sponsor who offers the most gold by Day 965 will be the only one. UPDATE: The sponsor has been chosen. Thanks to all those who offered to sponsor.
