The Art of War (III)

Day 1,320, 21:43 Published in USA Ireland by Flying Trotsky

Perhaps the only way that the eUS is going to win the war is by losing it.

Perhaps.

True or not, it sounds poetic.
My articles might not have nationalist photos of Colbert Report-esque proportions, but if nothing else, I've got poetics.

Well, that and Sun Tzu.
Which brings us to the subject of this article.

Comrades, there's an old saying attributed to Sun Tzu. It's supposed to be his rule above all other rules for strategy- his ultimate equation for warfare.

It goes: The purpose of war is peace.

Now that, comrades, is poetic.
I was hoping to use it in an article to be published when we retake the last occupied state. But sadly, I feel that it needs to be addressed now.

Our president, in a recent address to us, finished his speech with a call to war. "Let us take the fight to their lands.", he said.

See comrades, I'm not cool with that.
Don't get me wrong- I'm all for taking back our homelands; let's not rest until we've done so. But invading our invaders? I'm not gonna go along with that.

It's not that I have any love for the Spanish, Hungarian, Polish, and Indonesian empires. I want to see them crumble as much as anyone else. But comrades, I don't want to invade Spain (or the other nations) anymore than I want to be invaded by them.

For comrades, there are no successful occupations, only long ones.

Again, poetic right?

See comrades, it goes like this: you can't hold a country down if the people aren't willing. No matter how many times the US gets invaded, we'll just rebel. It could happen once, it could happen a hundred times- we'll just fight back. In fact, Glove alludes to this sentiment in his article. And it's not just true of the eUS, comrades- it's true of every nation. The question is not will the invaders be repelled, but when.

When we throw off the yoke of the oppressors, what are we going to do? Invade them? Then the situation will just be inverted, and the question will be "how long before we are sent packing?". And they'll take retribution by invading us, and we'll fight back, and so on.

That's something else Glove mentions in his article. "Vendetta".
He uses the word "vendetta".

Now that might mean something else to you, but to mean, it conjures up the image of a pair of families who've been beating the crap out of each other since time immemorial, with no end in sight. The Hatfeilds and the McCoys. The Capulets and Montagues.

Comrades, I want no part in this.

Sure, there's the urge to punish our invaders- to make 'em feel what it's like to be overrun. But comrades, remember, the purpose of war is not revenge. The purpose of war is peace.

I'm fighting in this war so I can live freely, not so that I can take freedom from others. I'm fighting to resist empire- not to endorse it.

In fighting monsters, be careful not become a monster yourself.

Another poetic line. Seems like a good note to end on.
