The 'X' Factor

Day 1,558, 06:34 Published in United Kingdom United Kingdom by Elle Roslin

So it is no big secret that the UK will not be getting Congress again this month. Rather than going over the laundry list of derp that I am sure everyone is sick and tired about hearing, I want to focus on one thing.

That thing is.....LEADERSHIP

Over the last few weeks I have witnessed what can only be described as utter apathy. What we needed this month was organization, inspiration, and collaboration. It's a pretty sad state of affairs when our own deputy CP fled to Sweden before Congress elections are even over. Two nights ago I asked in the official military channel where I could direct 3 million + damage, and was told to use it somewhere else, as there was 'no hope' that we could ever keep a singular UK region. No support was offered, and the military channel was effectively dead, so instead 4-5 Legion members went to assist Indonesia so that our damage would actually do something constructive.

I JUST CAN'T TAKE IT ANYMORE

So what is wrong with the UK?

1. We have a government that is either inactive or distracted by their own pet projects (If I read IMPERIUM one more time i will barf)
2. We lack any real sense of cohesion
3. The mood is one of apathy and defeat

If you have read previous articles/comments by me, you will know that I am an advocate of suggesting fixes, rather than simply complaining.

So here is what I suggest:

1. If you are thinking of running for CP, do not do so unless you are certain that you can provide the appropriate activity level
2. Foster greater support between the various MU's
3. SPEND MONEY. Why do we have over 1 million GBP locked away? For a rainy day? How could things get much worse?
4. If we can't win them all, focus on winning some of them. This is directed at ONE in addition to the UK. Rather than scattering our damage across dozens of battles, pick a few and focus there. Better for 1-2 countries to have a Congress than none.
5. Volunteer - if you are active, capable, and friendly, then do something for the UK!
6. Leaving doesn't help us (unless it is to support weapons production for our own troops)

What am I doing to help out?

1. I pay 10,000 GBP plus out of my own finances daily to support the growth of Legion members (and Legion functions much the same as the UK Army used to)
2. I am trying to foster better cross-party relationships with people in other parties
3. Through #eso, we are organizing our own strikes that are open to any and all UK citizens. Supplying is provided by volunteers, like the lovely Apronchef

We can all help in our own little ways. So let's drop the attitude of despair, and work together to do something useful.
So if there is ever anything I can do to help someone implement a new UK initiative, or if there is a government agency that needs my help, I am offering it freely.

If you are new and have questions, contact me and I will help you as best as I can. If you are free at night, and have damage to spare, come by #eso and help us do some damage.

Most of all, stay positive and optimistic - this is a game and it should be fun!

See you on the battlefield!

Roz

To all the Irish trolls who are without a doubt going to comment here - take a hike. I've read your so-called suggestions for 'fixing' the UK's current situation. The only advice you can give us is to wait it out, as you did when TERRA/EDEN were getting consistently wiped for months on end, or to hand over leadership of our country to a foreign group (TOO BAD WE CAN'T GIVE CITIZENSHIP TO CROATIANS RIGHT NOW). I have zero bias against the Irish - I'm Canadian in RL and I am friendly with several e-Irish (shout out to John Gormley and Brent Wyrick!) - just drop the crap, it's boring.

An Irish man I can support! 😃
