Thanks Guardians! You rule! A fond farewell to Bulgaria

Day 1,584, 14:19 Published in Croatia Croatia by Arrlo

Hello! I have to delve quite deeply into history to set the scene for this article. Please bear with me or gtfo.

Going back to the early days of the (post-Panam) Terra alliance, it seemed inevitable that Terra and EDEN would merge. There was some disagreement between the HQs and CPs about what the enlarged alliance would be called. At the time, I was totally baffled by EDEN HQ's stubborn refusal to budge an inch on the issue of naming of the alliance. They were adamant that the alliance would have to remain EDEN, and that was that. Blockheads! Mules! You will be ruined by ONE if you don't cooperate!

Well it turns out that the two alliances work very well together for the most part, but now I understand! For the EDEN players who remember, the alliance has been there since the beginning. Terra and ONE are babies - the others I won't apologise for being rude enough to ignore - while EDEN has constantly been around. Does that make it the best? No. But no other alliance has lasted even close to the same length of time, and that means something.

Calm down, dear

CHILLAX everyone, this isn't propaganda. Bulgaria has gone and that's that. I'm just explaining why I see EDEN as something worth fighting for, and that is why I wanted to help it and Bulgaria recently.

So when I saw the problems caused by negotiations with Turkey, and how isolated Bulgaria was becoming, I wanted to go there personally. Didn't seem any point sitting and poking my nose in from another country. I wanted to poke my nose in properly! I wanted to talk to Bulgarians myself, find out what they wanted, and find out if it would be possible to keep them in EDEN. I like making friends from different countries in eRep, so I didn't think twice about taking the chance to meet some new people.

I'm so glad that I did.

Some seriously cool avatars for some seriously cool people

So when I moved, I applied to change my citizenship and quietly waited. I spoke to someone on IRC who said he might be able to help me, and I took great pains to make it clear that I was pro-EDEN. I promised not to vote or even join a party, and I didn't join the forum. I was luckily accepted quite soon, and I joined the Guardians on the advice of my friend hanibalbg. Very quickly I joined their group conversation and skype, and I loved it. I really loved it. Everyone there made the effort to speak to me in English, since I'm a moron and don't know any Bulgarian. Everyone was fun, welcoming and keen to help me. I can't sing the Guardians' praises highly enough!

From my short time there it fast became clear that something would have to give. I think that once the initial damage was done, and mistakes were made on both sides, there probably was no way that Bulgaria could remain in EDEN. Some people on EDEN's side made some bad judgement calls, and these were pounced upon by a mob of obnoxious Bulgarian trolls.

And then it was all over. I'm not calling anyone traitors, and I'm not angry at anyone, but my place was obviously no longer in Bulgaria. I don't care about fighting Turkey, and I certainly don't want to help ONE, so I left. That's the only reason I left so soon after arriving, and I know I would have really enjoyed spending more time in your community.

Though I sent a parting message to the 2 leaders of the clan, I left the Guardians without any farewell to the members. So here it is.

In my PM to nikitaK, I said I thought highly of all the Guardians I met, and because of you all I have no bitter feelings at all, and will have fond memories of eBulgaria in EDEN. What's more, you taught me a little about real life Bulgaria, and you're a credit to your RL country. Especially this guy.

Beautiful Bulgaria!

I'll be back soon I hope, and not as an enemy.
