Tendency Towards Duopoly: Revisited

Day 375, 13:30 Published in USA USA by Lowell Kennedy

Four months ago, I wrote an article examining the state of political parties in the United States. It was apparent that the Libertarians and the United States Workers Party were growing at rates that were substantial greater than other political parties. I wondered whether it was a Tendency towards Duopoly. With the time that has passed, there have been many changes politically. Yet, my belief in this tendency persists but with less significance. The original post is linked above and I will revise the original article hereafter to reflect today’s political climate.

Again, we are in a period of substantial population growth, just like the Beta period of the original article. We are also in a period of political realignment. One wonders of the effects of population on politics and vice versa. To put the political outcome of the population boom of the eUSA into perspective, time needs to pass and we must be reminded that we are merely speculating in the midst of the population growth. We can and will review the past four months and again speculate base upon the recent trends. In the original article, only the five congressional political parties were examined. In this article, I will discuss all American political parties. I will discuss the original five and proceed to the rest of the parties.

The Libertarians
The Libertarians were the largest American party. They were the 5th largest in the world with 464 members. They are still the 5th largest in the world but are now the second largest party behind the USWP. It has seen an almost 200 member increase in the four months. They now have 645 members, which is more than double the third largest American party.

USWP
The USWP was the second largest American party and eighth overall in the world. It had seen a dramatic increase in party members at the time of the original writing. It had 375 members, which was a 258 member increase over the previous month. Such an increase foreshadowed the coming months. Now, it is the country’s largest party, third largest in the world and closing on second. It has over doubled its membership in four months to 804 members.

GameFAQs/UCP
The party formerly known as GameFAQs had 206 members. Now known as the United Constitutionalist Party, it has 208 members. They were the third largest, now they are the fourth largest American party.

eRepublikans For Change/eRepublicans For Change
The eRepublicans For Change have switched a letter in their name and increased their membership from 177 to 293. They are now solidly the third largest party in the country. They have significant gap between themselves and UCP and an even greater gap with the Lib’s.

Democratic Party
The Democrats’ membership peaked several months ago. They had 139 members, now they have 111 members. They have slipped to the sixth largest party.

This leads to the most significant development over the time from the original post—the emergence of the America’s Advancement Party (AAP) as the fifth largest party in America replacing the Democrats. They will lead off the list of the rest of the parties.

America’s Advancement Party
AAP has been in the top five for sometime but emerged after the original article was written. They complete the total reorder of the original top five with today’s top five. They currently have 179 members. They have an approximately 70 member cushion for the coveted fifth spot.

The Illuminati
The party formerly led by Platonic currently has 53 members.
Federalist Party
The Federalists currently have 39 members.
America First Party
This party currently has 36 members.
US Green Party
The Greens, led by Peter Green, have undergone steady growth to 35 members.
Yellow Party
The Yellows, led by myself, are among the fastest-growing American parties. Membership has over tripled in the last two weeks to 30 members.
The Boston Tea Party
This party currently has 21 members.
No hablo ingles
This party currently has 19 members.
Nationalist Party
The Nationalists were known as RAMROD in their first days of existence. They are the newest and the fastest-growing of the American political parties. They currently have 19 members, including President Benn Dover.
Brotherhood Without Banners
This party currently has 18 members.
Anarchy
This party currently has 15 members.
Project:JENOVA
The party has stagnated at 12 memberships after leadership was banned.
Apathetic Cynics United
This party currently has 12 members.
RI Nation
This party currently has 10 members.
American Freedom Party
This party currently has 9 members.
New Day Co-Op
This party currently has 8 members.

The top two parties have a combined total of 1449 members. The other nineteen American parties total 1127 members, which is substantial tilted to the three parties in the top five. Using this information and the conclusions drawn in August, there is a tendency towards duopoly in eAmerican politics reflecting, perhaps, real life. However, unlike August, the fasting growing parties (percentage-wise) are the Nationalist Party, the Yellow Party, and the US Green Party, or three smaller parties. In August, the USWP and Libertarians were the fastest growing parties. With these growth trends, we might see a paradigm shift in our politics. It is too early for such a prognostication though.
