What?
So what is Teknokratprisene? Well, you know the Nobel prizes? This is just like that, just a little more prestigious.

Teknokratprisene is awarded twice yearly, on January 10, and a future date that we have yet to set. There are three categories, where one gets a (very) small amount of gold and a nice statue with the name of the user engraved onto it. Those three categories are Æresteknokraten, Årets Teknokrat and Årets Nykommer.

Årets Nykommer
This award is handed out to a Teknokrat that joined the party in the past year, in this event, 2009. He or she must have shown great will to improve and maintain both eNorway and Teknokratenes status in the country. It is not necessary for this user to have any vital positions or seats in government or any other part of the game, as long as the candidate has shown that he or she will do a lot for the country and the party.

Årets Teknokrat
This award is handed out to a Teknokrat that has shown remarkable work throughout 2009, and that has been a member for the whole year. He/she has shown great spirit while working with Teknokratene, and has done a lot for the party and eNorway. This award is only handed out to a member of the party.

Æresteknokrat
This is the most prestigious award of them all, and it even comes with a moderate price of five gold and a nice trophy with the user’s name engraved on it. He/she does not have to be a member of Teknokratene, nor is it necessary that he/she ever has been, but it sure helps. This person has shown that he or she really will go that far for eNorway, or TeK.

How to vote?
Teknokratprisene’s voting period lasts from January 5 – January 10, and is open to anyone that registers on the TeK forums at http://tek.stassi.net. After signing up, you can find all the voting threads in the open Teknokratene part of the forum, right here.

There is one topic for all the categories, and it’s all in Norwegian. There is a poll in each category, but be careful with who you vote for, as you can’t undo it once you’ve done it.

But, why?
Teknokratprisene is really a way for us TeKs to show appreciation towards our fellow party members, and a way of showing our gratitude to their hard work. While it’s not really a big prize, it’s something that shows how much you mean to some, and a title to wear proudly. We focus a lot on the social part of the game, and for some of us, that’s the single most important part of eRepublik, and this is just another way for us to bring the community together.
