Supreme Court of eCanada - February 16 update

Day 1,184, 18:42 Published in Canada Canada by olivermellors

On Sunday the Court released its decision on the constitutional controversy. The Court remains enshrined in the constitution, the amendment having failed. The Speaker was asked to update the Law Repository by returning the constitution to its correct form and deleting the Supreme Court of Canada Act which was declared void. We look forward to the Speaker doing so. Understandably, he is pressed with much business.

The Court is deciding whether to proceed with a matter pursuant to the Funding Cap Act. Lavis Knight will prosecute . Ryan Jackson and Goran Thrax will be appearing for the defence. This promises to be instructive. Policy wonks should be getting the popcorn ready and maybe a bit of valium. Likely matters of discussion will include:

1. What does “budget” mean?
2. What counts as a presidential “order” and a presidential “authorization”
3. What the heck was Jacobi thinking? (okay that one isn’t serious)

It is a bit surprising that the government has not yet named anyone to speak for it.

A player admitted breaching eCanada’s security measures. We have to decide what to do about it. Neither the prosecutor nor the defence seem ready to help the Court or themselves to come up with something fair and appropriate. They seem bereft of ideas, inventiveness or creativity. If you want to “geek out”, you could do worse than giving one of the players some helpful ideas and advice. The alternative, always popular in eCanada, is to wait until the Court decides and then just complain in a loud voice, insisting that the correct result should have been obvious to any sane mammal.

What to do about Rolo’s trial is under active discussion. We will likely have something to announce on the litany of Pimp requests.
