Current matters

On Friday feb 11, a player expressed interest in pursuing a matter, previously begun by another, involving alleged violations of the funding cap for CAF personnel. The player was asked to answer some questions in order for the court to determine if it should take the matter up for trial. No response has been received within the 48 hour deadline. The Court will accept a response until it decides whether to accept the case. The Court expects to begin its deliberations very shortly.

On February 1st, a player lodged a complaint against the Director of CSIS. The Court has now asked the player if, in view of the material filed, he wishes the Court to consider taking the matter or whether he wishes to withdraw the complaint. The Court awaits a response and in the absence of a response will begin deliberation mid-week.

The Court has accepted a plea of guilt in a proceeding begun by CSIS involving a former member of that organization. We are now considering what to do about it.

On the horizon

It is expected that the Court will begin deliberating about how to proceed in relation to any unfinished business. This may include the Rolo and Pimp matters. Details will be released when appropriate.

It may also be beneficial for the Court to issue helpful directions for practice: how to start a case, the phases of a case, how to provide evidence and what counts as evidence, how a case gets decided etc. We will be considering such “practice directions” and will advise when appropriate including any call for public input.
