Strength Training Versus Weapons in the UK Military
Polio
Since the introduction of increased strength gains for gold, about 3 weeks ago, there has been a lot of debate, both on a political level and a military level, regarding whether or not it is more effective to buy weapons or strength. Some people are adamant that buying strength is the way to go, others are sure buying weapons makes more sense whilst many don't have a clue what to think.
This article will, briefly, analyse which appears to be more efficient with regards to the UK's military (although it will be relevant to other countries, knowledge of their military setup is somewhat lacking so assumptions will not be made on their behalf).
The benefit of funding a Field Marshal to increase their strength shall be compared to spending that gold on weapons for a group of people.
Take any Field Marshal. Their current strength is irrelevant as only the increased damage from training is important. 1.8 gold can be used to increase strength by 0.08 per day (0.12 gained opposed to 0.04). In the majority of battles, the Special Forces fight with Q3 weapons, as such they shall be used in the calculation. It shall be assumed that all fights are done at 100 wellness, for simplicity. These values are then plugged into the damage formula:
D = Q × R × S × W × 2
= 1.6 × 2.6 × 0.08 × 1.75 × 2
= 1.1648
So, spending 1.8 gold provides an extra 1.1648 damage per fight (with a Q3 weapon).
Now, assume Q1 weapons cost 0.1 gold. It can be seen that 1.8 gold can provide 18 Q1s. A quick glance at the Royal Navy's members shows the average strength level to be around 7-9. The value of 7 shall be used in this calculation, along with the rank of Captain.
So, take any 18 strength 7 captains. Without any weapons, their damage for 1 fight would be:
D = Q × R × S × W × 2
= 0.5 × 2 × (7 × 1😎
× 1.75 × 2
= 441
With Q1 weapons:
D = Q × R × S × W × 2
= 1.2 × 2 × (7 × 1😎
× 1.75 × 2
= 1058.4
As can be seen, the difference in these damages is 617.4. Quite a difference to the extra 1.1648 damage that the Field Marshal does. However, once the captains do their damage, it's done and does not affect the future (aside from ranking up faster, but that's negligible). The Field Marshal's extra damage is for every single future fight.
It is rare that the UK military does any tanking so it shall be assumed that the Field Marshal fights 5 times per day (as previously mentioned, all fights are calculated at 100 wellness for simplicity). This equate to an extra 5.824 damage done every single day. Doing the simple sum of 617.4/5.824, it can be seen that it takes the Field Marshal 106 days until he has done as much damage as the captains did. From every day there after, however, the Field Marshal will continue to do more damage.
Now, funding training every day will be compared to funding a Q1 weapon for 18 people every day. The results of the first day are above, 5.824 versus 617.4.
On the second day, the damage done by the FM will be increased from the previous day's training as well as the current days. As such, 11.648 extra damage will be done. Assume each of the captains train for free, increasing their strength by 0.04. This will provide a small amount of extra damage also.
D = Q × R × S × W × 2
= (1.2 - 0.5) × 2 × (0.04 × 1😎
× 1.75 × 2
= 3.528
Thus, each day, the captains do an extra 3.528 damage. This means on the second day, they do 620.928 damage.
The same applies for the third day, and so on. By day 267, the FM is doing an extra 1555.01 damage per day. On that day, the captains will do an extra 1555.85 damage using Q1s over unarmed fighting. Thus, it takes 267 days for the damage done by the FM to be equivalent to the damage done by the captains.
However, it must be remembered that for every previous day, the FM has done less damage. Up to and including day 267, the FM will have done 208371.07 extra damage. The captains will have done 290128.61 extra damage. The point when the FM's total extra damage done is more than the captains is double 267: day 534. By then, the FM has done 831929.28 extra damage and the captains 831764.81. From that point on, the FM's cumulative damage will continue to grow much larger than that of the captains.
So, UK, the question stands: do you want to wait 534 days to see a gain?

Polo, you could totally move to America you know. Get off the fail island.
Hey don't call us the fail island!
Yeah, LOSER!
Math is hard
There is alot of poor maths here.
For one, every navy boy gets 5 q1 weapons per day, (if they are active) anyway. There is no question of this stopping.
And supertraining anyone that isn't a long term player for UK, (para) is pretty risky at best.
The Navy doesn't supply 5 Q1 weapons every day.
Well I must be special, because htey did for me
This article misses the point that the captains would rank up more quickly with the weapons, achieving higher ranks more quickly and doing increased damage as a result.
You don't get 5 weapons everyday...
get it right! there are never Q1's for everyone - we don't produce enough!
I would gladly stop taking any weapons for 1.8gold a day and as long as i can afford Q1 food!
Unless i am wanted in a perticular battle as well!
We get 3 Q1's during battles deemed strategically important. That equates to maybe 4 or 5 battles in a quiet month. That means we get 12 or 15 Q1 guns in total over a 4 week period.
The only time we get a full supply of 5 Q1's is when we are present on the Navy IRC channel in preparation for a coordinated strike.
So everyone that has done an article in this format shows that spending gold on training is a long term investment.
Para's also have a terrible player retention rate to be honest Tom, people get bored late in the game. Training grounds isn't going to stop that. The only people that benefit from this are extremely likely to drift away from the game eventually once they have done all that can be done.
The navy doesn't have the internal economy to produce 5 Q1s a day for everyone, and if it did, it would still be more valuable than spending gold on strength training, that goes double for the government. Our pool of money is not infinite.
Please cite the poor maths above. As a rough estimate it works fine. The principle is the important part.
I think this article is pointing out that it isn't worth the investment.
If you have to wait ~500 days for any real return, whilst over those 500 days the Captains will be ranking up as well, it really doesnt seem worth it.
We should focus on funding weapons for people, rather than strenght training, it is definately better for our country.
If tanks want to self fund their strenght, that's fine by me 🙂
rzrseb17: If the investment was 2 months rather than 2 years then it might be worthwhile, but only a handful of players will stick around that long, it also does not benefit the current administration in the slightest to make a 2 year investment; that's like asking the current government to dump the entire treasury into looking at eco-fuels for the future. An admirable idea but we have better things to spend it on that can be effective now.
Like I said, ACTIVE paras get 5 q3 /q1 every day.
Active navy guys get 5 q1s everyday
These are the only people that would be eligible for strength training anyway.
When I was navy, I made 7 q1s per day, and recieved 5. And don't try and say that I didn't.
@Sidekick Investments: I am fully aware that the captains would rank up slightly faster but the difference it actually makes is not very significant, especially when there are so many other variables involved.
@rzrseb17: I was merely stating how long it would take to prove effective. Too long, imo.
@Tomazim: You do not produced 7 Q1s per day, even at your current skill (which would, obviously, have been less in the past). At the moment, you make about 5.5 guns per day. You also need to factor in the iron used though. Even the active navy guys do not get 5 Q1s everyday.
No, active navy guys DO NOT get 5 Q1s everyday, I'm more active than most and I haven't received guns since last deployment about 2 or 3 days ago. I can't speak for the paras.
1.8g per day per active military member is in no way sustainable for the treasury.
Afer 534 days all the captains would be FMs by then and their collective strength increase would be 0.72 per day since there are 18 of them. Even with the 1.8G the FM will only get 0.12 more strength a day thus the 18 FMs would start gaining back on the one FM when the FM's reach FM level(weapons would help them level up massivly). Therefore i think its better to try to get people to FM level using weapons than training up FMs to more strength.
I'm glad someone has written an article on this. Extremely informative 🙂
first.
