Strategic Defiance - A Jolly Good Time!

Day 2,282, 10:28 Published in Canada Canada by Xander Kross

War is a science.

Let me be more precise - war is the direct application of scientific disciplines, applied in a very precise, measured and specific way to cause a desired effect. Usually - but not always - this desired effect is victory.

There are very fun sciences at play in war. For example, physics and biology are used to determine the size, shape and weight of permissible ammunition. Certain bullets are not allowed for use in war because they impact living tissue a specific way which causes "unnecessary suffering." This is why we use full metal jacket rounds instead of softer lead or other materials.

Today, however, we will focus on a very different science: psychology. Also economics, but that's less interesting.

Psychology is an important aspect of warfare. Discouraged soldiers fight less efficiently than happy soldiers, and are more likely to rout in the face of adversity.

Currenly, eCanada is occupied by two very strong enemies, and this is, of course, discouraging. Our long-term prospects are not as grim as they might seem, but it can be difficult to keep hope alive while our oppressors have their boots on our throats. But steel your hearts, comrades! All is not so bleak, and we may use psychology against our hated foes!

I propose a long-tail gambit: engaging in daily resistance wars against the occupiers, not with the intention of winning directly, but to distract the enemy and drain their resources.

Consider it as a training war - we fight against the enemy daily, but we do not throw our expensive weapons and other costly supplies at them. We gain combat experience using only our fists (saving our tanks and big guns for later), they use up their bazookas and bombs to "keep us in line." We save our weapons for the big battles later, when Asteria comes a-marching in, and do our Daily Orders only so that we stockpile bazookas and energy bars, but the over-confident occupiers treat each guerilla battle as a real and proper threat, and use their war resources to put them down. They hold the land, but the price proves to be very high for them because these skirmishes happen every day. Since we are using fists only, and not intending to win, we use only enough food to help complete the daily orders.

Meanwhile, their lands are being slowly whittled away overseas. This is the case with eSpain, at the very least, and eUSA has been kicked out of Europe and Asia as well.

Over time, the cumulative effect will be that eCanada proves far too costly and hostile for these tyrants to keep under their jackboots. They will need to move away to focus on bigger battles elsewhere, or risk the constant resource drain of our resistance.
