Dear friends,
During the last three months we, the students from Psychology Department in Nikšić, which is the only Department of Psychology in Montenegro, have been fighting for our basic rights.
The students of psychology in Montenegro are facing insurmountable problems: irregular lectures, absence and departure of certain professors, no laboratories or adequate equipment at our Faculty that can be used for exercises or research,impossibility to take exams,and briefly the semester itself was endangered. Taking into consideration all these problems and in order to solve them we the students, in coordination with our Departement Head prof Milorad Simunović, PhD,have taken things in our own hands. Unfortunately, it seems that in asking for our basic rights to study, we have been asking for too much.
After all our attempts to solve the situation through the usual administrative channels, explaining our situation to the administration of the University, indignant and dissatisfied with the lack of understanding and ignored by those whose duty solve our problems, we decided to boycott the lectures. We have spent three days and two nights in classrooms in order to become “more visible” as a group and to call the public attention to our untenable situation, hoping that we were sending a serious message to the higher institutions, especially to the rector of the University of Montenegro – Prof. PredragMiranović, PhD. He gave a written guarantee to meet our requests and promised to seriously work on solving our problem. Unfortunately, all this was false hope since he neither contacted us nor informed us about how he was proceeding with solving our problems. Meanwhile, professor Simunović got in touch with our professors and managed to engage new professionals to teach at our department, but the rector failed to do his duty in supporting this effort.
We started another, even more radical protest and boycott of teaching. We have blocked the Faculty for two hours by making loud noise in the hallways. All the lectures had to be stopped because of this. The following day we boycotted not only ours, but also the teaching of other departments. As a result of this more radical protest, a concrete solution to the problem was found – we got professors for the subjects that had not been taught before, students were allowed to take exams, the 4th-year students were given topics for their theses and the term was prolonged up to July 13th in order to make up lost time.
However, they suggested suspending enrolment in the Department of Psychology for the future academic years.
Considering this, we have lost patience with our discontent reaching a climax and we are asking for your support.In order to get more organized and vocal, we are about to found the Association of Students of Psychology by the end of June 2013.
After the end of the term, students will keep on fighting for their department, higher standards of studying - hence for PSYCHOLOGY in Montenegro!
Therefore, we kindly ask you to join our petition effort in promoting and signing it, because we want authorities to be aware of importance of this science. With a petition, we just might create enough international pressure and profile to motivate our institutions at the university and in the government to solve our problems, LET’S KEEP PSYCHOLOGY IN MONTENEGRO!

Potpuno se slažem sa tim da ne bude upisa brucoša na Psihologiji.Nemaju se đe zaposlit kad završe, pa što bi studirali?
Neka nađu neki drugi studijski program koji ima perspektivu i budućnost, a ne upisivat fakultet reda radi.
Koji to ima perspektivu?
Pa i to što kažeš, ali sam siguran da je ovaj na samom dnu ljestvice.
A otkud, koliko je samo vjetackih fakulteta (citaj kurseva) koji su otvoreni samo da se pare uzimaju. Psihologija je vrlo vazna, treba smanjiti broj studenata ali niposto ukidati. Ukinu ih, i onda tako prodje vrijeme, i nestane kadra, i opet na precac da se otvori i masovna proizvodnja. Ne valja. Treba malo da misle nasi vlastodrsci, ali cini mi se da nijesu sposobni.
