Standing Tall

Day 798, 20:20 Published in Belgium Belgium by Aldous Zamiatin
Dear Belgian people,

I'm aware of the fact that you are a very heterogeneous group at the moment, and at some level it's a fact worth applauding - many different cultures and backgrounds could make this country a very interesting place and would certainly colour our dull and grey neutrality. On political level this diversity will probably have a less beneficial influence, but I hope that all parties that succeded to get their candidates elected will manage to steer this country straight while pulling in different directions, and that they may learn to get along for the greater benefit of our small nation. At this point I would like to congratulate my opponents in the race, and offer a hand as a sign of friendship to those who are prepared to work with us on a better future for eBelgium. I would also like to thank my comrades at the NDF, who did what they could the only way they could - by staying true to themselves and to our shared ideal of a prosperous and free eBelgium. Your support means a great deal to me.

But I would especially like to address this short message to those seven kind people who entrusted me with their vote, and whoom I might have let down in these elections. Each one of you should know that your vote wasn't lost - running in the elections might seem great fun, but it also means grave responsability, which one is prepared to take when he or she applies for the elections. A was very aware of this, and I will continue to do my utmost best to bring our dream of a truely independent, democratic and neutral eBelgium closer to reality. This month will be one of fresh opportunities and new possibilities, and I will dedicate myself to our nation, but more particularly to you, my dear voters. I thank you for your trust in me and I hope I will live up to your expectations.

Best regards,

Aldous
