Spring Cleaning

Day 847, 15:15 Published in Canada Canada by Bruck

After a long winter spring has sprung for the Canadian Empire Party. Returning home I realize the place is a bit of a mess. Sure, it’s not so bad, the plumbing still works and an effort was made to put things back where they belong but of all things, no one remembered to take out the trash! And I tell you, it’s starting to pile up. So I roll up my sleeves and get down to some spring cleaning in the CEP. First on my to do list…

Octavian_F

Long as the CEP tried to rid itself of the damaging image of Octavian. Although he found an audience and some following in the early CEP, and was the main factor in it’s refounding, his policies and his inability to just let something go has caused the CEP to appear as if linked to him forever. As such, the most common response I receive when inviting an old friend of mine or a CEP member from the original party, or heck, even someone entirely new who has only been around long enough to remember an election two months ago says that they “will never join the CEP while Octavian is a member.” Now coming from the position of a Party President trying to get his party into the top 5 status in a short amount of time, this sort of statement is a problem. But even in the most recent PP elections, where the one time I even suggested Octavian in an article, which was in fact in a negative light, the comments read as if we were one in the same! What nonsense! It’s ignorance is what it is, but I cannot really blame those who thought that way. Words are so hollow, especially when coming from a politician. All one can trust are actions and so that is why I am announcing that Octavian_F, you are hereby banned from participating in CEP forum discussions and shall not represent the Canadian Empire Party in word or action again.

And with the basement done I decided to take the garage next. To my surprise I found it filled with something that just didn’t belong. “Whatever it is,” I said aloud, “It has to go.” and with my sleeves still rolled up I forced them up uncomfortably higher still.

Craig Norman

“Craig Norman…I just don’t know what to make of that guy.” or “Just what is he doing in the Canadian Empire Party?” are both very common messages I received these last few days, and again last term when he challenges Kilgore Trout for this party’s top job. In public he acts the cooperative liberal who wants to bring change to the CEP (which had been a very popular move with the leaders of some parties, especially when the alternative was Octavian_F). However, on the party forums (when he occasionally makes an appearance) he acts as if his own policies could not be further from the cooperative selfless liberal he appears in public. So what is he playing at? All term he’s quiet, then Kilgore and Octavian present platforms for PP elections, which he cuts down publicly, and then announces he will be running for leadership of the CEP. I’m afraid this uncooperative, scheming attitude combined with his near constant attempts to divide the party are just not something we at the CEP need at this time. We need team players not someone who is looking out for number one. But, Craig beat me to the punch and has already abandoned the CEP. This is fine, your campaign was well run and I respect that but that is the end of your involvement in the CEP.

And of course I must address the timing of this. While I am the ROOT admin on the CEP forums and could have removed either of these two at any time I had no intentions of forcing Kilgore’s hand or in tarnishing his reputation. Besides, I wanted a degree of legitimacy to my actions, and I think 86% support is pretty encouraging stuff.

And so, by now I assume I have at the very least two rather upset readers, and perhaps more (of which one or two might even be from the CEP!) so please allow me to explain myself. I feel this hiccup in democracy is a necessary evil for the stability of the CEP and will finally allow us to move forward. We will shake off the past and look forward to a clear future all at once. From this point forward the Canadian Empire Party will remain a democratic party and starting tomorrow every member, new and old, will have a chance to contribute to our party platform in time for Congress elections on the 25th of March.

Let me also say that if you were considering a change of party before I believe a couple of positions just opened up. 😉

You know where to find me
