Sports in eRepublik? It's possible!

Most people think eRep is just about politics, war and managing your land. But you're able to create much more!

With "sports in eRepublik", I don't mean things like this newspaper, but sports you can participate in on eRepublik itself. Some still don't have discovered it, but there are eRep forums where's a lot of stuff going on.

There is a place on the forum for sports/music/...: in Belgium it's called "the ministry of FUN". Here you can easily create sports competition.

But how to do it? Well, I discovered some methods on how to simulate real competitions. An overview:

- Sports by math (f.e. "Belgian Olympic Games"): the participants have to post their level on certain skills like power, speed,... You can create a table of the skills needed for a certain kind of sport. For example: the amount of stamina is way more important on a marathon than on a 100m, so the participant who gave himself the most points on stamina will have an advantage on the others. If you create this, creating limits is very important so there will be enough variety in the skill levels and thus a lot of different winners. Another important thing with this, if you base yourself only on the math, is to show your table to the participants, so there can be no doubt about the winner. Disadvantage here is that math, for the creator, is more important than the sports itself.

- Sports by tactics: you can ask the participants to PM their tactics to you, so you can pick out the best one to win the competition, race,... This is fun for you and the participants because of the high initiative level. But it requires lots of deadlines, being online,... and it's not objective (but that's not always necessary, as it sometimes decreases the fun). Not done this one yet, feel free to do so. But remember the disadvantages.

- Sports by intuition (f.e. learn to survive (not sports but you could use the same method for it)): Let the participants choose some thing, and you choose what was the best. It's fairly similar as "sports by tactics", with the exception there's probably only one game/match/final. Advantage: easy to participate. Disadvantage: only subjective and you'll need to post good reports to keep things interesting.

- Mix (f.e. le tour de France): a mix between math and interpretations. You can base yourself on the skills of the players, but still have some freedom to choose the course of the story/match/outcome/... It's also a mix between subjective and objective.

Some hints:

- Use clear rules, be open for questions
- Set deadlines
- Write fun reports
- Motivate enough players to participate (BEF or gold is an option, but then you'll have to be very objective)
- Make sure you have fun yourself
- This isn't only for sports! Think f.e. about the eurovision contest.
