Special Comment on the Spanish MPP and my voting record to date
NXNW
Before I provide a recap of my voting record I would like to briefly discuss one of the most important votes in the recent history of the USA. Sadly this vote was, IMHO, a significant policy mistake that could lead to significant "blowback" in the near future.
A majority of members of congress recently voted against renewing a MPP with Spain. For the record I voted "yes" to this proposal. For awhile relations between the USA and Spain have been strained, mainly due to the actions of a small group of players best described as trolls. The "silent majority" of players in the USA and Spain have largely positive impressions of each other but sometimes tempers are influenced by negative personalities, leading to rash decisions. before declining to renew the MPP we had the moral high ground in the relationship with Spain. We have now lost that position, harming our relations with Spain and potentially hurting our standing with other long standing allies.
I believe the non renewal of the Spanish MPP to be a rash decision and call on the Haliman administration to restore balance to our relations with Spain. I do support the creation of a new alliance, PANAM might be an exciting alternative to the EDEN v Phoenix structure. But it is self defeating for the USA to create a new structure that is predicated on giving old friends the middle finger.

NG Puppies voted yes for Spain.
Hail Spain!
Hail USA!
Mil knows best.
not surprised by stance on Spain, but I like the article.
@Henry Arundel: Thanks dude, people disagree but that doesn't mean we can't work together on other topics.
Articles like these are why Congress needs more people like NXNW. And they are also why he is one of my eheroes. Cuddly pink hugs for NX and the puppies.

I honestly do not see what 'trolls' had to do with the Spanish MPP vote. Congressmen had good reasons to vote both ways.
@Michale Porter: Please describe the valid rational for voting no.
I agree about the silent majority point; the forum has become a bit of an echo chamber for dioists. (inb4It'sNotAboutDioism)

Someone who disagrees with you is a troll?
Someone being a troll negates their opinion?
If the reason to vote down on the Spanish MPP are based off of IRC smack (conspiracy or what not) talk, then these congressman are far too easily swayed. So far they haven't done anything against the US and the one thing they did, natural enemies, didn't amount to anything. People take some things way to out of context and other use them to push their agenda, which aren't always what the rest of the US populous wants. Anyways, Spain has so far been a pretty good ally, after all we all make mistakes.
@MP: Thank you for the input, always appreciated. If we dropped an MPP with a longtime friend in order to placate/support a new friend wouldn't you agree that is something of a zero sum gain? Also, will our new friend be dropping MPPs with nations like Russia, Iran & Serbia? If it is a true 2 way relationship that would be the equitable move. Thanks again for the response.
There is a lot of conflicting allegiances going on and I am not up to date enough to be confident enough to have a conflicting opinion with the Executive on this. If you read the discussion in Private congress you would know I did not do it for Dioism or other secondary reasons.
I do agree some congressmen voted no for poor reasons but this was not a clear issue. Voting against Spain may have been influenced by Spains actions to Croatia and Romania. I do not know the context of what Haliman alluded to in his article but I am recognizing his ability to take a position on what allies we should prioritize if there is ever conflicting interests.
I do not feel Haliman should have responded as openly aggressive as he did but that is my opinion and it happened after I voted.
Like I said, congress had legit reasons to vote both ways.
We are attempting to establish a new Alliance structure, there is going to be stepped on allies. It's not as if they are innocent in this, MPP w/ Hungary/Poland. If it's going to be Spain for Brozil, I accept this.
I voted No.

spain is following polish footsteps, poland is about to sign serbian mpp it just a matter of time spain will do the same, I have no idea why would eden and panam keep them safe while they prepare their population to that "little" switch in alliances
@Zelja
PANAM and EDEN to keep Spain safe? Do you honestly beleive that Spain needs your help to be safe? Spain will be safe as long as Serbia is with them, and you lost your last opportunity to be friends with them. Better watch out, cause Serbia is coming to clain Free Land of Texas.
I belive that Spaniards have a thing for Florida... Maybe I'm paranoid but we'll see what the future holds.
"Spain will be safe as long as Serbia is with them"
rofl tell that to macedonia and turkey , its already boring to delete them every few days, all of that during macedonian baby boom, which is killing all of their new players, thank you for that
I agree with Zelja. Poland and Spain should withdraw their diplomatic stance in support of Croatia's security, as it's been up to now, preventing Serbia going nuclear on Croatia for almost a month now, and let Serbia do whatever they want with Croatia in full might, before they prepare along with Romania some alternative safeguard guarantees. Just like Brasil is doing v Spain with the dastardly complicity of Cromania and USA.
