South Carolina I want your vote

Hello, my name is Augustis and I am running for the South Carolina congressional seat under the Unites States Workers Party, but I am a member of the Federalist Party. Let me tell you a little about myself. I joined eRepublik on day 528 and have made level 15, strength 5, and a hard worker medal so far. I am a very active player, online many hours per day. I am the commanding officer of the eUSAF 6th Squadron. I run 3 companies currently, 1 of my own, and 2 for the Federalist Party. I am a mentor in the Citizens Mentorship Program. I am a member of the Federalist Party, but I am an eAmerican first and foremost.

It is my hope that we can turn our country into a united nation. I believe that once a person is elected he/she must put personal and party politics aside and work for the betterment of the nation as a whole. Now that you know a little about me here are some of my views.

Import tariffs
I believe that in order to support eAmerican companies we need to keep our import tariffs at a level that would give our companies a competitive edge over foreign companies. In areas that eAmerica lacks high resources we should lower those import tariffs to encourage foreign companies to import the raw materials we need to supply our manufacturing companies. Lowering import tariffs across the board will only hurt our economy. Lower tariffs lead to over supply in our markets, which lead to lower prices. Now some may think that lower prices are a good thing, but for every move in one area of the market there is an equal reaction in other areas. If prices drop because of over supply then wages will have to drop to keep the companies in business. So our workers end up making less and spending less and in the end there is no real difference for the working eAmericans other than less money to work with. It also lowers the amount of taxes the government collects which means the government has less to help our citizens, defend our nation, and improves our country.

National Security/Government transparency
I believe that we should do everything we can to keep our nation safe and secure from any threat. We have a fantastic military that is capable of handling just about anything that comes our way. I believe we need to add a quality 5 hospital or two so we do not have to put all our eggs in just two baskets. We also need to balance our national security with keeping our citizens informed. It is important that the government be held accountable to the citizens they represent. The only way the citizens can truly know if their elected officials are actually doing what is in the best interest of the nation is to let the citizens see what is being done. There should be no reason for government to hide things from the citizens except in the most sensitive areas of national defense, but national defense should not be used as an excuse to save embarrassment or egos or pride.

Foreign policy
We need closer relations with other nations and when we make a deal in good faith with another nation we need to hold up our end of the agreement. We also need to make sure the other nations hold up their end. eAmerica is a leader in eRepublik and as such has a responsibility to lead other nations that believe in freedom and democracy and to protect those that can not protect themselves. Defensive and trade agreements will help all nations involved.
