Soo...Nominations...

Day 1,837, 12:19 Published in Canada Canada by Shoi12

I don't pay much attention to Canada's internal discussions often, I admit. I probably should, but as more of a diplomatic player, I've always been more focused on foreign affairs. Why else would I have gotten a spot as MoFA on a regular occasion during my eLife? Yeah, I know it's no excuse to be ignorant of what happens within our borders, but it's true.

Often, I don't even care who's CP as long as I have a say in foreign affairs. Yes, EPD, you're not that important 🙂

Simply, if I have a say, I honestly don't care who wins and rules the nation, especially it's quite common for more than one candidate to offer a MoFA position to me in a single month. Sure, I might interact with the bossman a little differently depending on who it is, but it really doesn't matter.

However, even I have an opinion as to what a good leader is. As a player who plans to run for CP one day myself, and just in general, I do keep my eye on how players lead, effectively and ineffectively. I may just be some guy, but I do notice these sort of things, as I'm sure many have noticed as well. There are many kinds of rulers that have varying degrees of success and popularity, as I'm sure that people know as well. Let's list some qualities of a good leader, shall we?

A good leader should be respected by the nation he represents. As in, the ENTIRE nation. No matter how well the leader CAN lead, if he only has the support of 50% or 60% of the nation, it'll be hard to lead effectively if players are constantly trying to overthrow the leadership. The leader doesn't necessarily have to be unanimously picked by the people as some sort of savant, but he should at least be respected by all of his peers.

A good leader must be loyal to what he believes in. He can't simply be someone who goes with the flow and switches ideas to get public approval, because frankly, a leader has to be able to listen to the people, but also do what is best for the nation, even if it means disagreeing with the popular opinion from time to time. The worst kind of leader is a leader that cannot stick to his ideals and goals, an indecisive leader. Of course leaders make mistakes and must accept that reality, but this is no excuse to abandon all loyalties simply for approval. If he believes something is the right thing to do, he must stand by his decision to do so.

A leader must also be loyal to his nation. Yes, this seems obvious, but it's also very true. A leader must be willing to put in his all for his nation, and stick to them no matter the hardship. There is no more appalling sight than seeing a leader betray his nation or abandon it in a time of need. In the hardest of times, citizens must be able to turn to their leader and be inspired to see things through. If a leader folds when he is needed the most, how can he expect the nation to hold up? A leader must stand by his nation through thick and thin.

A leader must rule with authority. While this certainly does not mean blocking off others from making contributions and working together with others, he must be able to do what is right and convince others to work alongside him as well. No leader can lead a nation if its people do not listen to the words he says. If he cannot even get his cabinet to work with him, he is not fit to lead an entire nation. There have been many players with great ideas and genuine good intentions. But if a leader cannot lead his people, his title would be ironic, would it not?

All these things are essential to being a good leader, but those rare, exceptional leaders that few can dislike and none can hate are all good people. Being able to remain a good public image is always a positive thing, and remaining likeable always helps keep dissent to a minimum. And of course, actually being a good person is always a plus.

So, why am I rambling on about all this? Like I said, I rarely care about who is CP. But I happen to like a certain candidate this time around, so I thought I might put in a good word in hopes to sway some of you that may be hesitant to vote for.

This is someone that is highly respected in eCanada. This person will run eCanada not always with universal approval, but always with universal respect. This person sticks to the ideals and commitments that have been set forth, even when it has not been the most popular choice or the most well received. This person is loyal to eCanada, standing by our nation even in times of crisis and political chaos. When the nation suffered from complete insanity, this person helped keep us all in line. While others have fled to greener pastures, this person has stayed and fought the long fight. And of course, she is one of the nicest people I know. You know who I’m talking about ^.^

So yeah. If it means anything, I nominate my dear friend Mary-chan for CP 🙂

It doesn't? Oh...

...

Until next time, take care!
