Some thoughts concerning eNetherlands
Gwom
It has been a long time since I wrote an article, and usually they are filled with joy, contests and humour. But now I see no other alternatives than to bring this in a serious way...
My task
The past few months I made it my personal goal to welcome new citizens to our country, I tracked them down and sent them an additional welcome message containing more information than the default one. After a while I also started checking if they were active, so I sent them a friend request and kept track of their level.
My Discovery
After doing this for around three months, I made a horrible discovery...
Only 20% of the new citizens logged in more than one time. That means that 80% of all new citizens never log in again after creating their account!
Of the 82 new citizens that joined in these 3 months, only 16 returned to eRepublik after creating their account.
My Fear
After discovering this I got horribly depressed. I realised we are a dying community. We constantly lose people to boredom or inactivity, and we barely receive new citizens. I thought about this and made the following conclusion: We are to small to achieve any great things through war, and that is what eRepublik is mostly about. People are getting bored by running a country where barely anything happens. As a result every minor matter is blown up to immense proportions and debated over and over again in congress. People start to attack each other because we lack a common enemy. When I joined we were perma wiped by ePoland, people complained about it all the time, but we had something to fight for, a common goal. But today there is none, and we a slowly dissolving into division and inactivity. People don't really care who the next president will be, because there is nothing big he can decide on. We probably sail he same course as before.
The Solution?
For years I called for unity, but maybe that will decrease the activity even more. Fighting each other is all we have left...
We must find a common goal again. Even training wars help. We can recruit what we want, but if we don't have any activities to keep these new players active, it doesn't work. So what do I want to achieve with this article? I honestly don't know, but this has been on my mind for some time, and I felt the need to share it with you.
Sincerely yours,

Is not a NL problem, is happening all over the game. And not just new players, old ones are leaving just as much. This is what happens when you're clueless on how to run your company. In our case, this game. Bad decisions all over the place. I don't pretend I know what they should do as they're actually getting paid for it, not me.
But to come back to the main idea, new players have nothing at all to do. They're told to not fight and just train. To even make a difference you need about 70-100k strength, that's 2-3 years of training. Who would invest so much time just pressing train everyday because they were promised in a few years they'll be strong enough? And after those years the others will still be more powerful. Can't keep people interested in something when they have nothing to do. Oh and for those 2-3 years to matter you also have to invest real money into TG upgrades. Again who would do that when they don't even know what the game has to offer? And even if they upgrade and train, they will have to spend monthly around 40 euros on packs and stashes. IK, PP and BP. Just to press a big red button. This is the worst business model I ever seen. And I played a fair share of browser, facebook and steam games, all with plenty of micro transactions and dlcs.
In my opinion, you shouldn't really worry about it. Just take the game as it is and have as much fun as possible. The only way for anything to get better is if the admins will make major changes, which they're not known for. I'm still waiting for them to implement things that were promised during the 2012 summit.
Radom thought.. rent two of our regions to.. I don't know who wants them. congress will be smaller, meaninh only active CM members and RW/TW opportunities.
Been reading some of my old posts? 😛
Although i doubt the opinion of the strong opposition against that idea hasn't changed. so very unlikely it will happen.
Nah I haven't been reading anything, but it wouldn't be a bad deal I guess
This is just the fault of some group of people on irc, forums and government who believe they are the owners of this shit
100% of congress agreed to blacklist you.
82% agreed to remove all your rights as an eNL citizen.
so no it's not just a small group, even your own party voted in favour... perhaps that should tell you something?
HAHAHAHHAHA YOU CALL 12 votes the 88% HAHAHAHHAHA
11 votes the 100% HAHAHAHHAHAH nice stats
I believe I didn't vote both times 🙂
Silence Implies Consent shawtyl0w 😉
No odan, you just abused again of your position to take advantage, the sad thing: there's no evidence of anything, just a few screens of me on irc
Again you have showed your non existent impartiality with some false stats (100% / 88% What a joke, it was more your near friends voting in something illegal with no profs on x-mas // totally unfair and abusive) You promised a lot and until now you have accomplished 0, basically because everything was done by Tonie before you won the presidency (orion alliance with eNL as official member)
If so many people disagreed or whatever then why didn't anybody bring it up to unblacklist you? You know why because almost everybody agreed. Only thing we see you do is troll and complain. In all the article currently posted your comments are all just negative and whining.
So now you aren't just a lad now you are a seer, let me remind you this article's general idea: the community is dying that's why! Also claiming these stats when is not true
BTW What do you expect? A smile and support after he abused of his position with his friends (forums mo😛 deleting our posts and party members: inactive people until hey voted for this ridiculous law which only denotes abuse) to put us in a blacklist without having any real evidence and with a not concluded debate and only one day to vote when others threads to vote have been opened for like one week. Sorry dude but it's abuse
First off all; Nice work that you have been doing! And despite the depression try to keep it up!
As for the 80% logging in only once; That is no surprise given the fact the game is not really logical when you first start so a lot off players will create an account just to have a look. Tbh 80% is less than I expected.
Its the 20%, and off that the ones quitting after having looked around say a week that worry me. And for several off those there is nothing we can do either as when you start you actually can't do shit; You don't know the game or the people, you have no power nor resources to actually mean something and basically can only 2-click for ages to start with.
Then we get to the few that are able/willing to see past that due to guidance or friends that invited them. That's likely only a fraction (2-5%??) off the new players.
Your fear however I share as that goes for almost all players except the ones only enjoying forum politics. And I don't think a lot will change soon unless we get a player like Tonie to call the shots again. You can say and think a lot about him and agree or disagree but he did give us action and something to fight for.
