So you’re in Congress now ... Pt. 1

Day 2,200, 12:31 Published in United Kingdom United Kingdom by Gordon Strachan
Who are those ESO-guys sitting in Congress this term?

Congress has a reputation of existing in another dimension. Once the Congressmen are elected, Congress sucks them in, disappears to a place unknown and spits them out again after a month. Vulture Vision managed to catch up with the ESO-Congressmen before they were devoured. So here they are, in their own words.

Rodney Mckay

Rodney, how long have you been playing eRepublik?
I will have been a member of this game for 5 years as of the 1st December. In other words, I've been playing for too long!

When did you join ESO – and why?
I joined in the later half of 2011, after Emergy invited me. I was fairly inactive at that point so I just joined, but I soon took on more and more responsibilities.

Have you been in Congress before?
I was in Congress a long, long time ago, in 2009. I ran with PCP in partnership with the LSD party for West Midlands. (editorial note: back then, Congress election procedures worked a little differently).

ESO managed to get 6 seats – surprised by the result?
The result was fairly predictable with our member count. Dmgd (the current PP) did well to wrangle in some new members.

How do you expect your Congress term to be?
All I expect is tea and hookers, paid for by tax payers. (here’s a man with a healthy understanding of politics!)

What can ESO do for the eUK?
ESO has always been the "middle ground". We have no political enemies per se and we are friendly to any and all. I think ESO is somewhat of a relaxed party, not as serious as some of the others – which is nice as it means I can just enjoy the game. Legion was ESO’s greatest export and I think that went fairly well. I look forward to what else we are capable of.

Speaking of which ... a few words about Legion, maybe?
*the rest is silence*

Muhammad Noman

Muhammad, how long have you been playing eRepublik?
For around 1.75 years.

When did you join ESO – and why?
I joined in November 2012. I guess when jamesw asked me to – and that was my first cool political move!

Have you been in Congress before?
I have been in Congress from September to October. It was cool getting to know what was happening in the govt. and being part of the decisions being made. (editorial note: Reports of Congress survivors seem to be true after all – there is some work getting done!)

ESO managed to get 6 seats – surprised by the result?
Indeed, it really was sad when we dropped out of the Top 5. And regaining the position feels awesome.

How do you expect your Congress term to be?
Its always nice to know what’s going on, so I hope it will be good.

What can ESO do for the eUK?
ESO can be a base for younger players to get to know about politics in the game, not the one which usually occurs between the official lines. ESO has never been part of that, and that is what is awesome about us. Every person gets a chance to step up, and that’s basically due to the experienced ones making way for the younger players to come out on the front.

Speaking of fronts: You’re a former Legionnaire, too ...
Legion was the best MU I have ever been in!

So much for the first part. I hope you’re looking forward to part two as much as I am.
