So How About that Yugoslavia? An In-Depth War Analysis

I hate Yugoslavia. It's been eating up its nearby neighbors for as long as anyone remembers. That's why when EDEN started its push to crush the Yugoslavian Empire, I got really excited. China had tunneled its way through South America to take on the Yugoslavs. They had made great progress, but were somehow defeated at Apulia, and were soon pushed off the continent. All the gains that the other nations had made were quickly eliminated. The Yugoslavs had won.

But just a couple of weeks ago, another push towards freedom was brewing. It started with recently freed Albania battling its three neighbors, Serbia (North Yugoslavia), FYROM (South Yugoslavia), and Montenegro (idk like their pet cat or something?). The miracles that took place in Albania were incredible. The mighty Albanians managed to defeat Montenegro, and were holding their own against both halves of the Empire. They held off the sinister forces long enough for organized revolts to start.

First it was Croatia, straying from its paradise in Switz-Austria to free South Dalmatia in a very close battle. Right afterwards, it was the Bosnians who liberated the Brčko District from their oppressors. But things were just beginning.

The team of Bosnia and Croatia is decently strong, but not enough. What they needed was a third team member to clear out Yugoslavia from their lands. In the previous war it was China, but this time Greece came to the rescue, fresh off of their war with FYROM. While Serbians declared war on Croatia, the Greeks sneakily started an attack on Yugoslavian Italy. Yugoslavia attempted to block off the attack by giving Apulia back to Italy, but the trick failed, giving Greece a foothold in Italy.

The next few days were all in EDEN's favor. Croatia and Bosnia slowly pushed Yugoslavia out, while Greece slowly took back the fallen Italian provinces for the long-devastated nation. Italy slowly grew back to about 70% of its original borders. Yay Italy!

The next major hurdle was Montenegro. Although Serbian Yugoslavia had been holding onto the provinces for safekeeping, upon Greece's imminent attack, the Empire released the Montenegrin Coast, attempting to build another wall for the Greeks to pierce through. And pierce through they did, successfully capturing both provinces let go by the Yugoslavians. Greece managed to land in Yugoslavia Prime!

After a close series of victories against Montenegro, Greece was free to restart an attack on Serbian Yugoslavia. However, the Serbs quickly started their proposal mere minutes after the last Montenegrin province fell, giving them the initiative. A bloody battle for the Montenegrin Coast, but the EDEN-backed Greeks were victorious, successfully landing on the coast. With Croatia and Bosnia giving a helping hand, Serbia looked doomed.

Despite inching closer and closer to Belgrade over the next few days, things started tipping back in ONE's favor. The first event was the returning of Italian lands to Italy. Greece effectively took itself out of the war by the move, showing an early sign to the world that their front was never the priority. While giving back Italian lands was fine, giving Apulia specifically cut Greece off from its homeland, preventing any sort of meaningful attack. Montenegro successfully revolting the coast back sealed the deal.

If this move wasn't bad enough, Italy happened to make itself a juicy target to its opposition, and they got dissected like a tree frog. With both Slovenia and FYROM attacking the underpowered nation, Italy quickly fell faster than they could wave their white flags, as Slovenia ate the north and FYROM the south, including Apulia.

And even worse, Serbia started pushing back. With Greece losing its path into Serbia, it lost its motivation, and started giving back the gains it had made. Despite marching through southern Serbia with gusto in the opening battles, they lost their momentum, and only fragments of Greek holdings remain in Yugoslavia.

Croatia and Bosnia didn't do much better. After a few gains to begin their quest for independence, the Serbs held off attacks, including a Bosnian assault that saw the Bosnians squander a 30 point lead and lose the initiative. Currently, all 3 fronts have seen Serbia capture the initiative.

And with Italy soon to be wiped and Albania unable to break free, there's no telling what Slovenia and FYROM will do. The ball is in Yugoslavia's park, and EDEN is along for the ride. This could spell the end of the road for the freedom movement...again.

But there is still hope. Our forces are ridiculously disorganized, and with proper guidance, a combined strike can finish off Yugoslavia. We must unite our forces on a lone front. As FYROM is blocked by Greece from Italy, they are unwilling to dedicate themselves to such a battle, so they are ready for any attack, so freeing Albania is out of the question.

Currently, Greece is Serbia's NE. That means that Greece and Serbia have no bonuses with each other, and Serbia is simply stronger than the Greeks. BUT, Croatia has the bonus that Serbia lacks, which makes the Croats the best nation to support. Bosnia is set to fall very soon, but if all forces focus on protecting Croatia, we can regain initiative and attack Bosnians lands with the hope of liberating them and getting another front. The rule of thumb is to get as many fronts as possible.

Greece has 3 provinces still bordering Serbia, and they should hold for another few days. The Greece front is dead, and NO forces should be supporting it. There's no point since Serbia will quickly revolt them back anyway if an attack fails. But the Croats and Bosnians have their original lands at stake, and can liberate them one at a time. So focus solely on the Croatia war front, and take advantage of Serbia's focus on Greece to get some land back. When there's more than one front, ALWAYS focus on the one your opponent is too busy to send troops to. In this case, Greece is their target, so focus on Croatia.

Greece will lose their Serbian lands eventually, and as they're unwilling to battle FYROM again, they are most likely out of the war. At this point, Serbia will switch focus to Croatia. Then, we must push to liberate Bosnia to use another front to attack. When battling a stronger nation, you CANNOT face them head on. You must find a way to exploit their weakness. Croatia should have captured a province or two by now to buy some time to free Bosnia. Once again, using fronts to your advantage is key. If proper strategy and combined effort is used, Serbia and the entire Yugoslavia will fall.

Until next time, take care!
