They don't do anything because there's nothing they can do. Catching script-kiddies is about as difficult as catching decoder users. They simply lack the tools and resources to do it. What you are actually demanding is that the whole code has to be changed so this can't be done in the future. Seeing how even the simplest of problem takes days to fix, I can only guess that fixing this particular security breach takes months.
