Sammy Goes for President - Will you go with him?

Sincere People of Belgium,

As some of you might have noticed, I’m running for president of Belgium. Res Belgica has decided to send me in into the political arena and lead you during what will be a turbulent January month. I wish to thank them for their support and confidence in me. I also wish to thank the Party Presidents of Free Belgium and Belgium for Belgians, who both also have given me their support. With this I am the candidate from 3 of the 4 legal Belgian parties.

The challenges that the world will face now, in the light of the great alliance changes, will require someone with the capacities of patience, diplomacy and rationality. These are three virtues that I believe to have in my possession. The two big goals I have in mind for next month are our position on the international chessboard and our own national security. More information on that shall come soon, but these two big themes will be what I shall focus on.


This seems to be an appropriate place to keep my government working

As my opponent, A Vegan, already has brought forth his ideas of government, I will bring forth mine. I will keep a far smaller cabinet in order to be able to manage and coordinate with every single minister. I believe in team play, and for that, a small quick team can be often far more effective then a big colossus slowed down by his own bureaucracy. I have contacted some people to ask them to join me, but many positions are still open. I will take a look at everyone’s candidature. It does not matter which ingame age, RL background or party affiliation you’ve got, everyone is welcome. Young strong blood is just as much needed in a government as an old veteran's wise words.


Young blood … we can always use it

These is the government I’d like to see:

- Minister of Foreign Affairs: Last month Manong Rizal has done a good job in reopening our embassies across the globe. Unfortunatly the old mouse has decided to go twoclicking again, so I’m looking for someone who wishes to take this extremely important cabinet over from him. Belgium’s fate is decided with good diplomatic work, and as foreign policy is one of my goals this month, I will call on a good buddy on this.
- Minister of Defence: Vulcain has done a great job in reorganizing our military. It still has many problems, but it can grow into a nice battle force if it’s given the right amount of love and attention. If you’re interested into becoming the organizer of our military, to make it cause havoc and destruction in the eRep wars, which is a vital part of the game, feel free to PM me. It’s a tough job, so I will not accept just anyone for this, but it will be an important enough task.
- Minister of Immigration: My old task is what I’d call a challenging but fun task. Belgium needs to keep her borders tightly closed against potential PTO’ers, but that may not mean that we’d disregard anyone attempting to enter: good men have come to Brussels from across the entire globe. The requirements for this ministry are a good knowledge of eRep history and the willingness to look further then the first avatar. I myself will guide you through the task when you get this job.


Immigration has some downsides too ... I gave my middle finger back though 😁

- Minister of National Security: In these past few months, ThomasRed himself personally has often gone around searching through the newbies hunting for multis. He solely has been responsible for finding and eliminating tons of multis who have proven to be a danger for our nation’s democracy. Since this takes quite some time, I’d like to have someone dedicated to this job. Just like immigration, this is a task which takes time and patience, but knowing that these multis can’t vote any more on that medalhunter is a reward in itself.
- Minister of Justice: It has been proven enough these last months: Belgium needs a working judicial branch. Hopefully we can soon see the first judges at work. In the meantime, I’d like to have a fine minister continuing the task of reforming this part of Belgian rule. A strong potential candidate has contacted me for this post, but if you feel you’re a good man for this post too, contact me.
- Minister of Finances: I’m here keeping our old fellow Boklevski at work. This lad has done an excellent job in the past governments and I can’t see why I’d have to change a winning team member. Boklevski’s a man who knows how to deal with the monetary market and when to put where the right amount of money. He has my full confidence.


What I expect from Bokkie when my term is over

- Minister of State Companies: We have a lot of state companies lying around. Some of these can be better used for good. This task of managing some of the Belgian state companies can help our economy a lot. Economic experience is valued of course for this job, but it does not differ that much from a normal company boss's task, just that you don’t get profit personally, but entire Belgium does.
- Minister of Entertainment: The forum and ingame entertainer. Keeping citizens active on the forum or on the IRC worked great with games like the werewolf of eBelgium game. I wish for someone to continue this task again. If you can make people laugh without making Innos mad, you’re my man.
- Minister of Education: The mentorship Scheme has great value for new players. It is important to get every Belgian who once clicks on the eRep link, hooked up to this program. Information is vital then. Someone guiding this program again will help a lot in having our population alive and kicking.
- Translating service: Our constitution says it: “The official languages of eBelgium are English, French and Dutch”. I wish that as much as possible government communication will respect this rule. A good translation service is needed for this. These people will not be part of the government, but they will peform a service for our country that will be appreciated by many.

I repeat that everyone’s candidature for a task will be considered. In Belgium we cannot afford to throw away enthusiasm. And even if your preferred task has been given to someone else, I’ll attempt to give you something different that fancies your taste.




In a next article I will bring forth my detailed goals as president of Belgium. I consider them ambitious but reasonable. However, for my ingame goals, I’ ve got a little surprise for you.
I decided to tweak them into a game. I’ve taken as goals the military control of some regions who have the following characteristics:

- They only border 2 other regions
- Those 2 regions are of the same original country as the region(s) in question
- They fit the following tips: Maffia, Cattle, North
