Ryoushi For Congress In Jeollabuk-do

Day 733, 16:07 Published in Japan Japan by Ryoushi

Greetings Fellow Citizens,

I am pleased to announce today my candidacy for Congress, from the region of Jeollabuk-do. I was born in eJapan three months ago, and have enthusiastically followed the growth and evolution of this country ever since then. I have listened to all sides of every debate, like the secretary on a conference call between rival fishing boat captains arguing over territory. And although I may stretch metaphors farther than they ever need to go, I have always had the country's best interests at heart.

Allow me to briefly discuss some of the reasons I am qualified to be a member of the Imperial Diet.

Activity - Activity is arguably the most important attribute a Congressperson can have. There are always new issues coming up, and new votes being proposed. Many of these situations are unexpected, and candidates do not enter office knowing how they will vote. Instead, Congress members must read the forums, consider the logic, and make an independent decision at the time of the vote.

In the three months since I was born, I have achieved level 17, for the rank of #236 in the country, and have used my own money to reach the battle rank of Captain. I have fought 314 times in 90 days, for an average of 3.5 fights per day. These statistics clearly demonstrate that I play every day, and do more than just two click. I also participate in the forums and the newspaper world.

Ambassador Program - On the national forums, the honorable Reiji Mitsurugi recently wrote, "We desperately need to improve the ambassador program. The overwhelming majority of our ambassadors are inactive and worthless." In my first term in Congress, I will make it my priority to help out the Foreign Affairs department with this task, by polling the activity levels of our current ambassadors, and working on a program to find new ones. Also, I will become ambassador for a country-to-be-determined myself.

Foreign Policy - Massive developments in this area all over the eRepublik world. While Japan was once safely tucked away in a quiet corner of the PEACE alliance, with the recent weakening of that alliance, we are now out in the open where the wolves can eat us. I support the hard-line stance that President Dokomo has taken with regards to China-Russia. I would rather see Japan fight for our principles than hide in the bushes. We must continue our sly diplomacy and find strong allies where we can.

I was one of the first people to move to Kyushu after the defense system was built there. I did not agree with those who said, "Oh if a huge country attacks us, it won't make a difference how big our wall is." Instead, I feel that eJapan should constantly strive to become a stronger, more Righteous country, even when it does not seem practical. We don't know when attacks will come, and from where, so all we can do is train daily, organize our military, and develop diplomatic ties, so that when that fateful day comes, we will be as prepared as possible. To take a defeatist attitude based on what you expect to happen is not wisdom, it is a step towards the center of foolishness. The wise path is to be strong and act strong.

This is the philosophy I will bring with me to Congress. It will shape my votes, and my level of participation. eJapan has faced great challenges recently, but we overcame them. We are on the right path. Let's continue that.

Signed,
Ryoushi
