Roz reports from Congress

Day 1,258, 08:47 Published in United Kingdom United Kingdom by Elle Roslin

I’m a big believer in transparency and accountability. For the duration of my congressional term, I will be publishing weekly updates detailing how I have voted on the issues put forward in Congress. These will be brief notes, but please feel free to comment or get in touch with me personally if you would like to discuss the issues further.

1. Alliances (MPP’s)
Alliance with Japan
Vote: YES
Alliance with FYROM
Vote: YES
Alliance with Slovenia
Vote: YES
Alliance with Lithuania
Vote: YES

Rationale: I started off with the easy category, Mutual Protection Pacts. Considering our present position on the international stage, these decisions don’t really require an explanation.

2. Increase Minimum Wage
Vote: NO
Rationale: Wages are not an issue right now. The military also pays the lowest wage as part of their method for exchanging food/weapons for working in their companies. There is no added benefit to increasing minimum wage at this time.

3. Natural Enemy Proposals
Sweden
Vote: YES
Netherlands
Vote: NO
Ireland
Vote: YES

Rationale: The UK has been without a NE for some time. I have committed to vote in favour of any reasonable NE proposal. Ireland was the controversial NE proposal here. Others have argued that this is an inappropriate time to NE Ireland, primarily due to their alliance arrangements. It is my view that there will never be a ‘perfect’ time to NE Ireland. They have been causing us problems for months now, and were one of the primary reasons why we left TERRA. In light of this, I voted YES, and will continue to vote YES for every Ireland NE proposal that is tabled.
