Actuators are used at various aircraft system and routine check of its operation is important to ensure it is fit for service. Operational check can be done when aircraft is on ground.

Checking the actuator sense, the direction of movement needs to be corresponding to the switch position. Check for its range of movement, its full range covers as specified in maintenance manual. Also monitor its speed, how fast the actuator moves. Ensure movement of actuator and its indication inside cockpit respond correctly.

No sluggish movement should occur when power is applied to the actuator for smooth operation. To prevent over travel, solenoid brake must operates as power is removed. Last but not least, ensure all connectors to be in good condition.
