Romania and Greece butt heads, Phoenix moving to retake initiative

Day 756, 19:03 Published in USA Australia by Aeros

SUMMARY

In a stunning victory for Romania and equally stunning defeat for EDEN coordination, Romanian forces secured Marmara, closing the Greek initiative block and permitting a Phoenix counterattack. The Spanish attack on Guyana was thwarted when Brazil fought down the resistance war that was started before the Spanish attack, permitting an invasion of Australia. In China, the US is mopping up the last of Indonesia’s regions in North and Central Asia. In India, Iran has begun divesting itself of the last of its foreign territory in the country. In Belgium, British forces successfully occupied Flanders and are now advancing on Brussels. In Denmark, Swedish forces have secured a common border with Germany and have declared war. Germany has recently lost three of its border regions to Poland, and will also have to face another front with the Czech Republic, who have also passed a war declaration. In Peru, Argentine forces ran into intense Polish resistance and have been halted.

It should be noted, that both the Spanish blocking attack on Brazil, and the South African bridge to Australia for Brazil have been made possible by the activities of the trolls and hackers from 888chan. An interesting development

TURKEY

Turkey got a reprieve earlier this morning after Romania pulled out a clutch win in Marmara which closed the Greek initiative blocking battle. Greece had not launched another attack on the Aegean Islands at the time, and without an active battle Turkey was able to regain initiative. Seizing the opportunity, Turkish forces have mounted an offensive on the Aegean Islands and Israel. Romania has claimed they did warn the Greek President of their intentions, but that he did not act on the warning. Unfortunate, but there you have it. The only benefit for Romania holding Marmara at this point is that it limits Turkey to the Aegean Islands bottleneck. This battle is a must win for Phoenix, because without it they will lose initiative against Greece if they lose. Should Turkey manage to secure the Aegean Islands, it will open the entire Greek mainland up to attack. If this should occur, the situation in Asia Minor will be reversed, with Turkey holding the positioning for keeping Greece permanently initiative locked instead of Greece keeping Turkey permanently initiative locked. This could spell big trouble for Israel, and will almost certainly result in the country facing a potential wipe out. Romania will be unable to provide any further assistance to Greece either, as Bulgaria is almost certain to open up an attack on Marmara at some point before the close of the Varna battle. This will hold Romania in place and also give Phoenix an easy route for retaking Marmara from Romania. At this point, Romania can mitigate the damage their victory caused by going all out in defending the Aegean Islands. The regained initiative will make it as if this fiasco never even happened.

*EDIT*

Victory, Greece held the Aegean Islands, and the Battle Hero was also a Romanian. Good job everyone.

POLAND

While things are not going all according to the plan in the Aegean, Poland has been busy wiping the floor with its targets. The initial invasion of Germany went off without a hitch, due to Phoenix being focused on numerous other targets around the eWorld. Germany has now lost initiative for another 24 hours from when the last battle with Poland closed, and is now facing a hostile Czech Republic and Sweden on its Northern and Southern borders. Germany is now in dire straits, as much of Phoenix is spread thin throughout the world trying to hold Turkey, and also having to prepare for a potential American strike at Heilongjiang. The lack of Resistance in Germany has given Poland a substantial strength surplus that they sent to South America, routing the Argentine invasion of Peru in the Low Andes.

CHINA

The USA handily defeated the Indonesians in their last Chinese enclave of Xinjiang, which was quickly returned by the Americans in order to avoid a common border with Russia. This victory effectively eliminated Indonesia from the Chinese theater of the war and increases the strength of the American presence in East Asia. The Next US move will be the question that will keep Phoenix leaders awake at night. The US could immediately strike at Heilongjiang and knock Hungary out of any further efforts to defend Turkey. Striking at Heilongjiang now however would carry some risk for the USA, as it would likely be done without much assistance from the rest of EDEN who are tied up on their own fronts. For Hungary’s part, they will put all their efforts into the defense of Heilongjiang. A more tempting target for the USA would be Iran’s High Iron region of Liaoning . Without significant allied mobile forces support, Iran will be unable to defend Liaoning from a potential US attack. With Phoenix spread thin across the globe, that support may be hard to find.

IRAN

Sensing the issues involved with regards to their remaining Indian territory, the Iranians have triggered resistance wars in the regions and are fighting red to divest themselves of the territory. This will leave the Indonesians as the only remaining foreign power left in India. It will also give Iran the chance to regain initiative against India and attack. This would carry enormous risk for Iran however, as it would activate India’s MPP’s and also give Iran a common border with the United States in China. More than likely, Iran is divesting itself of the remainder of its useless territory in anticipation of a showdown with the USA in Liaoning.

AUSTRALIA

With the impending Brazilian War declaration on Australia imminent, Spain launched an attack on Brazilian occupied Venezuela in order to give Australia a 24 hour extension on the start of its war. This might not seem like much, but for a country that has been largely inactive for weeks, an extra 24 hours is a major boost in alerting the citizenry and building up activity levels. Brazil launched its invasion resistance warring the Venezuelan region away and closing the Spanish battle. For now, the battle is fairly close and Australia is receiving support from the Sol Alliance and some Brolliance fighters, so the countries are more or less evenly matched.

FINAL ANALYSIS

EDEN is not being very efficient in its battle coordination, and this is a fact. I am optimistic about the Aegean Islands fight, as I am sure every member state understands its importance and will be able to focus its damage in this area. The issue we are running into now is spreading the damage around afterwards. Poland hit an impressive 700k damage in Berlin, but also secured two other regions by less than 100k. Seriously, a win is a win. It does not matter how far the wall is into the underground. In the early days of the North American war, we had orders that went along the lines of; “Build the wall to X damage in Province A - If the Wall in Province A is X Damage, fight in province B to X Damage”. Repeat the number of targets in the instructions as needed. This did not prove to be very effective when fighting defensively, but when you are on the offensive it is very much important as we are setting the pace and tempo of the battle. All countries in EDEN have their own Primary objectives, this is understood. But we cannot forget about those secondary objectives either! This is the reason we are defending the Aegean Islands right now instead of attacking the Turkish capital province. EDEN must coordinate itself better and stop blowing damage where it’s not needed.

Other then that however, things are moving more or less in the direction EDEN wants the war to go. Poland has secured some High resource regions for the first time, and the Americans are increasing their presence in East Asia.

SERIOUS BUG

As a warning to anyone preparing for the final moments of battle, there is a serious glitch in eRepublik that randomly reduces your strength and wellness to 0, usually right before you hit the FIGHT button in a battle. Many members of the US Military were struck with this error as they went to fight in the Aegean Islands (including myself) and are now waiting for it to correct. Apparently it also occurred earlier this morning in Flanders. Be careful out there.
