RM Production and Usage To Be Slashed
Teucer
All of us received the following message this when we logged on today:
"Dear citizen,
On Day 1,224 of the New World there will be one hour of maintenance, between 0:00 and 1:00 eRepublik Time. During that time, the process of raw materials' denomination will take place.
All offers of raw material units will be removed from the marketplace, thus being returned into storage.
Every current 6 raw material (RM) units from the storage will become 1 new raw material (RM😉
unit (a storage containing 6000 iron and 600 grain will now contain 1000 iron and 100 grain).
All workers in raw material companies will extract 1 RM* for every 6 RM that they used to extract (production will be changed, not productivity).
All final goods will consume 1 RM* for every 6 RM that they used to consume.
Best regards,
Plato
Your eRepublik Governor"
First, this is probably being done to accommodate a cap on unified inventory that should be coming in the future (Day 1250 probably).
Second, with only a sixth of the RM being produced and only a sixth being consumed, current profits will also be cut down to a sixth of what they are for the average player (with prices currently what they are). In terms of the effects it has on prices, I would anticipate price increases on raw materials. I expect to see speculators continuing to drive up RM prices and cheaper goods in the short term due to lower costs. This adjustment isn't a huge deal, but the markets will see fluctuations and adjustments over the days after implementation so keep that in mind.
I love to hear opinions and comments, especially if they are contrary to my own or from young players who want to learn this game!
A silent nation is a dead nation. Speak up and be heard!

Is that Elisha Cuthbert?
yea im more interested in d chix name too...
Prices won't stay the same. They'll rise. But probably by less than x6
Yes, that's Elisha Cuthbert and yes I know Croy. I guess I just didn't make that clear.
We already talked about it at irc #itrade, and i think, RM will go up about 5times, but not production. I approve this update.
And how this will effect USD : Gold how..
Also, from now on, it would be easier to manipulate with prices, so if u have some brains in that oval thing on your shoulder, you will make some money.
I'm pretty sure raw prices will just increase 6x, which is a wash. All market offers are being removed when the adjustment happens, so no one will get screwed. There may be some chaos as people repost offers during the day, but it won't be too bad.
Yes, there will be another 3-4 days of market volitility before the prices hit their equilibrium point, but I expect that equilibrium point to be about 6x the current price, give or take a cent or two.
Being not all that good at understanding economics I am wondering what the best way to prepare for these changes. I have thought about sending a letter to all my workers to not work till after 1:00 and selling all my RM and then buying them back after the change. Does that make any sense?
there will increases due to speculators but also there will be low prices for hot cashes...the high prices wont last long..i think..will go down in one day..
I would sell everything you can right now to get ready for the next few days of change. You'll only be getting a sixth of the RM, but prices will still be low and adjusting upward.
Thanks Teucer! As I thought it over more that was the conclusion I came up with. Good to have it confirmed
I sold today; and since prices will only slowly adjust upward, I'd hold onto anything you produce for a few days until they appear to stabalize. There is one other key advantage to the change: at .03-.06 an adjustment in price is pretty significant. Someone might want to charge .0345 but the system cannot handle that. The system can however handle adjustments from .39 to .37. Overall the change is a positive.
I do not agree with your assertion that profits will be cut. As I read this, all it does is create six additional price points between market offers.
Since manu will be using 6x "units" fewer per product (q1 bread will require 1RM instead of 6) cost of production remains unchanged.
Profit will be cut immediately. An upward price adjustment over the next several days will change that, so yes profits will get cut tomorrow.
All offers will be taken off the market during maintenance. So unless someone is dumb enough to put their RMs back on the market for the same price, what you are predicting won't happen. As people log in they will repost at ~.30 instead of .05.
ha, you're right. I must've skipped a line.
This sucks so hard. I have, for example, over 4000 grain units from v1 that cost me over $1 each to produce. Now they're going to be cut down to 1/6th of what they were. Horrible.
i was thrown off by the title. will RM production and usage be "slashed"? the way i see it, RM will be measured in pounds rather than ounces. i know lbs😮z is not 1:6, its just an example
