Rise from the Ashes! How to Rebuild Fallen France

Day 1,724, 02:09 Published in Canada Canada by Shoi12

There is a sense of loyalty that is often missing in belligerent nations that the underdog nation seems to always possess. France has been one of those nations, remaining loyal to our friendship and trust, despite the hardships they have been through. It'd be great to rebuild their nation to accommodate their prideful people, but it's not as simple as it seems.

Though France currently owns Savoy, the threat of an invasion is sky high. Polish and Macedonian troops sit on the border, feigning peace while preparing to eliminate the French. France won't be able to hold off the Poles on their own. They need a plan of action.

Unfortunately for France, they are literally surrounded by sinister forces. With Spain to the west, Poland-controlled Germany to the east, the Brits in the north, and the fallen kingdom of Italy in the south, there's nowhere to run for the French. They are in the worst position imaginable, and need foreign support to attain and retain their freedom.

I'll be the first to admit, as much of an optimist I may be, that beating Spain, Poland, and FYROM all at once is just a tad unlikely. Especially with Croatia and Romania defeated, we simply lack the resources, if not the manpower, to defeat the oppressive forces occupying France. So we must think outside of the box.

The most obvious solution, of course, is to negotiate a resolute peace between France and its occupiers. "Hey Poland, we won't attack anymore or cause you any trouble, but in return, we'll hold onto *province A&B*." Sure, it sounds nice in theory, but if that happens, France becomes nothing more than a puppet of the pink menace, unable to raise a finger while their friends fight valiantly. Plus, France is too prideful to admit defeat, even in the worst of circumstances. So, accepting fate is a poor choice.

But there is another way. If we cannot win the cards we have currently, we must shuffle the deck to give us a winning hand. Alliances change often, and though we've lost a few friends, we can also gain a few. While it'd be great to get an ally in Spain or Slovenia, it's just not very likely that they would accept such an offer. However, one nation remains on the market: Belgium. Sure Belgium isn't the strongest nation, but they can hold their own in a battle, and their position on the map leaves them a mere 2 provinces from cutting Polish France from the rest of the Polish Empire. With good support and communication, it's certainly possible Belgium could be victorious.

Another possibility is the Swedes. I won't pretend to know what's happened in the past 4 years, but one thing I know is that Germany trusts the Swedes enough to cede Berlin to them in case of a Polish betrayal. While Germany itself has signed a peace deal with the Polish, Sweden is thought to be an honorable nation, as well as a powerful one, nearly stopping the Russians quite a few times during their war. And with a Sweden-friendly peace deal between the two, it's plausible that Sweden would be willing to help out should things not work out in their current alliances.

And of course, the most important nation in this calamity is America. They claim to desire friendly relations with Terran nations, but at the same time, they've entered an alliance with Poland and Spain among other powerful nations. While they may pretend that they can balance both, the truth is that they will have to choose one side or the other. With the American government being forced to choose between their old friends and this new temptation, these next few months will determine France's survival for the next year.

So yes, France, stand strong! You have been through much, but hold on for just a bit longer, and your country shall once again stretch from the Pyrenees to Brittany and Lorriane! After all, you waited 4 years for liberation in WWII. Stand by our side, and it will take much less time to free you, our valued ally. You shall rise from the ashes!

Until next time, take care!
